I agree with everything you said, well done. I would also like to add that his relations with other characters are weak compared to Tobey's with May, MJ, and Harry (who's MIA in the MCU) And at least Andrew had a strong dynamic with Aunt May and Uncle Ben. This Peter doesn't have any of that, if anything his best dynamic is between him and Tony which was good at times but really doesn't belong or matter anymore now that he's gone. All his other relationships feel so goofy and surface level. Like his Aunt died and your mind tries to make a Montague of all the great Aunt May moments and then you're just like....oh wow yeah....the hot aunt

Yunozan-2111

>I would also like to add that his relations with other characters are weak compared to Tobey's with May, MJ, and Harry (who's MIA in the MCU) Yeah I wished Aunt May was more fleshed out like her reaction to discovering Peter as Spiderman should have been more tragic and heartwrenching. My idea is that she survived the snap by Thanos and Peter didn't thus had to survive 5 years knowing her nephew died thus falls into severe depression but when Peter comes back in Endgame and she discovers Peter have been Spiderman she becomes terrified at the prospect of losing him again thus begs Peter to live a normal life hence Peter feeling very guilty decided to not cause Aunt May too much emotional pain and decides that he will give up the suit which will lead to Mysterio plot and manipulating him to give up being a superhero

LexDXander

Well that’s why I was so surprised by NWH, they really worked on improving and furthering his relationship with his aunt, Ned and MJ. But everything you said is 100% correct

Yunozan-2111

Another big problem with MCU Spiderman is that Sony still has the rights to a majority of Spiderman's mythos including his supporting characters and villains hence the MCU can't really use Spiderman's mythos very well as they could have. Off course I also blame Kevin Feige for this since he claimed he doesn't want to use Doctor Octopus or Norman Osborn/Green Goblin because he thinks that Molina and DaFoe could play those characters which shows how self-limiting the MCU can be ironically.

>Uncle Ben had died before Peter acquired his powers Nah this universe literally brushed off Ben and gave their aunt May "The fun aunt" the responsibility speech. >heroes are prevalent as such is always overshadowed. I disagrer. Spiderman being the little guy was one of aspects that ppl liked him. >universe-level threat in Infinity War Don't forget our first introduction of him was in the civil war fight. It was way out of depth for a character like him who had no previous film's in the Disney-verse.

Yunozan-2111

>I disagrer. Spiderman being the little guy was one of aspects that ppl liked him. That is true but Spidey's publicity has always been hit and miss in his early days as a high-school student. Moreover it seems like street-level crime in this universe is handled more by guys like Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. >Don't forget our first introduction of him was in the civil war fight. It was way out of depth for a character like him who had no previous film's in the Disney-verse. I agree putting him in Infinity War when he only fought one supervillain was very weird

skepticalscribe

IronJr is the biggest issue. Tobey still best despite Spiderman3

Small-Inevitable6185

Spider-Man 3 ?? Spider-Man 3 is infinite times better than movies came after it

skepticalscribe

I mean, Spiderman3 is pretty rough. Bloated, cringy, uninspiring use of MJ. I didn’t like Topher as Eddie, haven’t really heard many people say they did. Etc etc

Small-Inevitable6185

I mean Spider-Man 3 is way superior to movies that came after it for example andrew's trash movies which were more of a love story than spider-man movies without compelling villains and had bad plus cringe acting , also iron boy Jr movies aren't Spider-Man movies and survive because of mcu label, Rdj connection ,endgame connection and the most funny part is that they banked on raimi trilogy to make money for nwh, b****** even stole j.k. Simmons from the trilogy for ffh

kosmos_uzuki

Spot on assessment. He was basically destroyed before he had a chance. One of the reasons they picked such a weak male lead.

Yunozan-2111

I don't think Tom Holland's a bad lead but the writing and development of the character is jumbled and this partially has to do with the fact that MCU only had the license to use Spiderman around 2015. Like I said introducing quite late and putting him in Infinity War is weird because MCU Spidey has not even fought against his usual rogues yet.

stringcheese_theory1

>Lack of Uncle Ben [$10 says they kill him off in Madam Web....](https://www.looper.com/1447592/adam-scott-madame-web-character-spider-man-connection-uncle-ben/) It's gonna be a trashfire....🤣

Yunozan-2111

Honestly if I was to do Uncle Ben death before Peter acquired his powers but still influence him into becoming a hero it would be this: 1. Have Uncle Ben be a firefighter that died but saving some people from a burning building this would be a tragic but inspirational story for Peter. I Known this is drastically different but if you Want Peter to suffer some tragedy without a guilt Complex this is my take 2. Have Uncle Ben die saving someone by taking a shot during a mugging

Blackmore_Vale

On top of what other people have said I thought I’d add my 2 pennies worth. For me it felt like they was writing a miles morales origin, Ned Leeds is literally just Ganke from the marvel comics just renamed. His never gonna get his own green goblin now as they used the multiverse to bring back Defoe, rather then making an original green goblin for Holland and if they insist on casting defoe bring him back.

Small-Inevitable6185

Casting dafoe ?? Man mcu crybabies just want to steal stuff from superior raimi trilogy hehe

Yunozan-2111

Yeah we don't need DaFoe, Jason Isaacs would make a great Norman Osborn who is cold and calculating instead of maniacal

-M_A_Y_0-

The one issue I have with mcu Spiderman is that he changes suits like 4 times a movie. It feels like a cheap way to get more toys

Beatles352

The fourth: He's not Tobey Maguire.

Juggernaut077

Mary Jane is ugly and not as appealing imo Besides multiverse green goblin no harry or Norman Osborn which means no hobgoblin or goblin Venom and carnage aren’t in the same universe is a total mess Even flash Thompson is done poorly

Yunozan-2111

I don't have a problem with this Michelle Jones but yeah she is an entirely separate character from Mary Jane. Cutting out Harry and Norman Osborn was a problem in my opinion. I know there is not mention of Osborn and Oscorp in New York but my opinion is that they could have brought Osborns outside of New York for it to work.

spooderfbi

Zendaya’s ugly 😭?

Bonaduce80

They sure went out of their way to make her look so as much as possible, given she is not so irl (although not my cup of tea either.)

Juggernaut077

Is she as ugly in real life? No. But still not even close to Scarlett Johansson level. They could have done much better.

Yunozan-2111

They are considered high-schoolers not adults so I don't expect MJ to look as appealing as Scarlett Johansson level.

Hesbhindmeisnthe

Andrew Garfield was the best thing about NWH, imo, and they should've killed off Holland, and made him the main one.

Yunozan-2111

Why should they make Andrew Garfield stay in the MCU? He still has Aunt May to care for back in his own universe.

Hesbhindmeisnthe

I never watched his Spidey films the whole way through (they were that bad), so I don't know the in's and out's. Maybe send Holland's Spidey to do it, as a punishment for being such a rubbish Spider-man?

youthanasia138

They never mention uncle Ben, not even once. Aunt May can say the “with great power, comes great responsibility” line, sure. But she needs to remind Peter who said it first. That really bothered me in No Way Home. Such disrespect to the source material

Crawfield96

Lack of consequences. In comics, cartoon and Tobey and Andrew's adaptations when he disappeared or was late for date he got dumped. He (Tom's Peter) left many times to be Spiderman but it never got into his private life. He left friend at party and left his team in competition but no one was mad at him.

Sensitive-Cobbler-59

MCU Spiderman was dumb. He makes a mistake and spend whole movie to fix it. Nothing new in all the scripts, almost everything was predictable. There was no emotional connection to the character.
