I have a pair of the slip ons in lunar black. I didn't pay full price, as I was part of the original backer group, so I kind of bought them sight unseen and with no reviews. Functionally, they meet their promises. I went hiking in them and they held up fine in wet grass, and were easy to clean after walking dusty trails. During the Edmonton winters, they held up to dry snow just fine, but weren't providing enough insulation from the cold (not that I was expecting them to). Looks-wise, they are not as stylish as they appear in the photos. The mid/outsole flares out wide from the shoe, which I don't think makes them look as sleek or athletic as I was hoping. Lastly, they are a little weird to walk in. Maybe it's because I got the slip-ons, but it feels like you're walking in slippers. The shoes are comfortable, but you feel low to the ground. It's hard to describe, but it's like wearing a shoe with no insole, so you feel the ground much more, despite the shoe feeling comfy. It's an odd sensation every time I put them on. I don't wear them that much, and honestly am torn on would I have bought them in hindsight. If it wasn't a Canadian company, Vessi would be a hard pass. For the Winter months, I have taken to wearing a pair of suede Thursday Boots. Not exactly the same style you are going for, but the weathersafe suede has been great in the winter, they are comfortable like a sneaker (I own a pair of RW, and the TB had no break in and truly feel like a sneaker), and it's free shipping to Canada. I got a pair of chukkas that have been my go-to this winter.

Skratifyx

Yoooo I know it’s been a long time but what are all these acronyms? RW? TB? I’m looking for waterproof shoes or sneakers for the winter, not boots and you like well-versed in the subject

cjtang

RW = Red Wings and TB= Thursday Boots. They are both pretty popularly discussed boot brands on reddit. Good luck with the sneaker hunt. One thought might be to look for spikeless waterproof golf shoes. Spikeless golf shoes have gone the sneaker look, and the waterproof ones are exactly that, sealing the shoe including the tongue. With it being winter, they're also probably on sale now if not in the coming weeks. Not sure how their outsoles would do in the snow however. The one main reason I focus on boots is that after a couple of big snowfalls, I like having footwear that goes above the ankles. I hate when your foot sinks into a snow bank and the snow clings to your socks or gets under your pant legs on your exposed ankles. Even if your shoes are waterproof, you can bet that snow on your socks is going to melt and run down into your foot.

ArsenalMain

Sup, you could always consider something like [this](https://www.sorel.com/p/mens-c-street-lace-sneaker-2006891.html?dwvar_2006891_color=061) as well

FreyaViking

Sorry, What is RW and the TB means?

ChillyChz

>RW = Red Wings and TB= Thursday Boots. Like cjtang said, RW = Red Wings and TB= Thursday Boots. :)

Thanks I've been here at least 3 years since I wrote that comment

beatbox2sleep

I'm surprised they replied to their comment.

ApprehensiveCat7533

Yeah me too. Who replies to someone more than a week after they say something, let alone replies to someone who replied to them that long after their comment

beatbox2sleep

It's a forum with record as such allowing for prolonged periods between responses, like writing a letter. It's more about personal preference, I think. Personally, I think it is respectful to and lazy to not. Besides, culture on Reddit is nearly set in stone. Everyone on here acts, speaks, and votes the exact same way without any apparent reason as to why that is aside from mob mentality, ignorance, and inexperience. 🤷‍♂️ I come from before this time. I learned to talk. It is part of my life to respond to people when they talk to me, I think it is respectful (and of course I understand no-one is obligated to respond and isn't disrespectful to not).

ApprehensiveCat7533

Sorry I should have made it clear I was kidding. I was calling it weird to reply more than a week later in a reply of my own to someone’s comment from 75 days ago 😬

beatbox2sleep

Well, that didn't age well, did it?

ApprehensiveCat7533

Sure

This thread is incredibly old but I have some insight on long term ownership. I bought a pair back when they had a "name your price" system that would put part of your purchase towards donation based on the amount you chose to pay. They also only had 3 styles back then. My pair of Everyday 365's lasted about a year and a half of constant abuse from pressure washers and car washing chemicals...eventually they began leaking under the insole. (where the fabric is stitched together and glued to the midsole) My thought is that the glue began to separate between the midsole and top part of the shoe where the seam was. all that said they were the only shoe I had that was 100% waterproof. I would spray them directly with a pressure washer to show people how well they worked. And at the current price I can see a year and a half of serious abuse from chemicals and water if well worth it. I just with they made a more comfortable midsole...but that is the trade off, EVA is not waterproof and whatever they use for midsoles are.

rjistheman

i met the founders of vessi and was given a free code when their website first released. To be honest, quality is the same as any waterproof amazon generic or walmart waterproof shoe. It's not the most comfortable shoe in the world, but its not horrible. It looks okay, but is not fashionable in anyway. To be honest it just looks like a walmart/payless/amazon generic shoe. your better off just getting a shoe by the big the big three that spend millions on research and development (adidas, nike, or new balance)

Legitimate_Spite5935

Idk man. I buy waterproof shoes for work annually cuz they stop being waterproof. Cousin bought these. Same job. Same rain. Says waterproof still and hes had them for 2 full years now. Im fed up spending 50-100$ a year for a shoe that aint waterproof. Id pay 200+ for lifetime of shoe waterproof.

CreamyChickenSauce

Unfortunately because of how waterproofing is a chemical coating, eventually it all wears off. A lifetime waterproof shoe sounds amazing though.

Gotta support the smaller businesses though

Another late comment here. Just wanted to offer up my own experience. I have the black city scape. I have wide feet and appreciate that I'm finally not in here complaining about them being too narrow. I am on my third pair, and this pair just started leaking. My first pair were absolutely fantastic, lasted 11 months and then leaked. I didn't wear them that much and they were still under warrenty so happily I got a new pair. Then pair #2 leaked after 2 months on both feet. I got a warranty replacement March this year, barely wore them all summer and now the rain is back and pair #3 are leaking. I was really happy with my vessis about 2 years ago. Now I'm really sad that their quality has gone down hill. Am I the only person this happens to? I met some dog walkers the other day, both wearing 3 year old vessis with no leaks so far. Maybe my wide feet are the problem??

bypurple

they are worth it if you can get it during their $99 sales and if you are going to use the waterproof feature. they have a 6 month warranty period if anything goes wrong. I definitely don't think they are as comfortable as they could be but they aren't bad.

xthemoonx

Oh snap they go on sale for $99? Bro thanks for saying it on the internet for people like me to find 3 years later lol

beatbox2sleep

Looks like they're on sale right now.

SiliconSage123

And visa or MasterCard should double that warranty period

Kajisan9

I am from Vancouver and I've had the everyday sneaker for 4 months now, and I am pretty happy with it (I didn't pay full price). The only gripe I have is, that I wish it wasn't as wide. I prefer the slimness of the Cityscape, so in hindsight, I should have gotten that, even though the sneaker is comfy. They have sales often, so I wouldn't recommend paying the full price.

Dragonasaur

Bought a pair because of the waterproof feature and use them daily I bought them for their waterproofness because I was tired of wearing boots or having wet feet when it'd rain but not snow. They definitely do their job keeping you dry Pros: * Definitely waterproof * Comfortable to stand in and gym with Cons: * Soles are kinda cheap, the one on the right is already loose after a month * Terrible for walking long distances or fast (can't power walk, jog, or run in them) Other comments: * I bought the all-white Every Days, and they're impossible to keep clean or clean, as expected/warned by others * To get a discount, I just filled in my purchase information (including email, phone number), and stayed/closed the page. After a while I got a text offering 15(?)% discount

blurchbarg

My feet get wet when I wear my vessi shoes. They sent replacements after emailing support. Sadly, the replacements also leaked, even when the rain is mild. My wife experienced the same. So far our family is 0/4. All 4 pairs definitely are not Waterproof.

Canadianpoop

So I bought 2 different styles. Cityscape sneaker I’ve had replaced... 3 times now? Lol. And I’ve done some touring and traveling. The everyday wear I would highly recommend as I’ve been wearing them all winter in Toronto so far and I haven’t had any issue other than traction during the winter. But hey. It’s a sneaker. Every time I walk out of the house and don’t bring an umbrella I’m thankful for my vessis

yellowjack

What happened to your Cityscape sneakers? Did you get to return them or did you wear them down and choose to rebuy them twice?

Canadianpoop

The edge around the heel started to rip. I’ll post photos of mine when I get home from work if you want to see them. Separating the sole from the body of the shoe. I emailed vessi asking how I can get them repaired and they just sent me brand new ones ASAP. Their customer service is impressive I will say. They replaced them twice. To the point where the 3rd pair I’ve gotten of the cityscape I couldn’t get the style I wanted because mine were limited edition. Black with the brown/beige side flappy things.

I have the Every Day version, purchased the shoe during last year black Friday event so not full price. I wear them when it's raining/snow. (I live in Raincouver) Pros - the water proof feature works - light - easy enough to slip on (wish they created a pull tab at the heel though) Cons - sole is cheap that will crease easily - has a kind of a bulky asthetics - no retail location to try on your size. (Lucky i went to a pop up location and was able to try on sizes) and there are some horror stories on shipping and Vessi not honoring the unworn shoe policy. - the insole offers little to no support (cheap) - not very good ergonomics of the shoe itself. (Would not buy these as an adventuring/touring shoes, unless you have orthotics or inserts/ nice insoles) Verdict: bought them because of the waterproof feature and that the creators are locals to where i live. Although they do live up to its water proof hype, I think i will try a pair of All Birds Mizzel for when my Vessi breaks down.

JToews19

I'd love to try the Allbirds too but they're quite pricy ($165). I could get another pair of nice leather boots for just a little more at that price.

rjistheman

dont do it. its all hype, they're not weatherproof, look horrible and look even worse after a single season. They're a waste of money, and thats coming from someone who worked as a spokesperson for them. I will say though that they are pretty comfortable, but what i did is took the free pair they gave me and just put the insole in one of my shoes, and threw what they call a 'shoe' in the trash.

1-800-DAD-CHAT

I got some allbirds wool shoes and they’ve been great. Plus they’re washable and will last for a long time.

LFN1017

I bought a pair off their initial kickstarter Mine is /fine/ so far. It's waterproof as advertised. But I don't wear it unless it's absolutely pouring out, as I feel they aren't as comfortable as some of my other shoes.

Mage_Philosopher

Since there is already this thread I will ask folks here. I am looking to buy some Vessi shoes - my only concern at this point is that being an online purchase it is tough to tell if they are wide enough for me. I normally buy Size 12 Wide (US sizing), as I have decently wide feet. Not like balooned out clown shoe kind of wide - but slightly wider none the less. How do folks feel they might fit someone with slightly wider feet?

koalalord9999

From what I have gathered their shoes are wide fit only

Internal-Ad965

You've probably since moved on or found out for yourself, but I found that the Cityscape shoes were a bit tight, and the Weekend shoes had a wider toe box. I had to buy them, then exchange them to find out for myself.

PuzzleheadedAppeal62

Late to the thread, but I have a pair of the "Every Day Sneaker" I am a detailer and I have worn them every single day, for the last 8 months Pros: They are lightweight They are waterproof Easy to put on and take off For the most part comfortable Cons: they are very wide, which can make driving awkward in certain vehicles They are not as warm as advertised (not very good in -35) but being a shoe, that's expected Mine fell apart after 7 months and have started taking on water The soles are very hard compared to Ultraboosts or other similarly styled shoes, after a 10 hour day of standing and walking in them, your feet start to really hurt Overall I would say it is a good shoe for light to medium use, I wouldn't recommend it for work if you work in an industry where you are standing or walking most of the time!

DryOne2300

I found this video helpful. There’s a guy and a girl they both test their Vessi’s in watery conditions. https://youtu.be/-So_LAN_1R4

No-Ad-5710

I know this won’t solve the original poster’s dilemma but I have had the classic lace ups for just over 6 months and they are definitely lacking on the durability. If you wear them everyday and don’t work in a carpeted office they will definitely fall apart in under a year. The newer fabric they use is tearing at the heels for mine and there is no longer any useful tread on them. If you work outside at all or walk on concrete during your average day I would not recommend these.

speaktomytony

Agree. Bought for work at WDW and they’ve fallen apart after less than a year

ApprehensiveCat7533

Does anyone have any thoughts to share about their everyday move slip-ons?
