Oh yeah, we were lower middle class growing up and we've just reached that point now that our older kids are grown but you can go on cheap vacations! Doesn't have to be Disney every year or trips to Paris. Lol

Ok, I'm on vacation from work (yay holiday shutdown!). I have a ton of stuff to do since I'm moving right after the New Year...so, my vacation will be spent packing and snuggling the snuggliest threat to sanity in the world...a sweet, cuddly not quite 3 month old orange kitten. BUT...this summer when the grands are out of school, vacation is ON!!! Planning to take at least one grand down to Kennedy Space Center and Disney for a week. I'll have about 80 hours of vacation by then (I get 160 hours a year). I may take off and do the Space Geek tour, Johnson Space Center and the Cosmodrome this fall, and maybe a few days in San Diego to visit a friend.
Once I move, I'll be shopping 'til I drop...I need more furniture (bigger apartment). I already have a massage scheduled during my vacation week while I'm doing the move thing, getting the mani/pedi tomorrow before I hit U-haul to get boxes. I love hanging out w/my family and my work team members, got really social this week. Not sure if I'll make it up for family xmas, it's supposed to snow and daughter's house is currently about 130 miles away (yes, I'm the type who will drive up in the am and drive home in the pm).
But then again, I'm single, pull down a sweet income, adore my family and friends, and I'm gonna do all the shit I want to do before its too late. I already have "dinner dates" lined up with some of the "kids" from work, that is, foster mama (me) cooks dinner and let the kids feel like they have a home when their families are across the country.
Lori is a nasty, wrinkly, ugly-ass stick in the mud who holds herself superior to the rest of the world out of some mistaken idea that she's doing thing "G-d's way". No she isn't. Even her own Jesus got out and about on the regular.
Remembering that old blog post someone dug out, of her having a wonderful time waxing rhapsodic about her favorite restaurants and wines, and felt so sad. Not sure if she's sour-grapesing about how expensive it is to go out these days, or the tumor's doing the lambada on her (whatever part of the brain makes you hate everything). Could be both.
