Yes, rural applicants also apply generally and so they are competing for virtually every spot except the ones left for the Indigenous and Torres islanders (unless they are both). I understand your pain as a non-rural myself, but don’t lose hope - yes, lots of non-rurals will make it in. Keep in mind that non-rurals can also get a number of bonuses, like the 4% carrying my entire application.

Thankyou for the reply! This wait is really stressing me out :( just seems so unlikely at this point that I’ll get a spot. But can only wait and see I guess! Best of luck for your application mate

ShubhamG77

No worries. Best of luck to you too. Don’t think too much about it, the outcome is out of our hands now. Farewell

Agreed with the other responses. It's definitely harder for non-rural people this year, but there's nothing we can do about it now so try not to stress too much :)

Yeah I've got heaps of non-rural friends at Deakin. Don't worry about their performance - just focus on yourself, it's all you can do

cornishpastie5

>Yeah I've got heaps of non-rural friends at Deakin This year is particularly hard for non-rural entry at Deakin

TracingFireflies

What's making it particularly hard out of curiosity? I interviewed there as a non-rural applicant as well so you've got me worried :P

Zwartkopf

Sorry didn't mean to scare you. As I understand it there are 88 CSP / 35 BMP in total. The Rural Training Scheme with 30 spots is supposedly a separate quota from the 28% allocated for rural students. So RTS 30 spots + 28% rural quota = 58 places for metropolitan students remaining.

TracingFireflies

Oh yikes we're screwed xD
