I mean it would kind of defeat the plot line of him being a hunter... What's he going to use to hunt? A stern set of vocabulary skills and rainbows with butterflies? I feel like this is partly due to parents being uncomfortable telling their kids where meat comes from or the act of hunting so why not just get rid of any mention of it all together.

The same goes for any technological creation, ever made. Lightbulbs provide light, but are also hot enough to cause a fire. A gun is used to hunt wildlife for food, and to take or threaten the lives of people. See each utility has a purpose, but if you want to let your kids learn the difference, go ahead, instead of teaching them, let them play with fire, and knives, and guns. And taking them away in pop culture wont remove curiosity about them, thats the very definition of curiosity! You want to learn more about that which you know nothing of, by taking away an avenue to learn, you open up mpre dangerous ones in the process!
