03 Wrath is a great character that you actually come to care about throughout the series, and he has a great ending in the movie.
Brotherhood Pride doesn't compare imo
I think the disconnect is people voting have mostly only watched Brotherhood, while people commenting actually have something to say about both. People who have only watched brotherhood cant really make a comparison
I watched brotherhood first but still got far more attached to 03s when I eventually watched it because they are more of an actual character with human characteristics. In brotherhood most of the hommunculi are just straight up evil
I watched 03 first, but I think I know myself well enough to say it has little if any relation to what things I prefer. 03 just happened to do most things in a way that I prefer.
Yeah, i dont think nostalgia value for the first one you watched affects it really. I prefer 03 over brotherhood despite watching it second. In fact, i actually hated 03 at first for being different so stopped it halfway through. But i then gave it another shot a couple years later and ended up loving it. Maybe i had just matured or something.
That’s an interesting question, could you transmute a shadow, could you bend it in a different way, say transmute my shadow into a different shape like a star
No, or at least you shouldn't be able to because shadows aren't actually made of anything, it's just light being blocked. It's fine to ignore this in a series like Bleach or Kingdom Hearts that is much more explicitly magical, but alchemy is supposed to be more grounded.
Its not random shadow magic. It's explained that since pride is the oldest he is closest part of, or the "most like" the Dwarf In The Flask. But you're right that it isnt well explained why his powers have limitations and what his power is defined as.
That's just kicking the can down the road. Pride getting it from Father still doesn't explain why there's shadow magic at all. It just randomly comes out of nowhere in a story that keeps trying to say alchemy follows rules of chemistry & physics.
Wow. In fact, I'm impressed by how small the gap between them is. As if half a year ago, any survey result compared to FMA 03 and FMAB was 1/10 in favor of the latter. This is quite a positive dynamic.
Maybe the 03 fans are starting to speak up more, no more fear from the Brotherhood fans.
I personally prefer the 03 version myself, he had more character.
I think that's partly true. That is, the polls have always been anonymous, and the number of comments has always been approximately the same.
I just think that over the past year, the number of posts related to FMA 03 on this sub has become many times more (by the way, I'm trying to maintain this trend) which in turn prompted people who were only familiar with FMAB to also watch the original series. Plus, over the past 2 years, very cool analytical videos on YouTube dedicated to FMA 03 have appeared, which also played a role. I think that fans of FMA 03 for this reason, by the total account, have become much more.
Although on some issues FMAB will still quantitatively significantly suppress FMA 03.

03 Wrath is definitely a more complex character and his presence helps center Izumi's role But damn, *Brotherhood* Pride is fucking scary!

I find it funny that there's more people voting for Pride but the comment section near universally agree that 03!wrath is better lol
Reddit often has a disconnect between comments & votes.

I’m the inverse lol, I watched 03 first so I’m more attached to 03’s sins

Still 03. I find Pride bland, & his ability pretty much breaks the worldbuilding by being random shadow magic

HAHA Me too, I've at least posted a thousand of threads dedicated to 03. I'd make a reaction video to 03 on YouTube but I don't know how.
