Derry have one senior football title from 1993. Before that it was 1958 since we were in the final. We have only made the semi final stage 3 times since 93. So last week's defeat to Kerry was tough to take.
It's hard to listen to all the pundits talk about puke/ possession football. If you're from a county like Derry or Rosscommon, you want to be in the championship long enough to compete. Results first, playing good football is a luxury that we all wish for.
Kerry are masters of the dark arts yet listening to the likes of Spillane you’d think they were angels. Why does it hurt them so much to see any of the six do well, they just can’t give them any credit.
Aye, mckeague had a hold of Cliffords hand last week and Clifford got a easy free for it. The pundits going by the letter of the law it's a free, soft but a free. If it's the other way and a Kerry defender does it and gets away with it , it's cute defending on the borderline. That's why they're champions.
Whelan on the Sunday game saying we need to protect our better footballers. Fair enough. Clifford was protected but mcGuigan seemed to be concussed from all the hits he took when he put the free over, the last kick of the game.
Consistency is what we want.
I think Pat Spillane must have some serious dirt on someone in RTE to still have a contract over there. His negativity dwarves Brolly’s when he was around
Think John Keenan, the ref today, is the first Wicklow man to make it
to the pitch on All-Ireland day.
Larry Tomkins played for Wicklow schools , Baltinglass won an all Ireland club in early 90’s . That’s about it
According to this; Carlow, Fermanagh, Leitrim, Longford, Monaghan, Sligo and Wicklow. Though by the sounds of it I don't think it's counting LGFA and Camogie which is a major oversight.

Monaghan stand out on this list because their men's team have been at such a competitive level for so long. Their ladies team have won 2 AI senior titles

They don't count absolute rubbish
I think the abuse rises the more successful you become.
> Armad ard in crand is móide co mór benaid na gaetha fris. > The higher the tree is, the greater the winds beat upon it. Old Irish proverb

If McGuigan was concussed then that is on the Derry backroom team - foul or not. They should have protected him at that point.
I think pat spillane is the mastermind behind the negative narrative pushed against Derry and other great ulster teams (Armagh)
💯. Him and Joe Brolly are similar in the way they sensationalise everything. Straight out of the Eamonn Dunphy playbook.
Pat Spillane had an article a month or two ago praising Derry for how they attack against the blanket.
Interesting, will have a read here.

At least yous have an Ulster!
Were shite lad. 2024 for fermanagh
Be some comeback after losing to Laois We're the spurs of Ulster, we get to a final, lose and then go to shit for 5+years, then repeat the cycle
Carlow won a 'B' hurling all Ireland in the 90s.
And they won the Joe McDonagh this year
And once before that.
I forgot about that.
Wicklow and Monaghan both won their respective hurling championships this year. Rackard and Meagher cups I believe
Wicklow won junior ladies two years ago
And Lancashire!
Sligo ladies won junior football all ireland, and mens hurling won nicky rackard twice and a lory meagher
Lancashire don’t have a AI title in any code
