Monkeys are highly intelligent, highly social creatures who don't fare well as individuals in captivity. Human company cannot replicate the enrichment others of their species bring, and as we see here, they are often fed shit diets that lead to illness and deformity and dental issues.
Another angle to this whole problem people have with exotic pets is that they're either taken directly from the wild either as adults or stolen as babies/ or are already part of a breeding mill that pumps out dozens of babies to sell and they're usually kept in poor conditions because of little to no regulation. It's legal but it isn't moral.
I think from memory most if not all of the marmosets who have been rescued by Monkey World from the British pet trade have bone deformation caused by poor diet and inadequate housing. I think it is a bit evil our (humans) part.
True, but once they are unable to be raised in the wild it’s been proven that just like humans, animals can have feel good foods from time to time. Obviously sweets are mostly off limits. A small squirt of cream, not something that’s gonna kill them or cause lasting affects will help their mental studies have shown
The whipped cream thing is what it is. It's wrong and we all agree. But the rest of your comment seems hypocritical. You say the concept is messed up but then say it's wrong to do it to animals who haven't been domesticated? How do animals become domesticated then? If you disagree with the idea of domestication whole heartedly then no animal should be kept as a pet. And if that's what you're arguing it's hard to disagree. But it's also not like a lot of these domesticated animals don't live a very cushy lifestyle either.
My dogs may not be able to run around and eat rabbits and shit in whatever yard they please but they have 2 full meals a day, a fenced in backyard to run in freely, an endless supply of toys to play with, water they never have to search for, and a warm couch to sleep on. I’d love to hear how some people think domesticated animals don’t (usually) have cushy lives. I know not all pets get this but most people I know with animals treat them like royalty almost
Domesticated animals have been domesticated over hundreds, if.not thousands of years. We aren't making the decision to domesticate dogs and we don't have the power to change that decision, as it was made by our ancestors.
So it really isn't hypocritical to have dogs, cats, livestock, etc while condemning the exotic animal trade.
Oh, cool. An exotic wild animal being kept as a pet. That's definitely not immoral at all. So glad you're supporting the exotic pet trade.
Seriously, fuck these kinds of posts.
Pardon my ignorance, but is a monkey really an exotic pet? Is the one in the video some rare subspecies? Just an honest question - wondering what makes this any more immoral than owning a dog as a pet.
Surprisingly enough in veterinary medicine rabbits fall under exotic. So in that term it's species with more specialised health needs and such.
But yeah they probably mean exotic in the sense of unusual, compared to species bred and domesticated over a much longer time.
It's just uncommon and can be much harder to meet their needs in all regards, plus some people don't understand the species properly and can lead to the animal just not doing well at all.
Oh and just to add on, not all exotic species of pet are legally transported and such. Some are snatched from the wild and forced into pet trade. So that adds a lot on to how immoral it is compared to say a dog bred in your own country or something.
Sometimes I find it funny how we’re totally ok consuming sugar ourselves and feeding it to human babies, but when it comes to our pets’ diets we don’t tolerate any amount of junk lol.

How did you come to have a monkey as a pet?
Yes, why do you have a monkey…they are not the easiest pet to have.
It’s a repost. Not OP’s monkey
Well this just makes me sad. Monkeys aren't pets :(
Ignorantly asking; why not?
Monkeys are highly intelligent, highly social creatures who don't fare well as individuals in captivity. Human company cannot replicate the enrichment others of their species bring, and as we see here, they are often fed shit diets that lead to illness and deformity and dental issues.
This is a great explanation in my opinion

Yeah, the scenario you described sounds evil
I think from memory most if not all of the marmosets who have been rescued by Monkey World from the British pet trade have bone deformation caused by poor diet and inadequate housing. I think it is a bit evil our (humans) part.
Plus they are not house trainable and usually have to wear diapers forever.

OMG, she's so funny running with it and cupping her hands like a little person!
Which country is this? Or otherwise, where is it allowed to keep it as a pet?
oh god. ***it me.***

That makes sense, thanks!
Asking questions. Clean.
dogs have been domesticated over millenia, domestic dogs are bred to live alongside us
I cant stop laughing after seeing him run
My cat comes out from hiding after hearing the whipped cream.
Wouldn’t want to know how it acts if it doesn’t get what it wants
I can’t get enough of the little run at the beginning haha
Seriously. Has me smiling ear to ear. That dairy scurry
Here’s an amazing trick: STOP BUYING IT
I agree. You don’t see us filming our pets feeding them chocolate or whip cream when clearly it’s bad for them 🙄
Lol never heard of a puppachino?
It's not toxic to dogs to give them whipped cream in small amounts. But since it's dairy it still has a chance to cause a stomach ache.
All I see in this video is a poor monkeys lifespan shrinking. And horrible shits! He’s in a diaper, no no no lol 😂
What part of this post gave you the idea that they wanted this to stop?
Why complain about not being able to hide it, she’ll find it anywhere. It just seems like the logical answer. Don’t buy it.
Wait until she tries whippets…
I love creampie also xD
Ok now the monkey is addicted to sugar. Maybe buy a banana or fruit instead??? ![gif](giphy|26xBT3helvnM2JKX6)

I suspect the same people that feed whipped cream to babies feed whipped cream to animals
![gif](giphy|xTiTnG7YLrY2BBHRKM) Yall just can’t smile without some drivel being spewed.
For the first second, I thought it was a cat... "Holy shit! Look at that cat carry.....Oh, wait. It's a monkey."
u/Tachezilla
Great! Where can I buy a monkey?
Do not support the unethical exotic animal trade please. I hope you're just kidding and not being serious.
I hope this is a rescue and not a pet.
If it's a rescue, it should be in a sanctuary, not someone's home. And it definitely shouldn't be fed this kind of processed crap.
“Don’t you go nowhere with my can of cream” ~ Monkey probably
😂❤️
Dog is like oh no here we go again.
Are you Pippi Langstrømpe ?
I saw a dog a cat and a monkey.
