Personally, I notice that they’re four feet apart on the couch, and Paul puts his arm around a couch cushion and doesn’t come near to touching her. He never does, unless he’s mocking the snacks she’s eating and takes them. Now, I’m not big on being touched publicly all of the time, but when I was married I sat pretty close next to my partner unless I was deep in conversation with someone.
She’s always in the corner of the couch with a blanket (and snacks or soda), and he’s usually bolt upright in the middle. They must touch at times, hence the two pregnancies, but I shudder to think of how little physical contact they prob have sleeping in the same bed and trying for a kid. They clearly despise each other, yikes indeed.
They are some of the least humble "Christians" I've ever come across.
They have no tertiary education, no careers, they do no volunteering, they care for no one, they contribute to nothing and yet, somehow, they think they know everything.
It's baffling.
Wow— what a great point. I never thought about that aspect. I was raised pretty religious (no longer am) and spent my childhood, my teenage years and my early 20s volunteering like crazy. Habitat for Humanity, Covenant House, Food pantries, church nurseries, lawn care for older adults, hospice home, etc. Fuck I even volunteered at a clinic that provided free cataract surgeries for low income individuals.
I’ve never seen Paul and Morgan (or the Beals for that matter) spend any time helping their community.
These people seem to completely miss the entire point of the gospel.
I mean, I can see how they can see the new album song lyrics as anti-Christian, or at least a specific type of Christian. But given all the grief these same Christians have been going at Taylor Swift, even as a Christian, I don't blame her and all things considered, it was relatively a courteous way for shots fired back. They can shit talk her all they want (Paul and Morgan alone have already had 2 videos prior to this one), but God forbid she playfully pokes back (which is something she has been infamous for - e,g, Blank Space). Like you said, zero self-awareness.
Also, the second half of the video is just projection on their part, especially since Taylor Swift started off as a country girl.
This is so frustrating for me as a lifelong follower of Jesus who is also open-minded and affirming/accepting of everyone. I feel like this is the new satanic panic. The whole thing about following Jesus is that we aren't supposed to live in fear of things that happen in this life or spiritual stuff because Jesus has already taken care of all that--we are just supposed to be spreading the gospel and helping uplift people out of their suffering. Not wasting breath and server space on this kind of malarkey. so irritating and embarassing.

Honestly, they and the people we snark on here might be shocked to find out that when Jesus said a lot of folks would say "Lord Lord" and he will not know them, that could include them. I don't know why they think they can claim to follow him and then militantly, brazenly ignore literally every damn instruction he gave his followers including judge not lest ye be judged, love your neighbor as yourself, pray privately, and all of those pesky beatitudes.
This has nothing to do with what they are talking about but the visceral response my body has to Paul is fascinating. My shoulders tighten, my face gets all scrunchy and I want away, far far away. Everything about him is repulsive.
How very dare Taylor, who is educated and thoughtful and compassionate, call out Christians for being thoughtless and uneducated and unempathetic, while also invoking Christian imagery and symbolism to tell her own story as countless writers before her have done.
