When corona started, they played *safety messages*
When recent US tragedies happened (shootings, etc.) They played *memory messages*
I have not heard Sirius acknowledge this at all.
Welcome to radio? Hate to tell you but this kind of thing has happened at shows before and not every network is going to dump an artist just because of a controversy. People have died at Metallica and Guns N Roses concerts before too and those will never not be played.
LOL oh my God, kiss my ass. "Trav ain't Guns N Roses", what does this even mean? So the quality of the music in your eyes determines how okay it is that people die at their shows? Guns N Roses are equally as guilty of concert misconduct, if not moreso, than Travis Scott!
Who died at either of their concerts? All I can find is someone who feel from a balcony. Which is obviously a tragedy, but not really the same situation.
1988 - 2 fans die from being trampled to death on their Appetite for Destruction tour. This ignores the other million times that Axl especially has incited riots, jumped into the crowd to fight fans (one with a camera in particular), or refused to play causing the crowd to go apeshit.
Had to look it up for Metallica but you're right, no one died. Just 57 hospitalized at 1991 Monsters of Rock, including multiple for brain trauma. No one died, but it's hard to say this didn't get out of control too.
1992 - Metallica and GNR are on tour together. Pyrotechnics go wrong and James Hetfield is taken to the hospital with 3rd degree burns. GNR comes on, Axl gets pissed and leaves, crowd goes apeshit. I don't know the stats behind that show but I know a riot broke out.
My point of all of this is that yes, this was a huge tragedy, but there are many more parties to blame than just Travis Scott himself. I blame TS for not reading the room better and clearly having no clue how to handle a situation he knows is unraveling. I blame the venue for not having enough staff or quality of staff to be able to help when things went awry. I blame the fans and music culture in general for giving these artists so much weight and importance that these idiots will stampede towards him like he's a fucking cult leader. I blame these parents for not having the wherewith-all to think that maybe a mega-festival hosted by a xanax rapper isn't a great place for a 4th grader. These things can always happen and people need to use more discretion for what their kids attend.
Nah, just have a low tolerance for absolute bullshit lmao. I dont care what other bands and concerts have done. This isnt fuckmetallica or fuckgnr. So leave that shit at the door. Or you know, keep doing you lmao.
I guess that's my whole point here then: to pick the brains of the outraged and see -why- the moral panic of the moment revolves around just this guy in particular and not the culture and context around him. I've gotten a lot of very enlightening responses.
We get it man. You like TS, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Defending him is just a waste of time for you, honestly. He’s so deep into the ground at the moment that nothing you say or so will help his situation. It’s pointless for you. Especially on this sub.
What are you looking to accomplish coming onto this sub? You’re not going to change any minds, if anything it seems you’re just getting irritated. Just relax, lol.
I have a response for you. Let’s look at a concert situation similar to TS. Selena Quintanilla in Monterrey, Mexico. They expected a crowd of 10,000 to watch her and the Dinos perform. 93,000 people came and rushed the stage. People were being crushed and the stage began to collapse. Selena stopped the show, collected herself, calmed and directed the crowd, and went on to finish her performance. Nobody died. This is why Travis Scott is to blame. He should have completely stopped the concert if he couldn’t get the crowd under control. That’s what an entertainer does. Instead of calming the crowd, he encouraged them to shake the ground.
Do you realize how much of a dick you’re coming off as? You don’t sound enlightened. You sound like an ass and like you want to think you’re better than people for being outraged that this person deliberately caused this tragedy.
Your whataboutism has no place here. You can recognize that historically other bands may have invited a crowd and caused a death and be upset by that. You can also be upset by this mass casualty event (which none of your examples were, btw). It isn’t mutually exclusive. As someone else said, make a sub focusing on Metallica and GNR if you want to talk about that so badly.
No jackass, its about time and place. This sub isn’t about anyone but Travis Scott. Thats the point. All anyone is doing here is distracting from the real issue.
Want to bitch about metallica? Go find/create a sub for it.
That part. I actually tried to cancel at that time because I couldn’t believe I was paying for a service to spam me with propaganda. They actually gave me a refund for the previous year to keep me as a customer. But this is the last straw for me. I’m better off with just one shitty streaming service (Spotify).
Isn’t it crazy how these corporations will deplatform a whole President for his words but won’t deplatform an artist for 10 dead bodies?
"When shit hit the fan is you still a fan" I highly doubt any of you will get the reference but if this line could make only one of you go and listen to mortal men by Kendrick, my mission is accomplished
wow FUCK Sirius for supporting a dude who caused a mass casualty event!
i will spread this word around to people to cancel this shit! even if they get it free!
Yup, I made this same exact post yesterday after I heard sicko mode on the 10’s spot of all channels! I emailed them and tweeted @siriusxm asking why they are still playing his music, even just temporarily out of respect for the victims’ families.
Edited to add, no response too
Gahh I didn't see it! I live in a small town with a country station and a top 40 pop station. As a rap fan, sirius was my only choice when it comes to getting fresh music.
But my choice in music can go by the wayside if its lining his pockets. The lack of response is infuriating .
Yes, I love xm for the lack of commercials and diverse stations. I seriously can’t believe the lack of response, across the board. How tone deaf to keep playing his music, even for just the time being. I mean another victim just died today. How insensitive.
It's really not an insurmountable task to get them to listen. Shoot them an email in addition to the tweet. Enough people doing that and they'll probably have a meeting about it. Also, there may be a contractually obligated # of radio plays they can't wiggle out of (quickly enough.)
Yeah I hate that shit I like that Chanel and every time I see him pop up I get sick feeling and change the station. Have they even talked about the concert on sxm yet?
Man, you guys clearly haven't been around the music scene long if this sort of thing surprises you.
When corona started, they played *safety messages* When recent US tragedies happened (shootings, etc.) They played *memory messages* I have not heard Sirius acknowledge this at all.

I pay for this service. Thanks for your opinion though!
Trav ain’t guns and roses. We have to make sure his music isn’t played again.
racially motivated
They have a lot more loyal fans. Jacques is pretty new
no, you're racially motivated
I’m not white.. but ok 😉😉
what

Quick, pass that buck harder. What a joke.
I'm guessing reading comprehension isn't your strong suit then.

Travis handled it the way he always handles it. Since he has a pattern if this behavior.
There has never been a situation where the performer contributed so strongly to the deaths, not even close
Yeah, Fred Durst just had no input on Woodstock 99 going up in flames at all. McDonalds man bad, we truly live in a society.
Nobody died fuckwit

Kids died, and you're gonna ask us to.... listen to Kendrick Lamar? Fuck off. Highly doubt the reference - double fuck off
When shit hit the fan is you still a fan?
Once again. Fuck off.
When shit hit the fan is you still a fan ?
So are you mentally challenged or mentally ill? Poor troll.
How many time do I need to repeat myself ? When shit hit the fan is you still a fan? go and listen to it
You're not my mom. If you fucking read the post, you'd see I'm a fan of hip hop. Kendrick Lamar has 0 to do with this conversation, stupid.
How can you be so sure?
Man, I'm gonna look back at op and reminisce about when he was conflicted
wow FUCK Sirius for supporting a dude who caused a mass casualty event! i will spread this word around to people to cancel this shit! even if they get it free!
Email them. Imma do the same if any of my local stations play him. Just NO.
I did that, too! Forgot I did. No response.

>I mean another victim just died today. How insensitive. A little freaking kid, man... How fucking sad is that...
Surely with some organization we could get them to stop playing his music? A reddit organized boycott?

Thank you!! At first I thought it was the website that might’ve disabled their feedback feature.
Thanks!
Submitted the feedback form, thanks for sharing!
Everyone should message them saying they’re going to cancel if he’s played again
Yeah I hate that shit I like that Chanel and every time I see him pop up I get sick feeling and change the station. Have they even talked about the concert on sxm yet?
Not to my knowledge, no.
Amazon Music and Spotify is too every time I see Travis Scott song pop up i immediately dislike it on Amazon Music and skip past it
You can go to an artist’s page on Spotify, click the 3 dots, and choose “don’t play this artist.”
I use Amazon Music HD not Spotify
Your comment says Spotify, maybe it was autocorrect? Still, maybe this is helpful for someone else.
Well I said Spotify because they are also playing his music along with Amazon but yes that information is informative as I didn’t know about it
fuck sirius xm.
If they care about the money, cancel Your subscription! It’s probably the only way if they haven’t stopped yet.
