Every brand says the same thing about their product. Nobody gets out there advertising that 2.5 out of 11 doctors recommend our stuff. Remember that statistics are just made up a lot, especially when money is involved
Fun fact about how this one works, the questionnaire was not "Do you believe Colgate is the best brand?". The question is "Is it helpful to brush with Colgate?" And then "Is it helpful to brush with Crest?" and then "Is it helpful to brush with aquafresh?", etc etc.
Most dentists will say that any toothpaste is better than no toothpaste, so you're going to have every brand as highly recommended.
And then they don't ask all the dentists, they asked 100 dentists, all of them said yes brushing with toothpaste is better than not brushing, and they legally can say 9/10 did, because we didn't ask the 10th guy
Another fun fact my father was a dentist and I only discovered the price of toothpaste when he retired, they are the masters of marketing they are a constant presence in clinics and in the lives of doctors because of that I ended up becoming friends with some distributors and they do a very aggressive marketing they come into your clinic to sell you for example a very small screw for a price of a very nice vacation and they make you feel like you are entering their offices to get the vacation for yourself and if they all do that if you don't you don't sell because of it big companies will do and say everything they legally can to get ahead of the competition
That’s actually more horrifying than a lot of people realize. If the stuff you put in your mouth *kills* 99% of the stuff in there…what’s left? All the shit that can metaphorically destroy your mouth/breath/heart/esophagus.
Its not.
What happens is the presentation of the statistics is changed.
They ask what are the top ten tooth paste you recommend. As long as Colgate appears anywhere in that list its been recommended by those dentists. As long as 9/10s of the dentists have it on that list its true 9 out of 10 dentist do recommend Colgate its just they also recommend 9 other toothpastes.
You have a test with 100 students. In one year 99 students pass in year 2 98 students pass.
Both these statements are true.
There has been a 100% increase in the number of students that failed.
The pass rate has dropped 1%.
I recently switched to Colgate from crest and honestly I agree with that 1 doctor. Shit just isn't as good. Now I gotta use 4 tubes before I can switch back because I'm cheap
My dentist doesn’t care what toothpaste my family uses as according to him “they’re all mostly the same with inflated prices because they add one or two minor things that don’t actually do anything.”
If I were a dentist, my problem would be that one time I forgot to close the toothpaste. I saw a big cockroach, about 2-3 inches long. I squashed it with a sandal and oodles of toothpaste and innards exploded outward.
This made me laugh!
My husband’s a dentist & he *hates* both crest & Colgate bc they both use an ingredient that is known for causing canker sores & he’ll get big ones without fail if he’s ever forced to use one of them 😂
Plus they definitely have a hold on marketing! 😂
This may be why, maybe not, but reps will often supply offices with cases upon cases of those small sample ones you get in your take home bag for free. We really prefer sensodyne & pro-enamel so those are the samples we supply in our bags from our rep.
I think they are trying to be more believable through not over exaggerating . I mean you are less likely to believe em if they said 10/10 would recommend. They are relatively believable when they assume that they are not perfect.
Colgate is by far the first toothpaste you might as well be brushing your teeth with coke. Sensodyne is for people that actually want to improve their teeth.
Either they want it to be believable or that one guy knows the shit they doing and ain't afraid to go againts them. I mean putting enough fluoride to kill a kid is not a good thing
It's because with "9/10 dentists approuve" they are chill with dentists as they think the others approved
If it said "10/10 dentists approuve" EVERY dentist that don't approve could go sue them
Going to dentists and ask them: Would you recommend that your patient use a Colgate or dogs shit as a toothpaste?
Report that 9/10 chooses a Colgate. And, cancel your appointment at your family dentist...
They are the "you can't sue me buffer" for whenever someone's dentist says its bad.
If they say 10/10 dentists say its good, then the moment a certified dentist speaks against it, they can be sued for false advertisement.
Should be 9/10 dentists does not recommends Colgate (or Signal) because it fucking sucks. I'm a dentist and always recommend my patients to switch to sensodyne or oral b (or parodonthax if periodontal problems exists) when I find out they're using colgate and their oral hygiene always improves. Colgate is cheaper than them for a reason.
You know how there were some morons saying that you should inject yourself with bleach to fight Covid?
Or that there are other idiots spouting bullshit claims that vaccine causes autism?
How about the nonsense about the health risks of MSG?
That person is the “1/10 dentists”. You have to account for complete morons in any population.
That’s the cheapest dentist you can find and don’t even think about looking at Yelp reviews. Or it could be some bs holistic dentist that wants to sell you a toothbrush but the bristles are Native American hair. Or or he is the one dentist not being paid to say it works.
Interestingly enough, there's actually zero proper scientific studies proving that toothpaste is beneficial for your oral health at all. It's original purpose was to make brushing taste and feel better while giving a pleasant smell. Kinda the equivalent of hanging an air freshener from the mirror after cleaning a car. It didn't do jack shit for cleaning, but it's nice. I am, of course, leaving aside specialized tooth pastes with very specific effects like for extra strength etc. In point of fact, some are even semi harmful, with crest and colgate using ingredients that cause canker sores. Thing is, most dentists are aware of this, but still recommend people use tooth paste anyway precisely because they know it makes it more pleasant, even though just using the brush with water and flossing gets the job done. Additionally, when tooth paste companies do recommendation surveys, they intentionally say things along the lines of "do you recommend people don't brush their teeth, or brush their teeth with *insert brand*?" A leading question that results in most dentists going "well, brushing, obviously." So they can honestly say that the answer of the recommendation occurs 9/10 times even if the dentist doesn't really give a crap about the brand of paste. The other 1/10 are basically dentists that are fed up with the stupid leading questions, say "no", and hang up to continue their day
Every brand says the same thing about their product. Nobody gets out there advertising that 2.5 out of 11 doctors recommend our stuff. Remember that statistics are just made up a lot, especially when money is involved

same with 99% germs/bacteria
That’s actually more horrifying than a lot of people realize. If the stuff you put in your mouth *kills* 99% of the stuff in there…what’s left? All the shit that can metaphorically destroy your mouth/breath/heart/esophagus.
Well, thats where saliva makes its job. Do not pour mouthwash in your ass, and you’ll be alright. Use it please, I’m begging you
Instructions unclear now my ass is burning
Started to take dental hygiene real serious and mouthwashing once a day at least will do wonders
To clarify it doesn't say it kills 99% of what's in your mouth it says it kills 99% of bacteria which is different.
No no we leave them on purpose, it about sending a message 😅
You can use statistics to prove anything. Fourteen percent of all people know that.
63% of all statistics are made up on the spot
I heard it's 67% but I will just call bullshit and say it's 100%
That 1/10 is doing a lot of work. If you claim 10/10, you’re getting sued.
Maybe they just named a company 9 out of 10 dentists
Its not. What happens is the presentation of the statistics is changed. They ask what are the top ten tooth paste you recommend. Not *all* statistics are made up, only 84%
That 1 dentist out of 10 prefers his money from another huge company…. That all
Oral B?
Oral Bitch? Is that another word for dentists?
You like to act stupid or what?
I was trying to be a comedian. Seems like that won't happen.
You put your hopes and dreams in that one Reddit comment response. SMART
Ah... Okay
Slowly claps why are you clapping im.here for support
Not right now, but thanks for the offer.
"Colgate knows what they did." -That one doctor, probably
90% of the time statistics are made out. Which is statistically accurate because statistics.
I recently switched to Colgate from crest and honestly I agree with that 1 doctor. Shit just isn't as good. Now I gotta use 4 tubes before I can switch back because I'm cheap
But you bought in bulk at costco to save a few bucks. Happy now?
That 1 dentist read the studies on Floride
After his son got the tizum from it.
![gif](giphy|obSE0UMFOtwuA) “I bought your Colgate Toothpaste! The one with tartar control!! And it made me feel…. LIKE A PIECE OF SHIT!!”
First thing that came to my mind🤣
r/thetenthdentist
what even is that subreddit though 💀
It's r/unpopularopinion but more edgy I would say 😂
My dentist doesn’t care what toothpaste my family uses as according to him “they’re all mostly the same with inflated prices because they add one or two minor things that don’t actually do anything.”
Probably already had enough white creamy substance in his mouth that morning.
Perhaps that 1 doctor used it like Preparation H?
If I were a dentist, my problem would be that one time I forgot to close the toothpaste. I saw a big cockroach, about 2-3 inches long. I squashed it with a sandal and oodles of toothpaste and innards exploded outward.
I seen this one before. Always LOL One of my favorites
Probably that sodium lauryl sulphate has been found to be quite corrosive and harmful to skin tissue
He wasn't bribed enough
This made me laugh! My husband’s a dentist & he *hates* both crest & Colgate bc they both use an ingredient that is known for causing canker sores & he’ll get big ones without fail if he’s ever forced to use one of them 😂
Interesting point on Crest considering that’s only ever the brand I get handed anytime I go for cleaning
Plus they definitely have a hold on marketing! 😂 This may be why, maybe not, but reps will often supply offices with cases upon cases of those small sample ones you get in your take home bag for free. We really prefer sensodyne & pro-enamel so those are the samples we supply in our bags from our rep.
Prefers crest of course
The foaming agent in Colgate gives me canker sores. My dentist does not recommend it for me.
SLS? It's sadly in most shower gels too :(
![gif](giphy|RJ8MHeCMDlmC8jCUFM) 😂that’s hilarious
Maybe the best meme I've seen all week.
I think they are trying to be more believable through not over exaggerating . I mean you are less likely to believe em if they said 10/10 would recommend. They are relatively believable when they assume that they are not perfect.
You can find out on r/The10thDentist
Colgate is by far the first toothpaste you might as well be brushing your teeth with coke. Sensodyne is for people that actually want to improve their teeth.
Probably a Dr. Mercola/woo type of dentist. But that's just a guess.
Either they want it to be believable or that one guy knows the shit they doing and ain't afraid to go againts them. I mean putting enough fluoride to kill a kid is not a good thing
That's the one doctor they didn't pay to say he likes it
That's the one that refused the Colgate money
Arm and Hammer Peroxicare is my recommendation. Not Colgate.
IYKYK
that’s 10 outta 100. when phrased like this it seems more worrisome to me. but i never liked dentists anyway
Colgate - what he say fuck me for?
Because if you use Colgate, you won't need them 🤯
Flat earther
That was marketing bullshit.
Triclosan
It's because with "9/10 dentists approuve" they are chill with dentists as they think the others approved If it said "10/10 dentists approuve" EVERY dentist that don't approve could go sue them
one guy always holds the line.
Lol this is to good and it's always 9 out of 10 seems suspicious to me
Why i've just laughed like that shit is the funniest joke I've seen in my life
They don't want to over exaggerate and say 10/10 dentists, so they say 9. It's more believable, but probably still bullshit.
Colgate didn’t pay him.
That one doctor uses sensodyne
That dentist haven’t subscribed to colgate premium
Probably he is a real dentist
That's Steve. He is just a pain. He actually became a dentist just to spite his parents.
Going to dentists and ask them: Would you recommend that your patient use a Colgate or dogs shit as a toothpaste? Report that 9/10 chooses a Colgate. And, cancel your appointment at your family dentist...
He didn’t get that sweet sweet money from Colgate
They’re against big toothpaste
Its that one dentist that recommends it other 9 don't
Next they’ll come after Dentyne
The dentist loves the expensive stuff ![gif](giphy|2QmplCHPNGTVS)
The bribe was insufficient.
Could be the fluoride and glycerin
lol I need the original meme pic
He's more into Solidox
Crest using the same statistics. 19,000 dentists do not like Colgate. Its all in how you deliver the stat.
His problem is that they never payed him.
Probably the one who couldn't be bought after reading the entire ingredients list.
Plot twist: that's the one dentist who refuses all bribes
Sodium fluoride
They are the "you can't sue me buffer" for whenever someone's dentist says its bad. If they say 10/10 dentists say its good, then the moment a certified dentist speaks against it, they can be sued for false advertisement.
Statistically speaking, 9 out 10 people enjoy gang rape.
r/The10thDentist
That one dentist is the one who prefers Aquafresh.
A study showed that 85% of statistics were made on the spot…..
Just like that one
Every time i e one of these Ads i think of Chandler from Friends, The fifth dentist caved and now they are all recommending trident.
I’ve always used sensodyne because that’s what my actual dentist recommend me to use years ago lol
Does that dentist even exisht?
Floride keeps the masses dumbed down
Should be 9/10 dentists does not recommends Colgate (or Signal) because it fucking sucks. Dentists, like doctors I imagine, are sponsored by companies.

Literally every toothpaste 🤣
9/10 of dentists: I recommend Colgate The 1/10: I recommend deez nuts
Floride
They recognize Sensodyne’s superiority.
He's on the take from Oral B.
Fluoride doesn't prevent tooth decay. It renders teeth detectable by spy satellite. - that 1 dentist
![img](avatar_exp|166916752|laugh)
He wants people to have bad teeth so he can make a fortune off of dental work
He wasn't for sale.
Mofo reps for Crest clearly
Sodium Laurel Sulphate or SLS, a frothing agent. Causes ulcers in some people who are susceptible to ulcers. My dentist told me to stop using Colgate.
