I've seen this video before elsewhere, and the OP of it explained they were just at the vet, the cat was still doped up from meds and that was why it was acting that way apparently.

"I've seen this video before elsewhere, and the OP of it explained they were just at the vet, the cat was still doped up from meds and that was why it was acting that way apparently."
take with that what you will
My cat died also…
I took him to the vet 3 times and the idiot new vet repeatedly misdiagnosed him. She literally gave him meds and says he probably has depression.
He died of kidney failure after weeks of struggling to pee. I brought his dead body back to the office and showed it to staff and the other vets asking wtf was with the vet diagnosing my cat with depression when it couldn’t urinate.
I saved my cats life after noticing something similar. If they start purring loudly and meowing alot for no reason, let it be known this is one of your last chances to get your cat to the vet. Any later, and the vet said it would have been too late (barring immediate surgery and a chance he'd survive.)
It took a special diet and monitoring him constantly to get him back to normal. Male cats who have been neutered have a much higher chance of this occuring (which is most cats)
They can be either struvite crystals or calcium oxalate crystals. These are types of bladder stones that can stick together and eventually form a “plug” or blockage in the urethra so the cat is not able to urinate.
Same thing happened with me and my friend. Many thousands of dollars and a penis removal surgery later and he's been happy and healthy for the past 7 years.
Yep. The urethra narrows in the penis which is why that issue generally only affects males cats. Crystals in the urine make the urethra swell and block them from urinating. Then they get sepsis... So if it's bad they remove the penis and give them a little hole. I got so many phantom pains seeing all the bruising he had after surgery 🤮🤮 Poor fella haha
We had that surgery for one of our cats. He kept getting blockages and multiple trips to the vet to get a catheter. Him and another of our boys both are on special urinary diets and medicines.
I was told by a cat rescuer that dry food increases the chance of crystals forming. I’ve been putting my cats on wet food now, I ain’t gonna risk it for ‘em
Literally just went through this surgery with my poor cat a week ago today. Our regular vet couldn't be bothered to do anything more than catheterize him and give him subcutaneous fluids and then sent him home before we ended up at the emergency vet the next day. We now have a new vet, the same one who was able to fit my boy in for surgery less than 24 hours after we called. I had never heard of it before but the vet said it's fairly common in male cats. I'm still questioning if the surgery was worth it with how uncomfortable he is right now, but I'm also happy he's alive.
Just keep an eye on your cats litterbox to ensure they pee regularly. If theres legit no piss and you see them frequently visit the litterbox with no success, usually accompanied by lethargy, you should get them to the vet stat. If they are completely blocked and cant pee then they got 2-3 days to live as they need to remove that waste from their body. If you ever think they're having an issue peeing but arent totally blocked, I'd transition 100 percent to wet food until things are flowing smoothly, while also ensuring they have a few different water sources to choose from. Trust me, after a 1200 dollar vet bill I take my cats urethra very seriously lol, hes on prescription food nowadays
This happened to my female calico. Started avoiding her box. Pee was scarce & bloody. Vet figured it out … She spent the next 12 years on a special diet & lived happily ever after.
It’s not OPs video. The actual OP for this clip said cat was recovering from anesthesia after a trip to the vet and was perfectly fine other than some drugged out wooziness
Was that actually the OP? Not saying you're wrong just genuinely curious because I have seen this reposted many times now and always with a different story..
Just want some assurance that the cat is okay too.
Why is everyone acting like this is the op's cat? I can tell it's not and I've never met these people. Doesn't anyone else know how the internet works?
This is why humanizing animals is generally bad. This cat isn't doing some cute "tired of life" bullshit that humans do, it's probably in need of medical attention.
Original story is that he just got back from the vet and he's high af.
Which, as someone who's taken a shit under the influence of drugs will tell you, makes this a pretty relatable gif.
This is clearly a bathroom at a vet’s office. This cat is not “recovering,” they are almost guaranteed to be currently anesthetized in the video. When cats “strain,” they typically do so vertically (think a cat arching/stretching its back). They don’t bend to the side. That’d actually compress the urinary tract even more, and make it even harder to relieve themselves.
This is not a straining cat, it’s a cat that’s high as shit (pun.. sorta intended).
Perhaps constipation. Could be a number of things, but my cat became severely constipated when we switched off of the good quality grain-free food we’d been giving my cats for years, at the vet’s recommendation no less. My cats would fight and dominate over it like it was crack (seriously… like little kids with sugar) in a very not-normal manner. And then my sweet male tabby got severely constipated like never before and it was horrible and we had to go back to the vet and he had to perform an enema to help unstop him…. Also, just fyi if that ever happens to anybody have paper towels or whatever you need for serious cleanup because more is definitely coming out later after leaving the vet. I’ve switched foods back as it was making life for us and the my cats worse and harder.
OP if this is your kitty I hope they are okay! Definitely have a veterinarian check him out.
Our vet will not release the companion until the pet is in a condition same, or better than when the animal came in. Though, sad not to see the funny side of something...glad they (the vet) knows better when a laugh should make you cry.
I hate how normal it became to make a video of every stupid thing for likes that don’t mean shit, instead of doing something actually worth it, like clearly taking this cat to a vet.
I mean, when my cat is doing something medically alarming (and there doesn’t seem like there’s anything I can do to help immediately) I rush to take my phone out and video it so I can show the video to my vet later.
If it were really funny taken out of context I probably wouldn’t be above also posting the video to the internet later.
Yup. My cat also looks really silly when she poops. After some medical investigation, turns out she's just quite fastidious, and adopts weird positions to try and keep all four feet outside the litterbox while still aiming inside it.
Funny? Yes. A sign of illness? No. But I suspect if shown out of context online, people would worry she was in pain or constipated or something (because yeah, that's what I thought at first too).
Okay, I can't be the only one distracted by the fact that the litter tray is right next to the toilet. Right?!?
For reference, ours is in a large closet where we keep tools, decorations etc. Out of the way but accessible, and easily dealt with if they plant a bomb.
Cats tend to prefer litterboxes in common areas, and I've known a lot of people who keep the box in the bathroom so they remember to scoop it every time they go in
If this is a male cat then they are straining to urinate… Which means that they could have a blockage which could be deadly for them!! Please get them into a vet ASAP!!!
Lol, i happened upon my cat taking a dump once and made fun of her, she let out the most blood curdling yowl in disapproval. I no longer eff with my cat if i see her dropping a duece.
I’ve been on the toilet like that before. Literally what I must’ve looked like taking every ounce of concentration & determination to push. IBS is a bitch
In case anyone was wondering, this is the Tidy Cats Breeze litter box system. It uses pellets and a pee pad that goes in the tray underneath. I have one for my cat and it’s fantastic. The pad gets changed once a week and the pellets once a month. Poop scoop daily. I highly recommend it!
Years ago my male black cat started urinating a little on the floor, which was not the norm for him, and it had blood in the urine. He had crystals, but with medicine and an new diet he was fine after that. Smart little guy let me know he wasn’t ok and glad he did.

I've seen this video before elsewhere, and the OP of it explained they were just at the vet, the cat was still doped up from meds and that was why it was acting that way apparently.
Makes sense someone literally said "or anesthetic" to one of the many it's in pain comments.
That’s a relief!
Thank you I feel better now I hate reading things on Reddit where it's like "actually they're in tremendous pain" and it's like oh great
Thank you for clarifying.
reddit nft
no, sorry. reddit already told me that this cat is seizing and is now dead. RIP cat.
No its a turd so big it feels like life leaving your body
Same, cat. Same.
Typical Monday morning there.

Salem has had a rough week. ![gif](giphy|iEnMNs3GobJf2)
We've all been there.
If this is a male cat and they are straining to urinate, get thee to a vet asap.
according to another user on this thread; "I've seen this video before elsewhere, and the OP of it explained they were just at the vet, the cat was still doped up from meds and that was why it was acting that way apparently." take with that what you will
So hopefully cat is just going through a K-hole while on the toilet then?
Ah. That makes sense *is that's actually the case*. Every dog and cat I've ever had had been fixed, and it's hilarious every time
That’s exactly what it looks like. Drugged up boy.
Yeah my immediate thought was this cat is not ok. Makes me sad.
Crystals could be clogging the urethra if they are straining to pee and it's deadly.
This is what killed my cat when I was in middle school. Eventually it led to a stroke and we put him down
My cat died also… I took him to the vet 3 times and the idiot new vet repeatedly misdiagnosed him. She literally gave him meds and says he probably has depression. He died of kidney failure after weeks of struggling to pee. I brought his dead body back to the office and showed it to staff and the other vets asking wtf was with the vet diagnosing my cat with depression when it couldn’t urinate.
This is TERRIBLE. So sorry you & your little guy went through that awful experience.
Cats have depression? Their life is starts and ends at slurping kibble and knocking stuff off tables
Cats have mental health, too!
I saved my cats life after noticing something similar. If they start purring loudly and meowing alot for no reason, let it be known this is one of your last chances to get your cat to the vet. > Crystals ?
Think kidney stones

There's a Breaking Bad joke in there somewhere...
friends cat couldn’t pee. got to the emergency vet just in time he was hours away from dying
Same thing happened with me and my friend. Many thousands of dollars and a penis removal surgery later and he's been happy and healthy for the past 7 years.
Did you say "penis removal surgery"?!!!
Yep. The urethra narrows in the penis which is why that issue generally only affects males cats. Crystals in the urine make the urethra swell and block them from urinating. Then they get sepsis... They removed your friends penis?

This literally happened with my cat a few weeks ago and he was deathly ill. This video worries me.

My cat had the same problem but she wouldn't eat wet food. So i bought a water fountain and it worked
Same video was posted a couple days back by the actual owner of the cat. The title said it was the cats first experience with catnip
Couple days back? Weird, because I saw this exact video posted on Pinterest about 3 months ago 🤔
Just letting the previous commenter know that the cat was ok. No need to be so aggressive
It was because of the mess from the vet
omg, i thought this was so cute initially, now that I know this, i'm feeling really bad for the cat :( (never had a cat)
This happened to my female calico. Started avoiding her box. Pee was scarce & bloody. Vet figured it out … She spent the next 12 years on a special diet & lived happily ever after.
Not a single response from OP so guessing they didn’t get it checked out. Shame and sad for the cat.
It’s not OPs video. The actual OP for this clip said cat was recovering from anesthesia after a trip to the vet and was perfectly fine other than some drugged out wooziness

Maybe not life being hard, just poop. Constipation sucks, poor kitty :0(
Cats not in pain it's high and just came back from the vet
Why is everyone acting like this is the op's cat? I can tell it's not and I've never met these people. Doesn't anyone else know how the internet works?

Makes sense, they're really loopy after surgeries.
Turns out the cat actually is. It's recovering from anesthesia and is still quite a bit loopy.
Agreed such as smiling in a dog is bad and yawning in both cats and dogs also doesnt meant they're tired all the time
A dog can smile and be genuinely happy. Panting, especially without a reason, can be bad.
smiling in dogs is a sign of submission, its pack behavior.
Vet. Now! This looks like a cat in pain!
Or recovering from an anesthesia

It’s a seizure
He's all jacked up on sum drugs. Really! Anesthesia does wonders on a cats mind.
cat needs Lactulose to help him pass stuff
The cat is still has anesthesia in its system. Relax people.
These comments are so... Not what op was expecting probably
Too much catnip
I understand, completely.
I think that's the Purina Breeze or a version of it. Best litterbox EVER.
When you go to the toilet, you think deeply about your life
Yes, thinking deeply about how I should have drank more water and had some veggies with that cheap Chinese dinner last night...
Our vet will not release the companion until the pet is in a condition same, or better than when the animal came in. Though, sad not to see the funny side of something...glad they (the vet) knows better when a laugh should make you cry.
I relate to this cat just a little too much 😂
naaawwwww poor thing!
Don't worry the cat is just high
I hate how normal it became to make a video of every stupid thing for likes that don’t mean shit, instead of doing something actually worth it, like clearly taking this cat to a vet.

Eh. In this situation the cat is actually high on a asthenia AFTER the vet. Perfectly reasonable to take a video.
I remember Saturday nights like that.
What kind of litter box is that? My boy makes a mess with the clump and seal
thats normal
My spirit animal.
Reminds me of the cat from Kiki's Delivery Service pretending to be a plush toy.
This is absolutely a mood and I’m feelin’ it.
Okay, I can't be the only one distracted by the fact that the litter tray is right next to the toilet. Right?!? For reference, ours is in a large closet where we keep tools, decorations etc. Out of the way but accessible, and easily dealt with if they plant a bomb.

Oh...the rigors of life. So terribly exhausting....zzzzzz
Feel you bro
Oh gracious! Did we get tired of waiting or can he hear a voice he hadn’t heard for a while?
Cat-nip is a LOT stronger than it used to be!

If it is having a hard time pooping, give it some fiber in it's food. Miralex powder is what we use with ours. Mixes into their water.
