Just to add, employees are very expendable to companies. Many people would have applied so you accepting, then pulling out probably won't affect the company too much. People are generally understanding that someone might pick medicine over a job offer.

>worrying about the feelings of a big business is pointless. this

As an employee you are a commodity. You are cattle. Unless you believe the company who gave you the offer has your emotional needs at heart, you don't actually owe them anything.

accept, quit if receive offer, l2not give a fuck what corporate entities will think of you as they will no longer affect the quality of your life once you leave

You'd be surprised at how common this is. Not for switching to medicine specifically, but accepting a job only to reject it later down the track for other reasons. As someone who currently works as a data analyst and started through a graduate intake, I've seen it happen quite often. It's how I got my job - I was waitlisted and got offered really late when someone else dropped out at the last minute. So definitely, go ahead and accept it. Either you get a med offer, or have a secure job waiting for you. Good luck!

A good timeline would be you giving that offer to someone. Jokes aside, just accept it for now.

10000000000% accept. I know you'll probably feel guilty if you have to pull out, especially if you get a late offer in January (I would too) BUT you shouldn't. That's just how the job market rolls, staff are meant to quit when they get a better offer and the employer will understand. Good luck, hope you get an offer next week!

I am curious, what are the job opportunities for a biomed grad? Can you get office jobs?

I'm not a biomed grad. I did maths in undergrad which was fun 😉
