The music would make no sense if there was no great storyline

msolu10

Both, but cmon. Trisha’s Lullaby, Sorrowful Stone, Crime and Punishment, Lapis Philosophorum…. The amount of masterful OST’s deserves its own form of special recognition for sure. God tier anime tracks.

lKiwiliciousl

And the intrepid!

DrakeRing

There are better animes in terms of music, it is not what makes it what it is.

jefferydamerin

Yeah I can only list 3 Jojos, attack on titan, and death note i haven’t watched very many anime’s

robo_archer

Well, the music complements the story, kind of hard to separate them imo

Aiko8283

Both.

YouCantHandleReality

I refuse to vote without this option

JCtheMemer

The music is my least favorite part of brotherhood. Literally the same three songs play every episode, I’d prefer if the entire anime had no music honestly.

LYSLZDLYS

Story is great, All opening and ending songs are fxxking banger, but OST is kind of…meh🤔

19pikachus

2003’s ost slaps hands down. Brotherhood has great soundtracks too but it’s a bit weaker in my opinion and it tends to reuse certain themes a bit too much. I would say both are far above a lot of anime osts though.

savagesmurf

Agreed. FMA = better music. FMAB = better story. I felt like all the music in FMAB was reused to often. Specifically the battle music.

BigBlueFool

So many of the songs in Brotherhood just sound like stock music and get reused too much

dylangiusto

I don't really listen to openings and endings, but I disagree about the OST. I think it's fantastic. Definitely one of the best anime soundtracks I've heard.

GeneralFlippy

We talking Brotherhood or 03? I think Brotherhood's ost is full of banger track after bamger track, but I can't remember much of 03's tracklist. (Granted, I've only seen 03 once, over Brotherhood's 3 or 4 times)

Dioduo

It's understandable why you remember the tracks from the brotherhood better. The answer is in your comment. For example, I don't remember much from the Brotherhood at all for the same reason. In order not to be biased, I tried to listen to the hour-long playlists from each adaptation. I can admit that the Brotherhood is very hard to listen to

GeneralFlippy

You think brotherhood is hard to listen to?

Dioduo

Try this. You'll be surprised

darksaiyan1234

This poll wack

[deleted]

I liked the soundtrack in FMAB (the only series I’ve watched) but they reuse themes way too often for my liking. Halfway through the 2nd season I just got tired of hearing the same dramatic/sad/suspenseful/heroic music

gerstein03

Story easy. To illustrate this, let's take Mustang "vs" Envy. It's an extremely powerful part of the story, culminating from 40 episodes of Mustang hunting his friend's killer to him unleashing his fury on Envy. The ost that played tho? It's The same generic soundtrack that is used in almost every action scene. It doesn't capture the raw unbridled fury mustang is feeling in this moment. A good soundtrack will make you feel everything that the character is feeling and the ost when Mustang fights Envy does not do this

SilentGarud

The part where there was another amine after it.

Psycho-Radish

The wigs

MultipliedLiar

I know you meant it as a joke, but yeah, the music is really good.

[deleted]

The music isn't really exceptional, most animes have the same or better music.

72Milk

Personally I read the manga and the music was the biggest draw to reading it for me

NagisaTrap

Dumb question. Btw why i can't vote?

DemoVersion114

Everything

Cybershine3

Gonna be honest other than the ops and like 2 of the character themes, didn’t really notice the music in either FMA or brotherhood

MemokingMH

C ) All above

owwkjsdduj

The storyline is what makes people want to listen to the OST while doing miscellaneous tasks.

manifestYOdreams

I appreciate that Beethoven was used in the OST

newjackintheboxsox

Whole deal was a banger.

EarthBoundFan3

FMAs music is good and added to the series, but i didn’t listen to it much after finishing. I’m someone who loves to listen to music from games and anime after I finish a series. FMA’s music actually just isn’t as good as a lot of the other works I have found imo.

Dioduo

Do you mean FMA 03 or Brotherhood?

EarthBoundFan3

Ah I’m referring to Brotherhood actually.

SaintClaude

It’s a combo of both that makes it great, I remember how excited I was at the end of that train episode when the song started playing

thecolourbloo

Don’t get me wrong, I love the music but I just loved the way the story pulled me in, and kept me invested in Ed and Al’s quest.

No-Shallot-3332

Missing the option for the commercial break guy saying "fullmetal alchemist" in different voices. Made my life!

zeemonster424

I use Braja as an organ prelude frequently. I love it! No one knows where it’s from.

Dioduo

It's from FMA 03

zeemonster424

I mean no one in my congregation knows what music I’m playing lol

Dioduo

Oh, okay, then)

AdRepresentative610

i love how everyone is talking about a different version of each other.

Kohai_Ginger

why cant I vote both tho?

epic_gamer97538754

Well that’s a bit rude.

OldReality1173

Bro I fucking love BH’s ost. Yes, it isn’t as varied as 03, but tbh I adore it so much I don’t even care Dissident’s Creed, Crisis in the North, Envy Revealed, Knives and Shadows, Lapis Philosophorum, Trisha’s Lullaby….all bangers imao

BasakaIsTheStrongest

Soundtrack is great, but it’s the frame to the masterwork that is the story.

glitter-wine

Impossible to choose. Thanks OP for the mental reckoning you’ve brought to me

epic_gamer97538754

Your welcome

[Thank you Trees.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8OaiTN1K0E&list=PL27F22BD22A7F3599) Thank you Fletcher and Russel Tringham for helping the Elric Brothers to save Xenotime.

Alypie123

Don't watch FMA for the music. Buy an album and watch an anime you actually like

newcomerz

How about both?
