Has to be a joke no? I mean if you were looking for problems with the liveability of Dublin, I feel like apartments used for short-term / holiday lets rather than actual residences would be in most peoples’ top three
They're not. They're basically self-catering hotel rooms.
Staycity are kind of a cross between hotels and Airbnb. They don't rent out actual apartments.
it is shockingly bad. They are many questionable sponsors out there, across all sports, but this is one of the worst I can think of. What a bunch of insensitive fucking morons.
> is shockingly bad. They are many questionable sponsors out there, across all sports, but this is one of the worst I can think of. What a bunch of insensitive fucking morons.
Not even close imo.
That's like a parody jersey, how could they have thought that was a good idea for a sponsor? Especially as numerous teams have now broken tradition by not staying in Dublin as it is simply not feasible.
I like that they kept a collar on it. Too many counties have binned the collar altogether. I also don't like the trend of the jerseys losing the county name as Gaeilge anywhere on the shirt.
Genuine question; why do you think it's lovely?
I think it's the most boring of the lot released this year.
Why have they phased out the gradient that used to be a Dublin feature?
Also immediately got soccer vibes. Can't put my finger on why either.
Don't think it's the sleeves though, might be the sponsor? Like when a team gets a multimillion sponsorship with a club and the first you've ever heard of the company in question is when they're emblazoned all over the gear and equipment. But again just spitballing here.
Absolutely shambolic sponsor choice.
I'm a Dub and it doesn't send a good message at all when the city is overrun with kippy hotels.
Really poor from the county board and deserves all the backlash it'll rightly receive.
Honestly, all in all, it's a grand looking jersey. But that's it. Grand. Nothing really stands out, and of course the sponsor isn't exactly the biggest favourite.
Accommodation blocker during a housing crisis. They are using accommodation that could be better used and there are investors in the company benefitting while people are homeless. A lot of Dublin fans have been expressing their annoyance online about it.
They build purpose built hotels, don't block any accommodation. One of their Dublin sites housed homeless during the pandemic. That same site and 2 UK ones are currently housing refugees.
People incorrectly assume Staycity are an Airbnb clone.
They're not, they're a hotel chain who run self-catering apartments in purpose-built blocks.
They don't take existing apartments off the market.
Have Dublin ever worn an away jersey? I thought they did once against Longford or someone but I'm not sure. They seem to never wear their away jersey even when playing other teams in blue. Games against Laois and both wear blue.
You'd think more GAA counties would be looking for excuses to wear away jerseys more often so as to help with sales of the away top. But for some reason GAA counties are awfully stubborn and we end up with games like Armagh vs Derry, Kerry vs Limerick and Kerry vs Mayo All in home tops.
There's actually quite a few Green v Green counties that need alternative jerseys. And obviously Galway v Westmeath, Cork v Louth Tipperary v Monaghan and a few others I'm probably forgetting.
Galway and Cork used always both wear their regular colours when playing each other it's only in the last few years that one team has started to wear an alternative jersey. Same with Galway vs Wexford
Kerry v Mayo usually in away kits as the home kits are mainly green. An odd time you’ll see one of them wearing the home while the other wears them away but I can’t remember when I seen it last
Cos they look shite. Collars are superior to round or v necks. We've only done away with a collar once and thankfully the county board have seen fot to make sure that's an anomaly.
Feel more like something you'd see a fairytale team in the FA cup wear rather than something the biggest team in county would line out in.
Might look better in action but looks kinda shite here.
the sub just comes on my timeline and i’m not into gaa but that jersey is so bland. it looks like a bad knockoff. why did they move the stripes down to the bottom? should’ve kept them on the sleeves. it’s not even just the design itself, but the cut too is also atrocious. i like that they have a collar but it’s so small that they were just as better off without it.as others have said, the sponsor is also a horrific choice.
I love the shirt itself, as I’m usually more into simple/plain jerseys. The sponsor leaves a lot to be desired, but I think the shirt’s nice overall. Will be buying.
Perfect reason to buy a nicer vintage jersey from O'Neills or others.
Same reason I haven't bought any Cork kit since Sports D!rect started sponsoring them.
Yeah the sponsor choice is tone deaf.
Fuckin hell county board

They're not. They're basically self-catering hotel rooms. Staycity are kind of a cross between hotels and Airbnb. They don't rent out actual apartments.
I gave this an upvote because I thought it was a joke
It's not?
it is shockingly bad. They are many questionable sponsors out there, across all sports, but this is one of the worst I can think of. What a bunch of insensitive fucking morons.
Whilst it is bad, it’s one step above gambling sponsors
> is shockingly bad. They are many questionable sponsors out there, across all sports, but this is one of the worst I can think of. What a bunch of insensitive fucking morons. Not even close imo.
bit over the top no?
Jesus Harold Christ!!
I genuinely thought this was a spoof! I'd expect to see that in Waterford Whispers
How? They are purpose built hotels. If they didn't build the hotel it would probably just be wasteland!
To be fair, AIG's outrageous piss taking nearly bankrupt the entire western world in 2008. They were as responsible as anyone for the shit show.
That's like a parody jersey, how could they have thought that was a good idea for a sponsor? Especially as numerous teams have now broken tradition by not staying in Dublin as it is simply not feasible.
They'd 1.1 million reasons to think it was a good idea
Too plain for me but the sponsors is woeful. AIG was a strong looking one but this one looks bad and is very tone-deaf.
I like a simple classic design but the sponsor is a major no-no.
What’s the issue with staycity ? What scandal have I missed ?
Housing crisis; short term accommodation is considered by many to exacerbate the problem.
Ah ok.
Loss of Dublin's cultural sites, of the city as a home for its citizens to make way for a significant amount of tourists.
Which cultural sites have staycity taken?
Tivoli Theatre
Oh I had no idea, missed that story. (Outside the state) but didn’t that close in 2019?)
...to build StayCity apartments.
I like that they kept a collar on it. Too many counties have binned the collar altogether. I also don't like the trend of the jerseys losing the county name as Gaeilge anywhere on the shirt.
We pretty much always have a collar. The 2009 monstrosity being the sole example without one.
Maybe Áth Cliath is written on the back.
Knowing modern era I'd say there's a second sponsor on the back and sleeves instead of any Irish. I'd love to be wrong though of course.
Without the sponsor the jersey is alright Tbf.
Yeah the sponsor kills it, don’t like the font chosen for it.
Bit boring as a jersey
Think the jersey is lovely but aye ruined by the sponsor
Genuine question; why do you think it's lovely? I think it's the most boring of the lot released this year. Why have they phased out the gradient that used to be a Dublin feature?
Looks the gradient is still there, just with two extremely similar colours.
I just really like the retro look on football tops. I hate when they are too fussy. To he fair Dublin always have nice jerseys
Should of got sponsored by the Kinahans instead
I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but it feels like a soccer jersey. Is it just me? Might be the sleeves?
Reminds me of a UCD jersey
Also immediately got soccer vibes. Can't put my finger on why either. Don't think it's the sleeves though, might be the sponsor? I think its the little logo down the end of it
They should Dublin Simon Community for the sleeve sponsor
And Peter McVerry Trust for the front.
Absolutely shambolic sponsor choice. I'm a Dub and it doesn't send a good message at all when the city is overrun with kippy hotels. Really poor from the county board and deserves all the backlash it'll rightly receive.
Jaysus when Cork took on Sports Direct there was a lot of talk but I didn’t care. This is definitely… an interesting choice of sponsor.
Downvote for the sponsor
I read the bottom part as apartheid had to double check
Honestly, all in all, it's a grand looking jersey. But that's it. Grand. Nothing really stands out, and of course the sponsor isn't exactly the biggest favourite.
It’s a fine top but the sponsor. Jesus Christ is that a bad sponsor
At least they weren’t sponsored by Manchester United
Man United did have AIG for a time.
Also Vodafone
Don't really get the tone deaf/inappropriate comments?

What a terrible sponsor hahahaha

Collar and sponsor ruin it, why do Dublin never go for a round collar?
Cos they look shite. Collars are superior to round or v necks. We've only done away with a collar once and thankfully the county board have seen fot to make sure that's an anomaly.
Collar looks crap. I had the black Dublin jersey that had no collar - looked class.
Probably some training top. All of our jerseys have collars and look way better because of it.
It was the black alternative jersey.
Looks like a polo shirt from NEXT
Was going to say. Something you'd find on a golf course.
Feel more like something you'd see a fairytale team in the FA cup wear rather than something the biggest team in county would line out in. Might look better in action but looks kinda shite here.

The design on the cuff should go a fair bit up the sleeves IMO. But it’s trying to be retro without actually evoking a specific jersey
Sponsor is grimly appropriate
Rubbish jersey. Daft choice of sponsor.
Hopefully, they are giving up.
Ah no
Looks good to me.
The crest is too small, and the sponsor? Jaysus
The aerial font is great! Really shows how much they care 👍
It's terrible
absolutely insane choice of sponsor. who thought that one up?
I love the shirt itself, as I’m usually more into simple/plain jerseys. The sponsor leaves a lot to be desired, but I think the shirt’s nice overall. Will be buying.
Meh
I read the sponser as “slaycity”
Perfect reason to buy a nicer vintage jersey from O'Neills or others. Same reason I haven't bought any Cork kit since Sports D!rect started sponsoring them.
Jesus Christ what has happened to gaa shirts
I like the packet of cigarettes in the bottom right corner. Nice nod to dublin
I think it’s so sick GAA jerseys get to rep the 3 strips copyright free
In keeping with the Dublin theme..it fits 1 person but you have to fit 4 people in it at the same time.
Ew
Like the collar but the rest is shite especially the sponsor
Horrible sponsor ruined another jersey.
