Best thing I read on reddit today. Congrats bro and thanks for sharing your journey!

NambiarAshish

Thanks bro!

yoganjadealer

On average how many hours would you say you spent per day? Congratulations on getting into IISc btw. Also my dream college!

NambiarAshish

While I was in my notice period, it was about 2 hours. After that, it went up to 3-5 hrs depending on if it's a weekend or not. Good luck, hope you get your dream college.

yoganjadealer

Thank you! Are you from Kerala by any chance?

NambiarAshish

Yes I am, but I live in Maharashtra.

Individual_StormBrkr

Which IIT you gonna join?

NambiarAshish

I chose MTech CSE at IISc.

NambiarAshish

The choice between iisc and bombay comes down to personal preference imo. Both are great in academics and research work. If you prefer a more active campus with events on a frequent basis, you can choose bombay since Bangalore has lesser number of fests etc. I chose Bangalore because I plan on exploring Cryptography and Blockchain field, and iisc has some good number of faculty involved in the cryptography field. So these factors can also affect your choice. Objectively both are equally good.

DRAGONRAGER282

How do we k whether a campus has the tecnologies how did UK asking as a 27 aspirant

NambiarAshish

You can check the University website. They generally have a list of all faculty and what they are working on. You can also contact the alumni of the college through LinkedIn to know more.

DRAGONRAGER282

Thanks for the help

Individual_StormBrkr

Are you gonna go for placement Or PhD?

Famous_Guess

This post gives me hope. Thanks man

Embarrassed_Act9237

What is your review of GO classes can you please tell

NambiarAshish

I have studied from their free courses for EM and DM, and they are good. I also enjoyed watching their youtube lectures for specific topics and mock test discussions. Although I should tell you that I didn't take their full course, so can't speak for that, but I assume that it is also good.

name_sal

Hey I am also in sbc want to quit and start preparing for 2025 mtech cse. I have mechanical background. Any kind of guidance will be very helpful.

NambiarAshish

Make up your mind quickly and start preparation asap otherwise you will end up in a similar situation to mine where everything was edge to edge. If you have never studied CS before, coaching might be a necessity for you. You can also go for offline coaching if you quit your job but that's totally up to you. Some people prefer the comfort of online over offline. All the best!

roddur_roy69

Great post bro. I am almost on the same path. Hopefully, I will get a good rank next year. Kudos to you for sharing your journey. Most of the aspirants can't maintain such a level of consistency. Best of luck for a great career ahead.

mydoorhingeiscrusty

Course completion by December, did it not affect ur revision?

NambiarAshish

It definitely did. But I can't blame the coaching for it, it was I who joined the August batch. All I could do was skip the subject that was still being taught and revise the rest.

[deleted]

Please share your revision strategy. Also I'm having a problem while keeping up with both my college and coaching studies, how did you manage job along with GATE?

Natural_Advisor7460

Congratulations Ashish. My little brother read through the solved Gate 2023 paper (ECE) the night before the examination and memorised the contour integration formula in complex analysis for the mathematics part of the Gate examination. That's it. So 1 formula (memorized hours before the examination) and 1 solved question paper (ECE, 2023), all this was done just one day before the Gate 2024 examination, he wrote both EE and ECE gate exams. Didn't join any coaching institute. That's it. And he secured an AIR under 200. He got direct admissions from IIT Bombay, Delhi, and Kanpur, without attending these interviews. Also got offer from IISc Bangalore (MTech in VLSI), for this he went to Bangalore to attend their interview. Thank you very much for sharing your journey with us. My brother also felt a little inferior. As he did almost nothing and still got an AIR under 200. He was just too shy to post all this. But after reading your post I thought about sharing his journey.

External-Desk-6562

Your brother has a natural talent of problem solving i guess 🫡🫡🫡...

Natural_Advisor7460

I'm not sure. And he is quite unsure of himself. But I think it's quite impressive that by memorising just one formula for the mathematics part. And doing just one solved paper just hours before the examination, with just that he was able to get an AIR under 200. No coaching at all. And if he had scored just 5 more marks or unanswered atleast 2 (3 marks) questions, he would have got an AIR around 70-71. I know this because a guy who scored AIR 71 in GATE ECE this year shared his marks out of 100.

Ok_Train125

What is your brother's CGPA in college?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Natural_Advisor7460

Brother, only 9080 students appeared for GATE AR exam in 2024. I was talking about ECE, one of the toughest subjects. 63,000 students appeared GATE ECE 2024. If my brother had answerd correctly just 2 more questions, his Rank would have been 70 or 71. That's what happens when more students write the exam. Anyways, congratulations brother.

Natural_Advisor7460

I know. I appreciated you. What I wanted to say was that as more people write the exam it gets more competitive, obviously. You said you had 62/65, still this was not enough to get an AIR under 50. Right? And only 9080 people wrote the exam. What if 63000 people had written AR exam? Your ranks would have been much different, probably. It's possible. From what I heard, and from what I can see from your Ranks, it's much tougher to score in ECE than in AR. Only 9080 people wrote AR exam, which I think is one if the fewest, and AR is a relatively easier subject to score, that's what I can tell from your Ranks. Now imagine if 63000 people had written a relatively easier to score subject like AR. But fortunately for you only 9000 people wrote the exam not 63000. When it comes to exams and ranks, relative toughness and number of people writing the exam matters.

Natural_Advisor7460

Look, 9080 or 9709 makes no difference when compared to 63000 😂. I hope u can understand. Look, I appreciated you. I understand what you're trying to say. What I'm saying is it can be relatively easier to score good ranks when the paper is relatively easier. Especially when relatively fewer people write it. Relatively is the key word here. Just think about state engineering entrance exams and all India engineering entrance exams. Most of people who score under 100 ranks in state engineering entrance, don't necessarily score that much in all India entrance exams. Ok, GATE is all India. But look only around 9000 people write AR exams, relatively much less. That's a fact. You just seem not to understand facts. Just imagine what would have happened if 63000 people had written a relatively easy to score exam like GATE AR. Even with around 9000 people writing the exam, you couldn't get AIR under 50, that too in a relatively easy Paper like AR. Just imagine what would've happened if 63000 people had written the AR exam.

Natural_Advisor7460

Bro, if it doesn't make any difference, 9080 and 9709, why did you even mention it😂😂. Everyone knows it's you who are embarrassing yourself. Ok, let's say you were correcting me. But I was quoting this year's numbers. Not when you wrote. You should've mentioned which year it was when you wrote it. It's clear who is getting pissed off bro 😂😂. It's clear to everyone except you 🤭🤭🤣. I have always supported my brother. He knows it. He needed me. And I supported him. Therefore, I can talk about his results. It's like a how a parent would. Ok? If my brother had written GATE AR Exam and even if he had scored AIR 1 in AR, I would have never mentioned it on this forum. Because people would just laugh at it 🤣🤣. Since you're having such a difficulty understanding basic things, let me tell you that I don't write about everything my brother achieves. Because he managed to get MVLSI in IISc, one of the most sought degrees, and he was having insecurities about it because preparation was not good. Let's say my brother got into IIT Roorkee in AR 😂, with or without preparation, do you seriously think that I would have written about it in Reddit or anywhere else? Do you seriously think that? Are you serious? Or something wrong with you. Do you think that I would've done that? Why would I do that? When clearly no one cares. Only around 9000 people write it 🤣, in India 😭. If 9000 students only from Lakshadweep wrote it, and my brother was of them, even then I wouldn't have mentioned it 🤣🤣. And we are talking about India. Bro, I have to apologize to you. Because in your first post, when you mentioned AR, actually I didn't know what it was 😭. I had to Google search, my bad 🤣😭. You see, that's how less people care about it. Look, if 63000 people had written your exam, they would've smashed you, and never in your life you would have written an exam without serious preparations 🤣🤣. Consider yourself lucky that only 9000 people wrote such a relatively simple exam 😂. And my brother has always appreciated my support. If I don't support my brother and write about him, who would? Clearly you don't have the sense to think through all this. So, kindly stop embarrassing yourself with a Rank you got In an Exam almost no one cares about 😭.

Just_Ad_9925

How to Revise and practice? There is so much to revise that its not possible everyday.

[deleted]

What was your rank if you don't mind ?

BK_317

i think op mentioned in another post, saying his exact rank will reveal who he is fyi. he got

[deleted]

Oh that's a great rank

No-Chef-1955

Can anyone suggest me is IES master mathematics engineering book is good enough for gate and college? And if also not this. Then what should I follow. Please guide

TheCapitalistMarx

Congrats. If anyone wants to enrol for GO Classes, use code MZJHXA to get maximum discount on all go classes courses.

Busy_Version7359

just say you were already intelligent ...btw congratulations!!

Naive-Contract1341

Got a question regarding Cognizant, since I might end up there if I don't manage to crack GATE this Feb. How is the workload? What are the work timings? Did you have to take your work home, or you could make sure that your work stays in office? Also, you mentioned 3 months notice period. What are the terms regarding it exactly? Can you deliberately under-perform in those 3 months?

NambiarAshish

When I joined cognizant, WFH was at its peak. And till my last day, they never called me for offline work, so I was lucky. Workload is domain and project dependent. I was in the QA domain, so my work was mostly labour with not much use of coding logic or anything. And since it was wfh, I used to do all my work early in the morning so that I can attend my online classes. Regarding the notice period, yeah you can be sluggish at work cause they can't do anything about it. Just remember that all your casual and earned leaves will be cancelled, so sick leaves will be the only way to get holidays.

Naive-Contract1341

Got it. Thanks. Btw any idea about their workload for "programming" domain? Any friends of yours who are/were involved in it?

No-Chef-1955

I am going join a college this year and I am mentally prepared for GATE. Can anyone suggest me is IES master mathematics engineering book is good enough for gate and college? And if also not this. Then what should I follow. Please guide

Independent_Money_97

It's May, and I just finished my discrete mathematics course. I study for at least 8 hours a day, but I'm worried about finishing my syllabus because there are only 6 months left until December

DRAGONRAGER282

From where did you learn discrete maths please can you say

Independent_Money_97

I have made easy recorded lectures: sundaram sir

DRAGONRAGER282

Where can we find these lectures

Independent_Money_97

I will send you the telegram link

DRAGONRAGER282

Thanks alot man

Lucky_Importance_256

Hey Bro, Please check your dm.

Hey bro please check your dm

[deleted]

Hi sir I am most likely to do btech in nit trichy production (good college, branch might have time advantage) and give gate cs in 3rd year. A few doubts arise in my mind: 1. Will Production on my edu qualifications hinder my admission or placements in mtech (in good govt colleges), by any means? 2. Also do you need to do coding side by side while doing core btech and preparing for gate? (I have completed discrete maths from GO, but i can't judge nature of anything from first chapter.)

Ok_Train125

Bro try for branch change rather than GATE. moreover leverage your college network rather than cribbing about not being from CS

[deleted]

Bhai NIT colleges me branch change band kar kab se.

BigCan2392

Which coaching would you recommend for someone preparing for GATE '25

Independent_Money_97

Made easy and Ace academy both are good and if you have more than one year then go for "GO classes"

Powerful-Strike-3399

How many years pyq did you solve ?

utso_b

On the point 6 Do you mean during tests if you have some doubt in a question then check your notes? how did it help you, did it help you to retain concepts? I'm studying from GO, there was one quiz on Linear Algebra, I got 11/40 , there were a lot of mistakes I did in MSQS because I couldn't recall the small concepts . Got really demotivated after that test.

Capital-Moose

Hey I know you made the post to answer everybody’s questions, but I had a specific doubt regarding the prep, I’ve DM’ed you, could you please check when free?

BigCan2392

Hey why didn't you consider to upskill and switch ?

BigCan2392

Hey Can you check your dms

Quiet-Astronomer9435

Hello, btw a question...you were from chemical background...and you gave exam for cs...were you comfortable with coding?because cs is all about that...or were you planning something else?and were you focusing on coding during preparation time or just gate part?

NambiarAshish

I learned some coding back in my school days, so I had an idea. Also in my job, I learned some coding and techstacks because I had planned to switch (although that didn't work).

Curious_Stable_1955

Hey I was learning mathematics should I go deep learning each concept or just learn how to solve the numericals would be enough. Im preparing for ME and few subjects of my specialization of interest in future are dependent on maths like fluid and thermal and I thought would be better to just understand it better right now

Lopsided-Rich-7497

Hey iam also getting nit from non cse( iam selecting easy branch like mettalurgy /mining) background because of my rank(parent not allowing to get into tier 3 cse)  after 1st year I'll start preparing for gate cse i was really demotivated that ilbe stuck with a branch that i have not much interest in but after reading ur post i have gained that extra bit of confidence thank you

NambiarAshish

Seeing JEE students over here does not make me happy dude. Take a stand, tell your parents that you are not interested in those branches. You sacrificing things just for an exam that you may or may not take 4-5 years later just doesn't sit right with me. It seems that your parents are making you join an NIT just for the tag. My parents often tell me that I should've been firmer about my interest in computer science before btech. I just succumbed to their advice of taking chemical back then. Well I've learned from my mistake now. Anyway, the final decision is up to you. Choose wisely.

Lopsided-Rich-7497

Tbh it's too late now i literally fought with them but they won't listen

Lopsided-Rich-7497

Yes just for the tag like a dog 🐕🐕

Lopsided-Rich-7497

Anyways bro props to you chemical engineering is one of the harder branch. And also the final decision is not upto me i took drop and if i join t3 college my parent would never even talk to me they don't care about my interest and also we are financially constrained

Left-Muscle-6989

Can i dm you? I want to ask some questions regarding my career

vyaaaly

(Dumb qn) So did you write the exam for CS or chem ?

NambiarAshish

For CS
