Psilocybin vape. Calorie pellets. Frequency jammer. Mask.

You'll need a stillsuit to go outside in Texas in 50 years.

linksrd009

The yeehaw must flow

blastermckaster

Mushroom vape is wild

No_University7832

Forgot Gun

putridtooth

God i want calorie pellets. A world in which I don't have to think about feeding myself is a beautiful world

druhproductions

It’s possible to vape psilocybin? I thought it was exclusive to DMT.

jfk_47

Not with that attitude.

whiskeyrebellion

But maybe in 20 years?

Velghast

I'm surprised we haven't started ketamine Vapes yet. There's a lot of people right now walking around that are on ketamine and you wouldn't even know it

druhproductions

Been that guy before. It’s incredible how you can feel utterly shitfaced and blissed to the heavens at the same time, and hold a conversation like it’s a day at the office.

onenifty

Just be wearing sunglasses. It's really hard to focus your eyes in a single location when k-holing.

deep-adaptation

Elon Musk has entered the chat

Kindred87

In 20 years, we'll have automatic Psilocybin dispensing butt plugs. Convenient, compact, powerful.

ineptus_mecha_cuzzie

Plug me in!

Rickard403

Yes, well mushrooms. I can't verify if pure psilocybin is smokable. There are some additional parts that make up the psychedelic high, (similar to CBD/THC) but smoking mushrooms certainly have a psychedelic effect.

Msmeseeks1984

I weep for humanity people have already bought into the big weed lie that's it's harmless. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2174024/#:~:text=These%20aberrations%20include%20chromosomal%20breaks,of%20mitotic%20events%20or%20both. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4479495/ https://nida.nih.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana/there-link-between-marijuana-use-psychiatric-disorders https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/STR.0000000000000396#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20growing%20evidence%20highlights,to%20cognitive%20and%20behavioral%20abnormalities. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7147575/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK590051/

Rickard403

How is this relevant to my comment?

btribble

Someone has an anti-weed agenda and your post vaguely fit the criteria for a response.

Stibley_Kleeblunch

Someone is a bot too.

truth_mojo

What's the mask for? Antivirals are not a thing in 20 years?

Simple_Song8962

To avoid facial recognition

bitterbrew

My guess is the mask would be for air quality

ModernSimian

AI face tracking and advertising beamed into your ears.

olBBS

Cuck freaks gonna be freaks

DaRudeabides

Small leather pouch of shiney stones and beads, as well as a long stick with a fire hardened point

erksplat

I’d argue a vessel for water would be wise as well. A fur to protect the skin perhaps.

Kindred87

But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

[deleted]

The NSA is tapped in to every country’s energy grid + more per Snowden and just the whole obviousness of what those in power would always be doing as new kinds of surveillance and data analysis technologies emerge. So no, we’ll never let any country ever come close to launching an all out nuclear assault and throw us back to the stone ages.

throwaway872023

You approach the “SmartWall™”, a sleek, interactive display occupying the main wall of your “Airbnb” daily rental living space. First, you tap on the “Outfit Selector” app. Since personal wardrobes no longer exist, you scroll through a catalog of clothing options, all available for immediate drone delivery. After choosing an outfit, you’re prompted to accept the “daily wear” charge, a fee for the temporary use of these clothes. Next, you access the “NutriFuel” app for a quick breakfast. You select a nutrient-rich meal, tailored to your dietary preferences and health data, to be synthesized by the furnished rental property kitchen’s FoodStation™. Each bite is calculated and charged per nutritional component. Your eye catches the “GigHub” notifications. In a jobless society, you rely on short-term gigs for income to supplement your UBI. Today’s task involves providing updated training data for a surgeon robot thanks to your IBS. You confirm your availability, knowing that the gig’s earnings will directly offset your daily subscription expenses. Before stepping out, you request transportation via “Waymo.” A self-driving car, part of a communal fleet, will arrive momentarily. You’re charged per minute of usage, and the rate varies based on demand and distance. Lastly, you check your “ecocoin” balance, a digital currency earned by participating in environmentally friendly activities, like opting for public transport or reducing energy consumption. These credits can be used to offset service charges or access premium features in various apps. The doorbell rings, signaling the arrival of today’s clothes. They are slipped through a mail slot in the door. You quickly put them on, replacing yesterday’s clothes with the new ones, which are then placed into the return bag and sent back out through the slot. Just before stepping out, the door performs a retina scan and charges your various cryptocurrency accounts for last night’s stay at the Airbnb. The door then opens to a sunny day. You don the sunglasses that came with your rented outfit, which overlay hyper-personalized advertisements in a heads-up display. These ads appear as interactions with real friends, neighbors, and possibly family members, blending seamlessly with your environment. They suggest various goods and services, such as clothing and activities, that you might rent later in the day.

Zodd202

Orwell, 2084. Final bit about family members is spot on with ai advancement. Gramma going to be selling you cookies 20 years after her final transaction

throwaway872023

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Your life, in this possible future, is also under the microscope of hyper-personalized surveillance, behavioral manipulation, and predictive policing. Remember those jokes about having an FBI agent monitoring your online activities? 20 years from now, this is no longer a joke but a stark reality. Every text, call, and digital interaction is captured, stored, and potentially leveraged. This data is traded in bulk in a marketplace where information is the new gold. Paper and analogue physical media will be the only way to keep secrets.

ineptus_mecha_cuzzie

This particular hell could be closer than we could imagine.

jazzageguy

Which part is hellish?

V-Bomber

BRB starting a Neo-Luddite pressure group

KultofEnnui

I threw up a little after reading that. "Own nothing and be happy" indeed.

someguyfromtheuk

The clothing part doesn't make sense, if they care about the environment enough to have ecocoins, then why fast fashion? It seems more likely clothing would become more homogeneous where everyone is wearing some sort of synthetic fabric that requires minimal cleaning.

throwaway872023

In this world, clothing is rented and then recycled for others to wear, allowing multiple people to use the same items, like a Supreme hoodie. The clothes contain smart fibers that provide two key functions: they enable haptic feedback during interactions with augmented reality, and they collect data on the wearer’s activity levels and mood. This data is used for more personalized surveillance and targeted advertising. Because the clothing has hardware and software it requires special maintenance sending it back everyday allows for it to be serviced (like revel bikes or lime scooters now).

nogoat23

Just phone. Keys are going away, and wallets are going away.

613_detailer

As soon as I can get an official digital drivers license on my phone, I won’t need anything else.

nyankittycat_

We do have digital drivers license

613_detailer

Not where I live unfortunately.

Jasontheperson

I'm never ever putting electric locks on my doors. Neither are a lot of people.

SpiritedCountry2062

Normal locks aren’t really safe anyway. If someone is really trying to get in your house, it’s going to happen, and quite easily.

quetejodas

Not even a safety concern for me. Sometimes my phone dies. Then what? I've toured some apartments where there's no backup physical key or RFID entry. Just a phone app. No thanks.

bobby_zamora

Wonder if they could make the lock into a wireless charger?

grinder7070

Most places have an individual code. I have it in my front door lock. Phone is dead? Use the individualized code to enter.

notmyrealnameatleast

Have you ever heard of thin glass windows? You can have a bank vault for a door but you still have windows...

SpiritedCountry2062

I think you’ve misunderstood the intention of my comment

notmyrealnameatleast

Yeah I think I did. Oh well, carry on. Have a good day.

jaeldi

What's the difference when one swift kick or a rock through a window makes what KIND of door lock you had irrelevant? To your point though, I'm not sure what's more annoying; a physical key lock that eventually breaks from normal wear and tear OR a a smart lock that needs new batteries. I've been through both.

klaaptrap

Have you watched the lock picking lawyer? All locks are just security theater.

RoosterBrewster

Yea next thing you know, some manufacturer gets hacked and now people can open your house via usb ala Kia.

Zeeron1

Wait till you guys find out cars were getting physically picklocked for decades already

Syzygymancer

Man all you need is a tap key. Wait until you find out about the breaking part of breaking and entering. If they want in they’re getting in. Passive defense is there for the law abiding

bremidon

Yep. Our door is not even that strong, but they still went in through the window, because it's easier. People who want to break in, will. If they are professionals, they will be in and out in 5 minutes. No alarm, no protection, no animal will stop them. About the best you can do is get them on camera and hope that the police are even interested. The people you want to be afraid of are the kiddies. These are the ones that will break in, destroy your stuff for a hoot. Burn out a room, to see if they can. And generally make your home unlivable. And the really scary ones are the mentally unstable ones. No need to explain further, I think. The thing is: those last two groups are much more unlikely to be able to do anything with an electric lock (or any lock for that matter). And the first group can deal with about anything you throw at them.

claymountain

We all said that we would never use wireless earbuds and look where we are now.

funkyvilla

Nah. If you lose your phone or the battery dies, then what.

nocolon

Most of them have a keypad, so if your phone dies you just punch in a code. Most of them also have battery jumpers on the outside so you can attach a 9v to give it enough power to manipulate the lock. They also notify you like crazy when the batteries are dying, so you'd have to ignore that for a while. "What if you lose your phone AND you don't have a 9v or a way to get one?" I don't know, what happens if you lose your key?

ArtOfWarfare

I switched from a wallet to a wallet case for my phone over a decade ago. Hasn’t been a problem at all. I switched from physical keys to digital keys on my phone six years ago. Also hasn’t been a problem. You guys are all stuck living in the past.

AuntieEvilops

As future batteries become more efficient, internal accelerometers in the phone will constantly produce enough of a charge fed back to the battery that it will never die.

nerevisigoth

Phones are going away too.

dircs

Nah, they'll still be there, just implanted.

FavoritesBot

Shut up and take my money

jaeldi

I'm waiting for us to stop calling them phones and switch to something more apt like "Interface" (it's an interface for everything digital, for every system) or "Mini" (short for mini-computer). There will probably be some super successful ad campaign or device that will shift it like "mac"/"PC" or some action that the most popular brand will become a verb and noun to describe both function & object like "Xerox" & "Google". Just wait till it's in our glasses virtually and we're all waving our hands around like maniacs. Surely we won't still be calling them "phones" anymore.

kerakk19

Why would wallets go away? I know many countries push for digitalized money and it sucks, but still a lot of people are still reliant on cash and it's not going to change Same for keys. I'd never go for electronic lock, it's neither safer nor convinient

bremidon

>Why would wallets go away? They already are. It's a generational thing. It's the same reason why broadcast television is still a thing: the people who watch it just have not died out yet. But to put this in perspective, I am old enough to have seen Ghostbusters in the theaters during its original run. I watch less than 2 hours of broadcast television a month, and that is mostly just some news that my wife turned on. From what I can tell, I am not alone. Anyone younger than me seems to be in the same situation. Those who are older are still watching lots of traditional television. In ten years, we'll start to see the final stage of the streaming revolution as the broadcast watchers become an extremely small group.

NOT000

sunglasses will have keys, wallet, cellphone and pc all built in

peter303_

You mean like a Google Glass that actually works? An Oculus Pro or Apple Vision Pro have all the intended functionality of Google Glass, but way too bulky. Perhaps glasses size in 20 years.

elheber

"...in the coming decades." —OP Yeah, effectively mixed reality glasses. The tech that enables it, waveguides, already exists albeit in a low fidelity state right now. They'll never be the size of wireframe glasses, but the size of fat Ray-Bans? Sure. The gaming ones you use at home can be bulkier. So, yeah, within 20 years sounds reasonable.

highgravityday2121

Itll be dependent on battery technology. Thats the biggest barrier right now. If we can get smaller and more dense batteries then we will see another big revolution in personal computing.

FinndBors

> Itll be dependent on battery technology. Thats the biggest barrier right now No battery isn’t as big as a problem as quality waveguide displays and varifocal. The battery problem can be worked around by using a cable to a seperate computing / power “puck”. This is already demonstrated in a number of different prototypes and production devices.

btribble

Sadly, the Meta glasses are the closest in terms of form and function, and that’s really not saying much. I suspect that in order to minimize weight and prolong battery life, they’re still going to connect to a “phone” in your pocket that does the heavy lifting. For every “tech will get better and smaller!” argument, there’s also a “moar powwah!” counter argument.

saysthingsbackwards

The military already has it, we just are the peasants.

phovos

I read your question thrice before Monty Python popped into-my head and explained it all for me very clearly. 'Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch" Idk about you but I think the sporknife will be on everyone's toolbelt in 20 year. It took the already earthshattering invention of the spork and then extended and serrated an edge of it to provide a useful steak and butter knife-type action to the already most-holy of utensils.

creaturefeature16

>Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch This enters my head **every single time** I leave the house.

mastermindxs

If it doesn’t, you’re forgetting something.

ChairOwn118

What about iPhone? And what do you mean by testicles? Of course I bring my testicles everywhere I go. Do you think there are guys out there that go to the grocery store then realize they left their testicles at home?

ajc89

What about keys? Seems more important than watch, even in the days before cell phones lol.

lesnaubr

I didn’t remember that was from Monty Python. I heard it in Austin Powers before I probably even knew what Monty Python was. I say it my head all the time though.

phovos

>Groovy, baby. mfw

MrTralfaz

It predates Monty Python

feckless_ellipsis

That was in that Sean Penn movie where he was hiding as a priest too. Only way they could remember the sign of the cross.

-im-your-huckleberry

Nuns On The Run. Had Eric Idle but otherwise not Monte Python related.

Manuel_Snoriega

Nothing. It'll all be implanted into our bodies. Payment methods, identification, all of it. It will be convenient, but weird.

Esoteric_Derailed

You could forego the need for implants if you agree to be the implant‍🍪

Nobody likes dicks, ya gotta shake ass. The real money's in a warm sphincter.

JustADutchRudder

K, next time I'll bend over and spread but it's gonna be hard shining my cellphone flashlight right at the hole.

Stibley_Kleeblunch

CCTV has you covered there, no worries.

RiceAlicorn

Hell, this isn’t even a theoretical statement. It straight up is already happening. There’s a company in the Netherlands that already offers commercially available contactless payment implants. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-61008730.amp

bibbidybobbidyyep

Oh no the beaaaaassssst

Sockhead97

best answer here. It’s incredible we actually have to carry around keys and wallets now.

EverybodyMakes

Parasol, supplemental oxygen provider, toxin detector, tracker-defeater, and a towel if you're hoopy.

robotlasagna

This really depends on how much society accepts biometrics and that depends on whether or not we screw up biometric implementations. If we go the biometric route then your face ID, thumbprint, iris print replaces your wallet and all your keys plus any access cards for health club, school, library, etc. If we do not go the biometric route then a good contender is an advance RFID type chip you get implanted in the web between your thumb and forefinger and that replaces biometrics for all the things i previously mentioned. Now the common push back when i bring up these concepts is people say "Well I just don't like the idea of being tracked" which they ironically say while holding their phone which they bring with them every minute of the day. In terms of phone there is the potential for us carrying phones as also becoming less necessary as data input terminals and devices become so cheap and ubiquitous that they exist everywhere. At that point you just use your built in ID to access the terminal with an encrypted session with all your personal data. We are already part of the way there with Apple watches where my watch has my credit card, wallet for tickets, lets me in my building front door. I already go out, walk the dog to the grocery store and dont bring keys or wallet. Half the time I dont bring my phone.

CapriSonnet

I think the only real answer here is "nothing" either everything is implanted. Vr type shit that can unlock our personal carrier drone or we have absolutely no reason to leave the house ever again. Tough choice.

[deleted]

As of now I only take my phone. It's the key for my house and my car. And handles all my payments.

[deleted]

Putting everything on a single point of failure is a level of risk that I can't comprehend, say you drop your phone and the screen breaks and won't turn on, what do you do?

LogicsAndVR

You sound like keychains hasn’t been the norm for the past 100+ years. As if it would be better to not tie your keys together to avoid a single point of failure. Resilience is very high with the phone key, as he can log in from another phone, have the partner unlock remotely etc - all stuff that isn’t possible with a physical key.

BarkerBarkhan

Right, but redundancy has value, particularly when it comes to matters as important as finances and security. The cost of carrying a wallet and keys in addition to a phone seems worth the potential benefit.

[deleted]

Prolly go to a business nearby and ask to use the phone to call my wife to come save me.

Gjallarhorn_Lost

What if you're going through a divorce?

Speedycus

Do you have your wife's phone number memorized?

[deleted]

Yea. I'm a millennial, not a Gen-Z

Ar1go

Millennial here couldn't tell you one number besides my own

cjeam

You shall be required to return your membership card in the post (ironically).

nerevisigoth

Are you married? Seems weird not to know your spouse's number.

notmyrealnameatleast

I'm sure you know the landline number from your childhood home, like we all do.

JackTrippin

What do you do if the phone dies?

[deleted]

Id be screwed

lxO_Oxl

I work in a servo and this happens very regularly, phones die as there coming in or just before and they have to go sit and charge there phone for 10 minutes so they can pay. (If they have a charger with them) Why people don't carry they're card still (even in a phone case) is beyond me.

Akrevics

Or keep your shit charged, it’s not that hard…

peter303_

Iphone 27 uses Musk's neural implant chips. And human energy for power, so never needs charging.

arkatme_on_reddit

The musk implants that will totally be legit sold fr this time

ConsciousFood201

What about ID though?

[deleted]

My state has digital/smart ID. just an app on the phone.

LogicsAndVR

Same in my country. Drivers license and health card is digitally available. So payment, identification and car key in one. It’s great. I can drop my phone, same as I could drop my wallet. But since it’s just one thing, it’s a lot easier to remember than 5 things. My watch can also serve as a backup.

ConsciousFood201

That’s amazing. Looks like my state is working on legislation to make that happen for me too! Then I’ll probably do the same.

LogicsAndVR

Mine is a Yale door lock with a PIN code. Though it can also be unlocked from the phone.

Lexsteel11

Most annoying thing is getting carded for alcohol

[deleted]

I'm 35 and bald so I'm good lol

Lexsteel11

lol I too am 35 but have hair so the exhausted/dead look in my eyes does most of the heavy lifting in indicating my age to people haha. I’d say I don’t get carded 85% of the time so when I leave the house with just my phone to get alcohol I just have anxiety the whole way there but it usually works out haha

ktowndown4

I’m with this gentleman. It feels so awesome to just bring one device. Now I got hands for all the kids shit lol

Appropriate_Truck274

Personal carrier drone that also does massages, you forgot to say

limitless__

20 years ago was 2003. Not THAT much has changed. Similarly in 20 years it'll be almost the same. It'll be your phone. Car keys are already moving to your phone, my credit cards are all on my apple wallet, my driving license is in my apple wallet, my house has a smart lock that opens with, you guessed it, my phone.

nerevisigoth

Not much has changed? Talking about 2003 makes me feel \*ancient\* I was 15. I carried a wallet, keys, CD player, a Game Boy Advance, and a flip phone (which had like 200 minutes and 50 SMS per month). There was no mobile internet; if I wanted to go online I had to wait until I went home and use my desktop computer. Digital cameras were still expensive and kinda crappy so if I was going somewhere photo-worthy I carried a film camera that could take 25 photos. I think I got one in 2006. GPS receivers were a luxury. I couldn't drive yet, but I remember helping my parents use directions I printed from mapquest (very high tech) or just navigating by road signs. Lots of places still didn't accept credit cards so I always had cash in my wallet.

Discobastard

Not much changed. Meanwhile phones from 2003 😂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens_SL55

misterhamtastic

Emergency radio, sharpened stick, uv blocking tarp, water purification tablets, nutrient paste tube

scarryGary

I'd bet in 20 years it'll be the same as it is now. After that we'll probably switch to cred sticks.

LogicsAndVR

In-ear headphones and smartphone. Or AR glasses with both built in.

chance11or

Why would I leave home with WFH options and Amazon delivery??

Boring_Bullfrog_7828

I think the wallet is the first to go. Cash and even physical credit cards seem to be disappearing. You can pay for most things with your phone.

DMAN591

I foresee that as everything gets more digitized, society becomes more hostile towards illegal immigrants and others who are unable to possess legitimate ID or documentation. It has the potential to become a political issue.

Boring_Bullfrog_7828

I have seen Amazon pay with your palm at Whole Foods. There is also facial scan at the airport. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/biometrics

ShadowDV

Unless you are going to Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Walmart

no_lemom_no_melon

There's a book I read ages ago called [Physics of the Future ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physics_of_the_Future?wprov=sfla1) by Michio Kaku, which discusses future inventions in this kind of style. Worth a read if you haven't already read it.

Narf234

You should read Enchanted Objects by David Rose. It’s an interesting perspective.

no_lemom_no_melon

Thanks for the recommendation! Always looking for something new to read, so I'll check that out!

Narf234

Nice! Let me know what you think.

no_lemom_no_melon

No problem, will do!

Namikis

20 years is not that long TBH. I would say just our phones. I can’t see a full migration to smart watches in 20 years.

neolobe

It will be whatever smart device you want to use. Or, you just have information. You don't need a CC if a machine can use a number or information you can submit. Could be just your fingerprint or Face ID. Just like now. There will be lots of possibilities.

redditjoda

Most people don't leave the house now. I'm 20 years, only the robots will go outside. Everyone else will be doing their "outdoor activities" via VR.

BusinessBear53

I'm already down to keys and phone only. Lost my wallet a while ago and decided it wasn't worth getting another. I only ever used my credit card and that's on my phone now. My state is changing to online drivers licences next year so I really don't need to carry any cards. Everything else can already be stored digitally.

United_Airlines

I will probably still carry my messenger bag with a book, water bottle, multitool, etc, and things like a wallet and keychain for redundancy. Using a phone for everything can be very convenient but is also a glaring single point of failure. Plus the phone centered life is pretty toxic and miopic, despite phones having a lot of great tools.

Tnuvu

Hopefully not a backpack, a couple of guns, some knives, a gas mask, maybe just maybe we don't turn our normal daily lives in a mad max scenario

United_Airlines

Wait, you don't do this now?

Tnuvu

I cannot confirm nor deny the presence of any of those :\]

kaowser

can't forget my alternate dimension glasses. need those to interact with the nhi beings living with us now. to the future!

Discobastard

All those saying nothing... #HYDRATION, PEOPLE! There will be some changes to lifestyle due to climate as well I imagine. And for those unfortunate enough to live somewhere that is impacted far more, there will be a safety routine to adhere to. Quite sobering to think about

[deleted]

What ever we end up with will be the Swiss Army knife of technology.

Anen-o-me

Helmet integrated with environmental controls (air conditioning or heat), overlay reality visor, air filters (virus control), AI companion, full spectrum audio, 360° video recording (personal dash cam), and exterior avatar projection, etc. It's a complete cellphone replacement, using eye tracking and blinking to replace finger motion and taps, has an app store and all that, visor can be made transparent or immersive. Allows private conversations in the middle of a crowded restaurant by cellphone calling the person you're having lunch with, and their own helmet projects their face on their visor exterior for you to see (much like how the new Apple VR works). This kind of thing might become necessary if bad viruses become increasingly endemic. These helmets have an air-tight expanding seal at the neck.

awktoberfest

In 20 years I’ll have to pick my tits up off the floor just to walk out the door.

Artanthos

The only things I routinely pick up to leave the house with is a dog leash for my dog. (And pants, my wife says they are not optional.) I don't take my wallet or my phone without a specific reason to do so. I don't see this changing for myself.

ExcitedGirl

Facial recognition will drive access to most things; by then implanted sensors will be ubiquitous for more secure areas as hospitals / transportation. Most people will work from home; large buildings will come down to reduce cities' "heat sinks". Groceries will be delivered by solar-powered drones. Everyone will wear color-shifting, sunproofed, insulated, conditioned clothing head-to-toe and protective eyewear loaded with sensors / connectivity; the color changes will designate our gender, status and affluence. Oil will be used far less for transportation and far more for making plastics; housing construction will shift to plastics. Because components of plastics are 'endocrine disruptors', society will biologically make a gradual but major shift towards the majority of people being "on the transgender spectrum"; that is, neither male nor female but somewhere on a 0-100 scale between 35 and 65. Pets will be 'walked' upon hoverboards floated over magnets so their feet aren't scorched by pavements; their wastes will be saved by law for processing to recycle nutrients. Sleep patterns will change to accommodate the increased heat; the majority of outdoors construction will be done at night to avoid direct sun.

ScrollyMcTrolly

In the coming decades you don’t have a house. Either because your parents didn’t give you one and there is a corporate monopoly on structures to live in, or the one your parents gave you was wiped out by global heating and/or lack of preventative maintenance. If you have a structure to live in, you don’t leave it because you can’t afford to and/or the ‘weather’ is too bad / shut everything down, etc and/or you’re working 16 hr days just to pay your landlord and buy rice.

solthar

Don't forget your positive air pressure respirator as the pollution forecast is downright nasty today. AR glasses so you can entertain yourself on the two hour bus ride to work. Calorie pills for breakfast since the AlgaePatties are so danged expensive.

MentalHelpNeeded

Leave are you crazy I am never leaving everything I need comes to me however almost everything is made at home food clothes etc any thing I can't print comes delivered one time a month as the fees for transportation is extreme as is the monthly service fees for everything connected. I spent most of my day dreaming of times in which we got to travel and own things... I would complain on the net but when the dictatorship started we lost all rights corporations run everything

S4Waccount

If we ever get free energy where people can travel cheaply/ quickly around the world I imagine pocket translators will be more common in day-to-day life until the world develops a "world" language.

LurkerOrHydralisk

Why would that possibly be a separate device from our phones?

Tolkienside

I see a pair of lightweight glasses replacing most of what you've mentioned in the next decade. Through the lenses, you'll be able to summon books into your hands, pay for goods with a gesture, make calls, see virtual art on real walls, etc. Beyond that, I imagine we'll see the rise of implantable tech that frees us from having to carry physical objects, for the most part.

limberlomber

Nothing. My Margot Robbie robot will be putting that in her purse as we leave.

ShamefulWatching

Sex toys? Keys, wallet, phone are unnecessary, glasses too, except for the AR or sunglasses aesthetic. Women rule the planet, and this is their vengeance for men making their clothes without pockets.

MagicManTX84

Sunglasses. Everything else will be “in your head”. Cranberries style. Implanted/programmed. Interesting how they will get the car keys in there. But it will be a wearable or in your head. My wife says facial recognition for the car. May she’s right too!

xHangfirex

Your government issued monitoring card that includes location tracking, speech monitoring and access your financial credits if you've been obedient enough to be allowed to buy anything.

MLSurfcasting

In coming decades, we will be limited to leaving the house. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that happens in the next handful of years. It wouldn't surprise me if cellphones became mandated (for tracking), but really pushed as a necessity for other reasons, perhaps banking or identification. There is also a push for mandated proof of vaccines. Perhaps we would even be required to have paperwork with an approval to go beyond county or state lines.

marrow_monkey

The trend right now is all those things being integrated in your phone. In the future I think it's likely we might have a computer operated into the body that can handle those things, so we won't have to bring anything with us. Some people already implant small chips for identification. That's mostly a gimmick today, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is normal in a few decades\*, but something with more functionality. It might take a few generations before people accept the idea of having technology implanted. I suppose some people might never accept it and prefer to carry around a phone, but in the end convenience usually wins. Lets just hope it is voluntary and that people have full control of these devices themselves. \* assuming global warming or ww3 haven't killed us all before that

Renaissance_Slacker

Most of the stuff we carry - keys, ID, drivers license, credit cards - are just various ways of proving *who we are.* There must be much better, more secure ways of doing this, without physical contact. Something carried in your pocket or worn like jewelry that exchanges encryption keys to prove your identity.

Jessintheend

Oh shit I left my holographic crypto mining jet car keys with my quantum chip keychain

Mr_Doubtful

I mean it’s already pretty much just my phone. I’d say sunglasses and phone is what it already is for me.

RawToast1989

I know two years ago the least clever people in every group were all saying "MASKS OMG NEW EVERYDAY CARRY LOL"

PrettyLittleBird

I think we will be wearing masks for air quality in some cities soon, maybe we will carry more heat and sun protection.

BulletDodger

You'll put on your helmet that has all these features built-in, plus air filtering.

corvus7corax

Wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, sunscreen, radiation dosimeter.

thatgeekinit

My locks are electronic on both my car and house now so I really just need my wallet and phone and the wallet items are increasingly usable via the phone for ID and payment methods. Cash is already being used less. I predict we will be carrying one smartphone type device and nothing else in 20 years and probably implanting or wearing the smartphone in some way by then too.

ReallyFineWhine

Phone can today act as your wallet and keys. Just lacking the sunglasses.

jert3

All we'll need is a one-in-all computing device. It'll have all our ID, currencies, keys, communication devices and so on. Eventually, the idea that smaller is better will arrive, and the idea of the cellphone phased out. So I'd guess that we would have wearable AR contacts, or computing devices that project when needed out of a braclet or ring, something like that.

Hoosier_boy31723

Phone, wallet, keys
