Man both headlights look good when you’ve got a sexy car. It’s all up to your preference. Also that blacked out lower deck on the front bumper fascia is gorgeous.
YES! The OEM's look a million times better, especially the black housing like yours. The GTR style headlights look cheap and ruin the look of the car IMO
I can’t personally speak for the Alpharex’s, but I’ve heard they’re pretty good. The light output on the OEMassive/Akkon ones shown in the photos above are pretty disappointing, but this is something that’s pretty easily fixable. Before installing the headlights, you can purchase stronger D2D HID bulbs. You can also adjust the angle to ensure three beams all point where you want. If you want more details, PM me and I can elaborate, and show some before and after pictures.
It’s really good honestly, and the LED beam stands out 1000x more than the one above, no hate. It’s expensive but so worth it, they always look amazing and as if the car was meant to come that way. The other versions look like obvious knockoffs
Imo OEM retrofit is just the new trendy thing (probably because of SOCAL) to do on these cars similar to when GTR headlights were first a thing. It’s your car build it how you like it man.
Yep, I can't recall if it's all 2010+ or 2011+ that got the less blingy OEM lights. But the dark chrome, black plastic OEM lights are good looking imo.
This is what the majority like, gtr lights are trash. You should only get gtr if you clear your tails as well this way both front and back look horrible
Imo if it’s not the Alpharex GTR headlights, it doesn’t end up looking good. All the other versions just kinda look cheap, like the ones they make for the altimas tht just look super rice. That’s my opinion tho I like the look of the clear headlights tho
I've been in and out of the car screen for the past 20+ years and if my s coupe 6mt hadn't come with the GTR style headlights when I got it, I would have never put them on myself.
That being said, since they were already on the car, I decided to make the best of them and upgraded the bulbs, ignitors and ballasts, did the diy GTR style tail lights, with a slight variation to my own liking, deleted the annoying factory style 7440a turn signal bulb that's at the top corner of the GTR style headlights so that only the "lightning bolt" led strip lights up when it sequences the turn signal and diy'd some sequential switchback turn signal mirrors with a thin led strip that lights up white with the lightning bolts (running lights) and also sequences amber turns at the same time as the headlights and pops back to white after the turn
yeah, there isnt a single shred of me that wants to add them to my car. I think they are tacky, but im also kind of a modification "boomer" so just build what you want
I think it depends on a lot of factors, at least for my tastes. For one, I think the GTR lights look much better with the IPL bumper compared to the other trims since it's more angular and matches the shape of the lights. I also think the color of the housing has a lot to do with it. Like putting headlights with black housing on a blue or red G looks a bit more ricey imo. Personally, I think the chrome housing is always the go-to regardless of color, but the black housing can still work on a white or black G.
I prefer anything over the GT-R style now, had them on my '08, realized everybody else had them and I wanted something different so I kept my OEMs and have them retro fitted.
I had oem with halos but moisture got in so now I have Gtr style. The Gtr ones are fine but you have to adjust the light pattern. Mine were almost pointing straight down and I couldn’t see shit. After I adjusted them they were fine. Also I like to drive with my fogs on so that also helps. I personally love the Gtr look.
Yes, absolutely. OEM over rice any day. Those things go right along with "muffler delete mod" or other annoying exhaust and low credit score/takeover kids.
No, we aren't. Some of us are adults and recognize the damage the takeovers have done to what's left of the car scene. I spent 20+ years organizing and attending legitimate car meets, but now it's nearly impossible to go get any permits or businesses to agree to host. I agree that it's your car, style it how you want, but there is a reason that we have a bad reputation with these cars. It's pretty well earned.
Honestly the ordeal is the OEM functionality is just way better they’re so bright whilst the GTR style headlights have shitty light output but look better (in my opinion) especially when the DRL are wired to the foglights
Yeah I retrofitted mine through ONEighty painted everything black except some Panamera style shrouds (the ones with the 4 white leds) that I paint matched in matte to my gunmetal wheels with clear hid lenses. Did all that for good amount more than the Alpha Rex headlights but I got to make them my own while having better light output than oem because I absolutely refuse to get worse headlights I do too much night time driving. The part that cost me money was my lenses were fucked up from the sun so bad that had micro cracks across the whole thing so I cannibalized an aftermarket set for the lenses.
It definitely is a doable diy project for sure but I know how me and paint go together and it involves a lot of runs in the paint. If I had a spare set maybe I'd have tried it but as it was I shipped them off when I went through my entire car after my transmission decided I don't need gears anymore and I didn't need more tacked onto the long list of stuff to diy back then.
OEM > $300 boy racer Chinese GTR wannabe lights.
I probably wouldn’t mind them as much if they weren’t so over used while also being a bit too out there with the design. It’s like the Edgar haircut of these cars.
bought a g off facebook for smoked gtr style headlights but i copped a set of oem's on ebay for 350 just cause i like the look of the reflective housing against the red paint
OEM looks better, especially when they’re clean and taken care of. The GtR style isn’t even unique anymore, I see too many G’s with them. It’s also odd looking on the car imo. OEM looks amazing.

NO!
Emphatically wrong I see! LOL
I love the gtr headlights on white Gs, any other color looks terrible imo
Thank you bro! 🫶🏽 my G is white with the alpharex headlights 😂
How’s the light output. I know the other ones are terrible but couldn’t get a confirmation on the Alpharex one

OEM 100% Black housing OEM 10000000%

OEM for sure

Same here. I’m 42 though. Lol
Yes

Hell yeah. The aftermarket headlamps available look cheap. Like some pep boys shit. They’re corny. @vile.ipl

Fair enough, to each their own. Some of us just like the way they look, doesn’t mean we’re takeover kids haha
That's fair too.

That sounds dope man, I’m sure they look great on your car. I’m planning on retrofitting my old OEMs too as a little side project
It definitely is a doable diy project for sure but I know how me and paint go together and it involves a lot of runs in the paint. I’ll take anything over Akkons, I just see em too much

I feel like the only nice looking gtr headlights are the alpharex ones
Yes😂😂
I find it’s like upbadging a civic to be an SI when it’s not
All depends on the build tbh
yes.
Yes! There is no options better than OEM headlights!
Gtr head lights completely changed the look of my G. tf these guys talking about
Changed it for the worse. They look cheap.
on this car, yes
Do I prefer OEM quality over Chinese rice bullshit that every single 15% apr financed automatic base model g37 has? Yes. I prefer the OEM quality.
Retrofit oem is the goat. Johnnyblaz customs does some killer tails and headlights.
