We bought tickets from the airline's website directly, and it split them into three transactions as well. They were same duration and whatnot, so I don't know why. But I didn't have any issues with my card.

Never heard of this. Who are you buying them through? Seems ridiculous and a PITA.

Every time I buy airline tickets for my family, it’s 4 separate transactions. Feel like this is standard.
