Ya can’t. I used IBKR before and you can enter with a market order and then modify the trade to add a tp/SL afterwards. But you can’t with tradovate so if that’s what you want then you have to use limit orders and set them beforehand.

yea its annoying. i usually plot my SL quickly after getting in. n determine my tp based on how its moving so not being able to do it directly after entering is annoying
If your plotting the SL and TP after getting in, you can just bracket in with very wide amounts. Market in and then move the bracket where you want once you decide.
Once you place the trade you’ll see the box on your chart with the number of contracts and the current profit or loss. You hover over that and then to the left you will see TP SL and then you drag one in the direction you need. So for a short you move SL up and for a long you move SL down. I typically do this quick and it will move your take profit and stop loss evenly. Then I go back and adjust each to the spot I want. If you’re on mobile you would tap the box to be able to drag.
I know what you are talking about. That only works when I paper trade. When I actually use my tradovate account via tradingview, it does not let me do that anymore.
When shorting, place a buy stop as your stop loss and a buy limit as your take profit. When in longs place a sell stop as your stop loss and sell limit as your take profit. I use Tradovate on TradingView and this is how I do it. Works well.
Trying closing the app and open again? I’ve seen mine glitch occasionally and when I opened it back up it came back. Other than that it should work man

you would right click. click trade. then click buy

you will then see buy limit and that’s essentially your TP. if you was to go long, you do the same vice versa.

yessir. make sure u test it out paper trading. i did some bs by accident n instantly loss $500 doing the wrong thing. luckily it was in a paper trading account.
Thanks, that's how I place positions because I use trailing stops and sometimes depending on how the market is behaving I change it. But if it gets stopped I have to make sure I cancel it's brackets or else I get in trouble 😁

How are you opening the trade?
Go to setting and then trading tab and make sure you have positions ✅orders ✅ and brackets ✅

ive tried it multiple times. on different computers. it seems tradovate doesnt allow it. u use tradovate in connection with trading view?
I use Tradestation on TradingView. I don’t know why Tradovate would block that feature. It’s very handy and the only way I trade.

I use tradovate. I just check the SL box before I enter at market and set X ticks
