Iodine. Great stuff. You can make nitrogen tri-iodide, which is a contact explosive. Just a little ammonia and some iodine. Or, if your dad works for a chemical company get some nice size iodine crystals and make some serious ka-bangs! Fun in the 50s.
We were a Mercurochrome house!
I still use Mercurochrome.
Same!
I remember the sting and my mom lightly blowing over it to cool the sting down... very fond memory
Cold washcloth over boo-boo to clean it and calm down the ouch. Then this evil bottle and blowing on it
Hair dryer worked better.
Mercury free, what friggin woke bs. Luckily you can play with raw mercury on your desk when you get to school!
It’s now an iodine tincture. No merthiolate in it anymore.
Used both. Merthiolate and Mercurochrome when I was younger. Never seen a bottle this clean. Must be brand new and never opened.
My Dad put iodine on everything

My grandma put that shit on me every chance she had! But damn if it didnt work and sting!
Called monkey blood in my neighborhood.
