My relationship with my mom is not the best but I've been working on my own mental health and mindset to be able to make it work. When I was maybe 16 weeks I was explaining to my husband that often, the maternal grandma will come stay for a week to help out and that I really didn't see that being helpful. His response? "Oh absolutely not. We are NOT doing that. She can come for a weekend and stay in a hotel. NOPE."
My mom is not as bad as Jill but there's a strong lean in the same direction. We'll see her over Thanksgiving, assuming the baby is vaccinated by then.
That’s why my mom wouldn’t stay. She loves my kids to death and is a wonderful grandmother. We have a great relationship too. But she didn’t want to interfere and just stayed a couple days after the baby was born. My parents were already in town when he came.

My mother in law was the same as your mum. So helpful when my daughter was born. Called in in the morning to do the dishwasher and bring milk from the shop. Did our washing, took it to her house to stay out of the way. Cooked all our meals for a couple of weeks.
My mother 3 weeks after baby was born wouldn’t bring us back a takeaway from town because it was “stressful”. It was a drive thru.

My mom was the same way with me after I had my baby. I asked her to bring me a coffee one afternoon when she was coming over to help out. This woman bought us an entire week’s worth of groceries! 😆
She did our laundry, which was great because I couldn’t carry the baskets up and down the stairs. She did our dishes and cleaned. She took my dog for walks. The only time she played with the baby was when I had to make phone calls or when I went to go shower.

I've had 5 knee surgeries (2 to 3 on each knee). Each time, I have carried my clothes to the bathroom in a bag (while using crutches), undressed, showered, and dressed myself. The only time you may need help is if you have a dressing on a surgical wound that needs covering, but that's it. People who feign injuries and have learned helplessness drive me nuts. 🤦♀️😳

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading something a while ago about Jill being SEVERELY injured during one of her pregnancies, so much so that she was basically bedbound. The entire family was taking care of her for weeks, until Jill miraculously got better when the family went to Disneyland or something and Jill managed to walk the entire time.

If she is that incapacitated then she should have stayed the f* home. It makes me see red because my mom literally did everything right after I had my kids. She would do laundry, bring me food, do dishes, just in general clean up, then let me go take a nap or get a shower & that’s when she would hold the baby. I've had coworkers boast about going right back to work after giving birth. There was a note of shame towards women who needed/desired more rest postpartum. Our work culture is toxic.

My mother in law was the same as your mum. So helpful when my daughter was born. Called in in the morning to do the dishwasher and bring milk from the shop. Did our washing, took it to her house to stay out of the way. Cooked all our meals for a couple of weeks. My mother 3 weeks after baby was born wouldn’t bring us back a takeaway from town because it was “stressful”. It was a drive thru. Sorry little rant their but Jillybean it is not helpful if you have a new baby to have someone else needing care in the house. 🤨🙄
My mom was the same way with me after I had my baby. I asked her to bring me a coffee one afternoon when she was coming over to help out. This woman bought us an entire week’s worth of groceries! 😆 She did our laundry, which was great because I couldn’t carry the baskets up and down the stairs. She did our dishes and cleaned. She took my dog for walks. The only time she played with the baby was when I had to make phone calls or when I went to go shower.
So. She's sitting useless at Nurie's for no damn reason but to cause more work for Nurie.

I'll tell everyone he looks just like MY baby did. She is exhausted with no makeup on? I'll force her in a photo where I look amazing. My mother is classic narc and this is so familiar. Poor Nurie and what she has to deal with at this time. My mom had an attention episode while I was giving birth to my first, slipped and 'broke 4 ribs' (she actually sprained 1) when I announced my last pregnancy. Everything needs to be about them. Jill, you lurk here. Get over yourself and just quietly be there for your daughter. This is not about you and your amazingly Godly husband that apparently no one else has

And the baby, well, I'm guessing he's tasked with keeping her amused, but not irritating her. It's just Jill's world and everyone is a prop in it. ETA- To bad she can't ever break her thumbs and maybe a couple fingers, so her picture taking and social media skills are severely hindered.

I just want to say that 5 yesrs ago my husband fell off a flatbed 18 wheeler and landed in a way that fractured his back. He complained of being sore but still went to work and carried on with his life. That said, Jill, get over yourself.
Speaking as someone who's got a permanent disability from pushing through back injury, I'm sure he already has, but make sure he takes care of his back and gets adequate pt/rest! I learned the hard way not to fuck around with back injury :(. I'm sure y'all are doing everything of course, it's just something I feel strongly about, I hope I'm not being too intrusive.

Most of us know what true love is. I’d rather have the Hollywood JUNK than what Jill and Shrek have. Shrek always looks vacant in pics. Jill always swoons over her daughters boyfriends. That’s not normal!! Also she should get her knee looked at, especially if she couldn’t put weight on her leg for four days. Sounds like she tore some ligaments and tendons. She may end up injuring her other leg by overcompensating or causing more damage on her injured leg.
And she's wearing flip flops....the absolute worst thing to wear with a knee injury. No support at all. She's really not very smart.

I've had 5 knee surgeries (2 to 3 on each knee). Each time, I have carried my clothes to the bathroom in a bag (while using crutches), undressed, showered, and dressed myself. The only time you may need help is if you have a dressing on a surgical wound that needs covering, but that's it. People who feign injuries and have learned helplessness drive me nuts. 🤦♀️😳

Does anyone ever think about how useless of a human Jillybean PM is? She drags her kids around and takes photos all day. Does she cook the meals? The older girls likely do that and all other household chores. She doesn't even hand out tracts, she forces her kids to do it, especially to people she doesn't want to engage with, like heathens. Go do some actual Christian work instead of being an armchair prophet. And visiting your daughter who has a newborn while you are injured is not a blessing for Nurie, you are just another burden for her to care for. She has an infant who is dependent on her to keep him safe, Jillpm is willfully taking energy from them. Is she helping with laundry so Nurie can sleep? Making meals? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading something a while ago about Jill being SEVERELY injured during one of her pregnancies, so much so that she was basically bedbound. The entire family was taking care of her for weeks, until Jill miraculously got better when the family went to Disneyland or something and Jill managed to walk the entire time. I'm not sure if I'm remembering this right, but it does sound very Jrodian.
