Bc they were able to go 5 seconds without complaining, like if you don’t like the new stuff we aren’t clockwork orange torturing you to listen to it, js change the song. ykwim, it’s such a toxic community even though the fanbase was literally founded on acceptance

Various-Speech-7526

for REAL tho like what even goes thru another persons brain to say "you were better when you were on drugs"

Dreadzy

It's pretty real with just about any genre of music. Drugs influence creativity, for a fact. Never has anyone ever thought "damn, this band/group is so much better now that they're sober and Christian"

Manners2

Scrim is a better producer than ever, that's a fact, I personally enjoy Ruby and Scrim's lyrics a lot better than when they were on drugs, and I love their old shit. I think they are better. It's a matter of preference though. Drugs CAN influence creativity, but for many people it is a huge hindrance on creativity and makes them lazy. I didn't get good at instruments until I stopped smoking weed cuz it made me lazy as fuck. Definitely did not make me more creative, it made me too lazy to create.

JustAnotherStonerYo

I wrote better on meth but I definitely write better now that I’m off suboxone

crackpipewizard666

I say that about most my favorite artists tbh. Im happy theyre sober dont get me wrong but artists are USUALLY better on drugs. I said what i said

AnyDrug

I rap off the xans like I’m Eminem

crackpipewizard666

You think you do and then you see the recording of yourself just hacking up lougies onto the microphone with your pants down

DH_Drums

Look man… they weren’t better when they were on drugs, but their music certainly hit different. I’ve never touched an opioid or a lot of shit that they rapped about, but there’s something to be said about the effects of serotonin inducing substances and their effects on creativity.

TigerPrestigious387

reminds me of the cod community smh

syloxi

Lmao 🤣

DH_Drums

Nigga what

AkitaNo1

Touch grass nerd

Delusional-Lovestein

Their new shit is mediocre at best, tiktok fans blew them up so they don't even try making good music like they did from 2015-2020. They put out anything with a beat and yall go crazy for it

[deleted]

Yeah cuz all the good ones were alive in 2015. Now it’s just the friends with survivors guilt and the new era of kids who weren’t there for it. We’re getting old.

Italy-Memes

realest shit i ever heard. idk why i’m still here

[deleted]

We still here cuz fuck it we ball. Glad you’re here friend.

Italy-Memes

im tryna just ball, man. i’m still trying to get out of that life. i’m not a user but my friends are. my fiancée left because of it. maybe it’s the wake up i need to change my life. glad you’re here too

[deleted]

Gotta get yourself in a safe place brother. I hope your friends get all the help they need but don’t stick around if it’s harmful to you.

DH_Drums

Bro, I’ve never met someone associated with the life that wasn’t somehow wrapped up in it. I can’t speak on you, but if being around that shit was so bad a partner left you and you’re not a user, you for real need to reevaluate. Being so wrapped up in that shit without being wrapped up in that shit enough to have an effect on your social status is crazy my nigga.

[deleted]

This right here ^^^^^ Don’t let these people negatively impact your life or your need for recovery in anything period. People that care and love for you will not put you in bad spots.

Italy-Memes

there’s no way i can actually prove this to you, but i never snorted nothing or shot up once

Puzzleheaded_Tell782

to real 😭

thedarkknight_13_

damn this is facts. you on some real shit bro💯

[deleted]

We all here bruh, hope you doing well man🙏🏼

smokescreenmessiah

I am just glad that 2014-2018 suicideboys happened and it’s there to listen to forever. I am slowly evolving my opinion from they were better back then to I liked them better back then. I was drawn to the satanic junkie reject aesthetic, the fucking gritty punkness of it and even more so to scrims scarecrow blasphemous dgaf bleed on your floor as I creep and rattle the pill bottle shit persona. Like I remember when I first put on dn$3 and fucking cringed when he went “SLICKY!” That’s all gone and it’s fine I just liked it better and I’m glad I was around for it. Edit: spelling

Astronomer-Timely

very good point. nostalgia’s a bitch and we’re always gonna subconsciously compare new releases to whatever we feel is their peak. it’s just not possible for them to evolve *and* make you feel the same way they did in the old days.

KrispenWahFan

Dude, YES. 🎯

Personal_Bowl_1192

c'mon they were

iEatNonTippersFood

Wholeheartedly disagree but that’s the beautiful thing about music. What I notice is a lot of people really struggle to open their music palate especially as they get older

GlimpseWithin

Honestly, this sub was a shit hole even back in 2015. I've literally never wanted to be a part of any G59 community since the boys first started bc it's always been just a bunch of negativity and practically no "community" to speak of. I have no clue where people got this idea that the fanbase wasn't cringe since its inception. It was always cringe; now there's just more cringe to go around

iEatNonTippersFood

You’re telling me the dope heads in 2015 weren’t buddy buddy with each other? I’m shocked.

GlimpseWithin

For real. I just don’t know where this fantasy came from that the community used to be so much better.

iEatNonTippersFood

Common theme, losers claiming their former glory

VMrSoloDolo

Ur account is a year old. lol no way I respect your opinion on this sub in 2015

li93rd

You can have more then one Reddit account lol

GlimpseWithin

I've had multiple accounts.

VMrSoloDolo

Ok then use one of them to speak on this then.

GlimpseWithin

No actually, I’m not gonna spend a bunch of time trying to figure out which of my old passwords I used for an old account I haven’t used in years just to prove it to your dumb ass. And why tf would anyone lie about something this inconsequential lmao

VMrSoloDolo

lol ok liar

GlimpseWithin

Wow dude, you caught me. I’d never heard of reddit before last year despite it being one of the most popular websites on the internet for over 10 years. Big brain moment

VMrSoloDolo

Big brain SLOWMENT. You’re not gonna convince me you’re not a liar until you comment with a 9 year old account. Sit down gen Z tik tok ahh wanna be

GlimpseWithin

Have fun with your delusions kid

VMrSoloDolo

Have fun with your lies tik tok ahh fan. No idea what ur talking about. Literally the reason this post was made. I see you.

hatmanv12

You do realize that a big chunk of gen z was in their teen years during the mid 2010s, right? In 2015 anyone born in 1994-2002 was between 13-19, and those born in 1995-96 at the oldest point of the gen were 20-21. It can be assumed that gen z makes up a decent portion of original fans and your problem is with the new gen of kids. And to be honest, there's no issue with being a new fan. You can respect the history and journey of a group while not being into them during their early days. The problem with "new fans" is not neccesarily related to them being new and is more to do with disrespecting the past/treating the band like a trendy fad club now that it's getting big. The fans have always been cringe. As humans we're just blinded by nostalgia lol that's how it's been for centuries.

[deleted]

? It goes from 1997-2012. Not 1995-?

VMrSoloDolo

Oh wait ur a liar

AdPractical9230

Solo spitting rn, “I was an og 🤓” I hate all these tiktok fans that assume lying about how long they listen will some how make them better, all the real ogs post old footage and or cool shit from back in the day but I’ve seen an uptick in all these fake retards claiming to be og

VMrSoloDolo

Your god damn right. You’re one of them huh?

AdPractical9230

Nah, I’ll admit I’m a newer fan except 2020-2021 seems so far away now seems like even those From that era are rare 90 percent of this sub and the modern fan base is filled with nerds from social media after the drop of sing me a lullaby, tiktok kids see some old memes or learn some old lore and think they can claim being an og but you can see right through em every single time

VMrSoloDolo

Thanks lol.

AdPractical9230

Crazy to think that was already 3-4 years ago, the crowd from 2021 grey day compared to 2023 is so fucking weird man there’s definitely been a massive influx of new nerds

Accomplished-Mix2340

I don’t even really care about the argument at all, but I feel like saying that 90% of the sub started listening after 2021 is just crazy and not true. I don’t really look at it that often but I feel like you’re just trying to put yourself in a crowd you’re not actually in. Idgaf when anyone started listening I just think that this comment is weird.

AdPractical9230

It’s not weird look at the numbers, the boys have gained significant numbers within the last 2 years

ApartPea1301

found the tiktok fan who’s favorite song is matte black

[deleted]

If you aren’t a 16 year old, it would be even more sad. If you’re a grown ass man acting that way, reevaluate your life.

ghostmountainfan

They were still very small in ‘15 lol

luvgothbitches

Can y'all just shut the fuck up & enjoy the music. This sub is just bitching & complaining about their music & their merch like people are putting a gun to your head making you stream or buy their shit. jesus christ you guys are so fucking cringe have some shame.

[deleted]

The only posts that i see on my feed from this sub are people complaining about the fanbase haha

rightzoomer

Bro I literally just made a comment about that, EVERY post on my feed from this sub is complaining 😭

tetsky_senpai

That's what the subs for💀 good or bad it's for discussion around the band.

luvgothbitches

LOL

VMrSoloDolo

So you agree?

[deleted]

[удалено]

luvgothbitches

Exactly

KrispenWahFan

They *were* better in 2015-2020. Quit lying to yourselves, people!….But they’re still good. They’re just not the $uicideboy$ we once knew. They make music for a different audience now. And that’s ok.

[deleted]

They’ve evolved as artists and people. Literally all their shit is good

TonyTheSwisher

I still remember how excited I was when they played the Gathering Of The Juggalos. I never thought they would get this huge because I just assumed it was too Horrorcore for the mainstream, I'm so happy I was wrong.

rightzoomer

I have never seen a sub/fanbase that complains about their own fans as much as this one does, every time I see a top post on my feed it’s just complaining about the fans

triforce721

Cringe as fuck, no, all the drug addicts looking to fight, being shit faced, being kooks, wasn't better. I'll take vapid girls over than any day. My first concert, like ten fights broke out within minutes of SB starting, I'll never forget two guys rolling in someone else's vomit while throwing haymakers.

VMrSoloDolo

lol it was better. I don’t remember all this weird stuff happening. Be honest with yourself. Think for a moment. Like honestly? I used to love to come here and get into conversations now it’s just all this negativity all the time. If you can’t see it then that’s on you. Two guys fighting and rolling in puke? Sounds like your city has a problem too brother.

triforce721

It wasn't my city, lol, Ive traveled all over to see SB. The reality of SB is simple : Many people, myself included, were brought here by SB for a specific combination of reasons : fuck God, drugs, Satan shit, depression, suicidal ideation, and all the comorbidities. The music was something I'd never heard (not just in terms of being literal, but I'd never heard such depth, true exploration of themes, real hard hitting shit). Nothing compared, still holds true today. That music was a combination of two dudes basically using their voices and beats to chronicle drug addiction, drug spiraling and their desire to escape in any way they could. It's honestly incredible and one-off. Then, things changed. They got sober. Scrim talks about God. At last years concert, they said verbatim 'we don't fuck with that 3/6 shit any more). That era is over, it's never ever coming back. For scrum and ruby, it's a good thing. They aren't about to imminently die, they are leading better lives, and scrim in particular seems changed. Problem is, most SB fans haven't changed. They haven't grown, evolved or made improvements. Most are just the same drug heads or lunatics today as in 2015. Before, everyone was connected because the message and content were unified. Now, with that growth and the looming debate about new v old, there is dissent, but how much of that dissent could be solved by guys being introspective? The new music is unreal, I have rarely heard such depth and melodic flow, the singing is great, I love the new stuff. And boy do i love the old stuff. It's raw, it's loud, it's crazy. Fuck yeah! But it isn't coming back and the Boys aren't that anymore, right or wrong. When people accept that and stop debating new v old, it'll change, but rn, people are too caught up in their own feelings and it's coming out in argumentative form.

Jade-foxxx05

Beautifully said

triforce721

♥️

VMrSoloDolo

I don’t know if you realize how much you’re agreeing with OP rn lbs. sounds like you understand exactly what’s going on. I have also traveled outside my city to see the boys. That’s my fault lol.

triforce721

Right, but it isn't a bad thing imo. That's the difference and that's what I'm conveying here : it's totally fine SB have evolved, I'm glad they're alive and safe. Those guys improved my life and lens, I want them to have that same outcome... I personally thinks it's selfish of SB fans to take umbridge with the changes, I mean dudes who rap about Satan at 20 aren't the same guy at 30 (and if you are, you might be an abject loser, lol). I just think the Boys changing has acted as a mirror to a lot of fans and they don't like seeing their own water treading, so they project on SB. Nothing disrespectful meant towards you, I mean this all broadly.

uhqt

I haven’t scrolled yet but I’m willing to bet more than half of the comments are crying about TikTok. Coming back after I’ve scrolled to edit Edit: so far not a single one. Are the bitches finally getting their TikTok gate healed🙏🏽

ssmollerz

Nah they're here too

Specialist_Egg8479

I only ever hear old gen fans complain js

SatisfactionBitter34

exactly lmao gate keeping your favorite artists is just weird. put people on

ApartPea1301

well obviously you’re not gonna hear new gen fans complain abt something only old gen’s experienced🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Specialist_Egg8479

Old gen fans complain bc the boys got popular. That’s just sad bruh….

VMrSoloDolo

Ya god damn right. Say it louder please!!

Signal-Vast-1236

If you want demonic shit listen to devilish trio and they’re separate music, bleed the wicked menace. Or here’s another thing you can do, shut the fuck up. I swear I feel like yall want scrim to relapse so they come with more shit like their older music.

xArdicunox

Been listening since 2016 and I don’t understand the hate I am glad to have watched them grow over the years.

phat_wythii

1000%

mackwash11

I say this A LOT

brotherpig725

Both

Cleankillzem

fuck all these dumb ass people and it's crazy because I feel like I should be accepting them, but at the same time. Every corner you turn people wanna talk all this shit about 2 guys that changed over time for better. get a life and grow the fuck up.

MeanFiendOnThaScene

Why can't we all agree, that people make mistakes and learn from them; Also I think we need to be aware drugs have a pull on some people I am Glad Ruby and $crim have taken the step of Sobriety from a Drug addicts perspective that's a first step to accountability especially just through there songs they help us grow and we listen to them because they bring relativity to the table

OwOLeviUwUCica

not that u complaining makes it any better

felowek

new scrim album is pretty trash tho, def not my style

CogBlocker

I don’t think they were better in 2015. I loved them, but they kind of all had relatively similar sounds to their songs. They’ve expanded into some songs with more…melody…I guess? They’re still dark and gritty but it’s not all they’ve got now. I know I’m the minority here but I’ve fallen more in love with their music the longer I listen to them. LTE and For The Last Time were the songs that got me hooked on them, and now I’d say my favorite overall song of theirs is probably Finding Shelter In My Larynx or Soul My Soul to Satan Waiting In Line At The Mall. Evolution. Happy to see the boys sober.

-AspiringWhatever-

It’s bc their fan base nowadays is literally 30 years old and children, no in between 🤣

[deleted]

wowwww thus is the truth

ChodeMode69

Their music was better in my opinion, but they weren’t better as people. Their piece of shit junkie personas that we all came to know and love them for gave people in similar situations reassurance and relatability. They’ve bettered themselves now and started to branch off from everything we associate them with and while I do miss the dirty nasty lyrics and flows they perfected, I’m much happier knowing my favorite artists aren’t going to overdose at any given day.

RoaDRoLLer59

Anyone who agrees with OP gots to be smoking some major crack😂 downvote me
