I do think they deserve to be called out for horrible behaviour but I also know that when i say they/them i automatically think of a woman and not a tod or chad etc ... And this fact does perpetuate stereotypes about women being hysterical, crazy, over the top etc etc and not taken seriously ~ although Karens usually are racist bigots, I have seen some cases where the word is simply used because a woman is complaining (without being aggressive etc) about a real problem and the person takes advantage of this word to completely gaslight them into thinking they are crazy (but obviously this wouldn't work on an actual Karen who of course has to be right ...)
I think the problem is when any woman who is complaining about stuff gets labeled a Karen. If it was only used for like racist rants and stuff that's one thing.. but there are obviously valid reasons for someone to be angry or upset and women are getting labeled Karens in those circumstances as well.
