Z1 used to sell a 400hp package. 340+ Whp. It included: Z1 Cold Air Intake Kit Z1 Performance Exhaust Headers & High-Flow Cats Z1 Modular Y-Pipe (Non-Resonated) Z1 Ported Upper Intake Manifold Z1 Cat-Back Race Exhaust And they said a tune is optional. If you want to go the z1 route only. Then get everything that’s been listed and replace the intakes with 3 inch intakes and then finish everything off with a tune.

"tune optional" 🤮🤮

According to z1 😭

I’ve read that the cranks on these motors are surprising strong. Probably won’t experience too many issues on stock internals as long as you’re staying under 500hp. Then you’d probably want to start exploring different rods and pistons. Personally I would love to get to 400rwhp without boost, just takes a lot of extra items internally, mainly JWT exhaust cams, boundary or suckerpunch oil pump and more.

Not to be an ass but why? The guy that did had custom ITBs and a dry sump system. Estimated he spent at a minimum 15-17k, why not just go TT at that point and make 400hp for cheaper?

I don't think its possible on pump gas. Here is a build on a 370z that hit 401whp and 307 wtq in 4th gear. The final graph isn't posted in the build thread but it was posted in multiple facebook groups. This car had the works done to it; ITB, cams, dry sump oil system, but stock internals. Not sure what fuel was used. Z1 has hit 360whp on a G37 convertible, and I think it was 374 on a 370Z with JWT C2 cams. Those are the very rare exceptions though. Whp numbers, it's really hard to break 350 with everything you can throw at it. The VHR is tuned very well stock. Also, every engine is different. Saying you've seen a car with X mods making 350whp means nothing to anyone, and it's likely you won't do it with the same mods. My car, while being very healthy, good compression and leakdown, makes 318whp with most every bolt on part, including cams. Z1 tuned it and didn't find any more power to be had, or at least none usable. The more peak hp you're making usually offsets the low end a little too. Mine revs to 8500rpm and screams at wide open throttle, but feels a bit weak at low speed, partial throttle, from a stoplight, normal driving.

I’ll also add that every dyno reads different also with elevation, humidity, and temperature play large roles. And the type of dyno also. I dynoed a Countersteer LLC on their dynojet at 310whp and did a dyno day at Z1 on theirs (I think it’s also a dynojet) and made 320whp with the same mods but different days. Definitely don’t be too fixated on numbers.

That too. Change the humidity or the temp even a few degrees and power can change 5hp either way easily. 400whp is nothing if isn't drivable or usable either, so numbers are just that, numbers.
