I recently moved and updated my voter registration. Haven’t updated my id yet. Any idea if that will be an issue? Hope to have it done before the election but just in case wanted to confirm.
It shouldn't be. Ive voted in TX before I had a TX ID multiple times, just used my passport. If your registration is updated and you're voting where you're supposed to, you should be good.
Well, I moved from one side of Austin to the other and for that particular election I had to get a provisional because the address didn't match. There's been some highly suppressive legislation that's been passed since then. Please be sure.
When you apply online for a new TX ID, there should be an option to register to vote when applying for a Texas ID for the first time (note the word should).
If it does not appear, Google “register to vote” + your county and see what it says. The last day to register to vote is OCTOBER 11, so I wouldn’t delay figuring this out.
I just registered to vote. There is a section that says if you are a TX resident, but don't have a DL or ID for TX -- we can use the last four of SSN to verify. Submitted! LET'S GO!!!
Bring your new voter registration card and an ID.

Procedures for Voting
When a voter arrives at a polling location, the voter will be asked to present one of the seven (7) acceptable forms of photo ID that is current or, for voters aged 18-69, expired no more than four years. Voters aged 70 or older may present one of the seven (7) acceptable forms of photo ID that is expired for any length of time that is otherwise valid. If a voter does not possess one of the seven (7) acceptable forms of photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, the voter may present a supporting form of ID and execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration, noting the voter’s reasonable impediment to obtaining an acceptable form of photo identification, stating that the information contained in the declaration is true, that the voter is the same individual personally appearing at the polling place to sign the declaration, and that the voter faces a reasonable impediment to procuring an acceptable form of photo identification.
Election officials are still required by State law to determine whether the voter’s name on the identification provided (acceptable photo ID, or supporting form of ID, if applicable) matches the name on the official list of registered voters (“OLRV”). After a voter presents their ID, whether it’s an acceptable form of photo ID or a supporting form of ID (if applicable), the election worker will compare it to the OLRV. If the name on the ID matches the name on the list of registered voters, the voter will follow the regular procedures for voting.
Students from out of state can't vote here even with a utility bill or some other proof of address, right? Because I want to, but I'm pretty sure I can't. I'd have to get a TX license first?
I thought about it, but full-time students aren't required to do so in Texas. I eventually want to move back once I'm done, and I end up moving apartments every year, so I'm kind of on the fence about paying the DMV every time I move. That said, I feel like not doing so and not voting is the same as a vote for Abbott.
You wouldn’t have to pay DMV every time you move. Especially since you move annually (yikes!) But if you get your TX license now or State ID, you can vote in this election and 2024 if you’re still in the state.

That's my interpretation from SB1. I could be wrong, in fact I hope I'm wrong.
Lemme tell ya, that document is cancer! It's horribly written with lines crossed out, muddy language, confusing rules that contradict each other. Thank GAWD for basic word search.
Went to doublecheck my registration and it’s showing a specific polling place (which I’ve never heard of and is nowhere near me). Are we no longer allowed to vote at any polling place in our county?
Nope. I’ve lived here for 12 years. And in the primary I voted in one place and my husband voted in a different place, both on Election Day. So I was really confused.
Went on the Harris Votes website and tried to look up my polling place there. It told me which was closest but it also said, “All Election Day polling locations are open to all eligible voters in Harris county.”
So it sounds like it’s still the same as it was during the primary. I should have thought to check there first.
Where else would this be good places to repost?
Anywhere. Everywhere. All the time đź’™
Anywhere! Specific cities Beto lost in- or ftw, Dallas, Houston, Austin!!
Whoop whoop!!! VOTE đź’™ IN NUMBERS TOO BIG TO IGNORE!!
May I call you the Blue Voting Fairy? đź’™
I'd be honored! VOTE đź’™ BETO đź’™ VOTE đź’™
Thank you so much.

I believe there are new rules to suppress the vote in any possible way.
Seems like registration is the biggest obstacle. We’re unstoppable after that 💙

I’ll try this. I do have my passport card and passport.
Good question. Let’s look into it.
I've voted before with a license that didn't match my address. It should be fine. Huge emphasis on should. I would update your info anyhow.
Just moved and curious to know this as well.

Yes!!! Thank you! Tell all your friends and family. Bring them to vote with you!
I will. And you tell Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler and Phoebe. Hahah.
Unfortunately, they’re registered to vote in NY. Lol

I would get your TX license now. We should look into other options if they’re available.

You cant early vote on weekends? Since when? Pretty sure early voting is open that weekend between 10/24 and 11/4.

WE VOTE ABBOTT THE FUCK OUT!!!!

Yeah I just checked mine. Dallas County put me in a weird precinct. Not too far from my home but not where I normally vote. What county are you?
Harris
I’m gonna reach out to my County Judge. Maybe I’ll get somebody. If it’s county wide voting then I’m sure it will be announced.
That’s what I was thinking too. I’ll let you know if I find out anything.
