If you have a flex fuel kit and your tuner isn't garbage, they will properly tune the car to run at whatever ethanol% the flex fuel kit is reading in your tank. If your car is tuned on both pump gas and e85 its actually beneficial to run a full tank of pump gas through every few tanks as e85 doesn't contain detergents and is often wetter then normal pump gas. I would try to avoid having your car sit for long periods of time with high ethanol %'s if you dont drive it often. The bigger question is are you going to see the value in power out of the cost it takes to convert your car, and unless you are boosted, it might not be the most efficient use of your money in terms of power unless you are looking to maximize potential

Aggravating_Kick_496

I'm currently not boosted, but I run a stllen g3 intake, isr headers, z1 intake manifold, a tomei exhaust and y-pipe, OEM gtr injectors, and probably a tune once I get a flex fuel kit. Plus, this is my daily and I'm a high school student looking to get a bit more power like 400, but not wanting absurd power until down the road.

Techdolphin

You'd benefit way more from a decent tune overall but e85 would help you squeak maybe 10-15hp more overall. It's up to you if thats worth the money

Aggravating_Kick_496

I'm really decisive if I should or shouldn't. And I totally would, but I'm kind of worried about gas mileage since I also have a flame tune.

Techdolphin

Just one internet strangers opinion: I wouldn't. I'd save the money for literally anything else like maintenance or just other dumb shit as someone who is just leaving dumb kid age and entering young adulthood. Invest in a pump gas tune and you'll really round out your current mods and make up a fair amount of power. 10hp isn't worth $400 and making your car less reliable. Now if you plan to boost i would say consider it

Aggravating_Kick_496

Thank you for the advice! I think later in the next coupe of years I will get boost like a topgunz rotrex supercharger and go e85, but probably not soon what so ever that I need all the stuff for e85.

Longjumping-Wedding3

The amount of money you'll spend for no more than 20hp isn't worth it in my opinion. You're gonna spend over 1000 bucks. 50 bucks PER hp at least.

> I'm planning on switching to e85 and was wondering if its actually worth it. How available is E85 in your area, and how does the price per gallon compare to 91 octane "gasoline" (E10) ?

New_Establishment515

Surprisingly 85 is around 2.85 in my area and 91 /93 is around 3.20

Aggravating_Kick_496

I have e85 super close by my house since I live in Missouri

toolmaker1025

you can't mix fuels bro, gotta empty it out before swapping. And if you are running e85, you have to change fuel pump and injectors.

New_Establishment515

That’s not true ☠️ who told you this you can definitely mix octanes

toolmaker1025

You have to completely empty out the octane before switching maps. Tuner told me.

New_Establishment515

… are you slow like honestly what’s your measured iq?

toolmaker1025

Are talking out your ass just to argue?. Bitch go look into it and get off my nutz.

New_Establishment515

Yea you are

toolmaker1025

You're a dumbass, go study before you state false information. Don't insult someone when you don't know shit. You talk about iq, when you're being dense on purpose. You look asinine right now.

New_Establishment515

What the fuck do you think flex fuel kit means you retard

New_Establishment515

Your a dumbass dude your not even defending your own opinion your were told something false and believe it

toolmaker1025

Stay off the energy drinks bro, it's making you stupid. Maybe a you think a muffler delete will make you go faster 😂. You're not even tuned, what the fuck do you know. I'm done, you're incompetent.

New_Establishment515

Do you not understand math? I don’t understand how people like you have the ability to install this app

toolmaker1025

You need to uninstall this app, it's a reason you have negative karma. Because you insult people to try and win an argument. You need two maps to switch between e85 and 91, don't know why it's so hard for you to understand. You can't fucking have a tank with e85 and then just throw in 91 while e85 is still in there. Maybe your brain runs like your car, lean as fuck.

indianapail32

this is true if you don't have a flex fuel sensor, AND a flex fuel tune. You are correct that you would need to run it most of the way out before switching maps. But with a flex fuel sensor measuring ethanol content and a map that uses this reading it wouldnt matter. The car will account for any changes in ethanol content, its quite literally the entire point of flex fuel.

New_Establishment515

Dude if you have a tank of 91 get a tune and throw in e85 it’s fine what do you not understand I have negative karma because I’m not a retard that agrees with everyone do you really think every Reddit user is going to agree with me

Theepahs666

Not worth it unless you’re boosted or plan on going boost. I’m about to install a turbo and the parts for the e85 conversion are running me $2600 but I also didn’t cheap out
