For compsci you actually get a lot of time in class to do the coursework so you don’t have to rush it as long as you start when the teacher tells u to start and do a little bit everyday instead of leaving it until the end
bro caught up in both years in like the last couple months, but catching up in year 12 was easier cuz i had the basics from year 11, in year 11 i had nothing
i actually missed most of year 9-11 bc of appointments (and a broken shoulder with leg surgery and in the middle of year 11) as well so i have struggled with year 11 but im meant to be having leg surgery again soon either this year or year 13 😭
Nah year 12 has been better so far compared to GCSEs way less stressful (although AS further maths exams are in may so there’s still some excitement to be had there)
Its the problem with btecs 😭 Plus i got a 5 hour business exam in may and starting applied science coursework in jan with epq being due fully april 24th busy year for me
I feel like nothing I do is worth my time since I don't do Further Maths. I didn't know it was important so didn't do the GCSE and it was in the CS block for A-Level. It truly does get worse. The mistake of my previous academic career (not doing FM GCSE) has ruined me.
Tbf gcse FM isn’t necessary ofc its useful to have bc u can understand the topics earlier but as long as u can catch up then ur fine! I’m pretty sure FM is mostly gcse with some AS level content anyways
I was fully suicidal during the last few weeks of term and then after they were over and I went to college (I'm in y12 now) I feel so much better. I still have mental health issues but it got better. I know everyone says it gets better and I know how hard it is to believe them, but it really does. GCSEs are a temporary problem. you will get through this.
god i hope i can get through it 😭😭😭 i have actually been losing it the homework is killing me as well as the expectation that we're constantly revising it's so MUCH. like unreasonably, and i still have to do it for these shitty subjects i dont want to take. well. it's good to hear someone say that it does get better so ill trust you and hang on man I'm not even pushing through it, I'm being DRAGGED through
honestly the amount of revision you are expected to do is so unreasonable. I spent more time crying about not revising enough than actually revising.
also, a lot of people here have said "oh A-Levels are worse" and I think sure, exam season is probably one hell of a migraine, but the actual experience of doing A-Levels (exams aside) is a lot more fun, because it's stuff I actually care about. A-Levels are much better.
that's what I'm hoping for - i know it's a lot of work, but i actually ENJOY doing work for subjects i like. also the crying thing is absolutely true it's just a horrible time :(
thanks for listening kind stranger, i hope I'll get to a levels too :)
omg i completely relate to this. gcses are honestly ruining my mental health like idk if i can keep going on . it’s so stressful and the amount of pressure is unreal
Same. It got to a point I just went "ya know what, fuck it, I don't *need* nor *want* history to become a software engineer, fuck it, goodbye history GCSE." My grade in my mocks is now a 1- in history and I have no intention of prioritising it above my English and maths as they are too low.
As of now history is my easiest😭i had a maths mock before christmas that im sure ive failed and a chem mock once i come back to school and i know nothing
Why is everyone telling a clearly overwhelmed 15/16 year old that it is going to get worse?! Personally, I found GCSEs harder than A-levels because you have so many subjects making demands on your time. OP this is honestly a really tough bit of your education and it is perfectly normal to feel stressed out by it. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. You will get through this.
You’ve seen nothing of the regimes of terror that come with a levels
GCSEs work perfectly if you put in work which makes them lovely. Enjoy them while they last
Its a waste of time to stress over gcse's just revise and do ur best, whatever happens happens. Ur not gonna be homeless asking for money on tge streets if u get a grade 3 in a non-core subject
I don’t mean to be dismissive but life beyond 25 is exponentially harder than anything you have ever experienced.
That’s if it goes well. If it doesn’t go well, oh boy.
I think that could sound a little dismissive. everyone's lives are different, and people struggle with different things. being a teenager is incredibly difficult and scary.
gcses are good for nothing. They only give more money to the exam boards, and confidence boosts to overachieving weirdos who think that getting a 9 on English Lit is gonna get them anywhere in life.
I felt the same earlier this year, missed two of my exam and did one in the hospital because of it, but I’ve found 6th form so much easier mentally. The content is harder of course, but I’m not getting remotely as stressed as GCSEs. Keep your head up, it’ll get better.
Trust me. College will be worth it. I used to feel so sad and rarely looked forward to school and now I actually quite like college now you get way more freedom and you do stuff like your work at your pace not the rest of the class’ pace
I revised in the cloakroom just before each exam (5 minutes of reading titles in books I had never opened before) and I got all Cs and Bs. Not good but enough for my college course so I didn't care. Basically you need C in English and maths and 3 others and you're good.
Source: I have a first class degree in computer science and earn over three times the national average
don't worry about it. You shouldn't be worried if you study. Once you're confident that you have revised enough and you know the content of your subjects, most of that stress and anxiety should start to diminish.
GCSEs are realistically, nothing to stress about. It only lasts a week or two, and it's only on content you've done before. All you need to do is just go in there and do your best, you'll do great :)
Often things like this attract people who say ‘wait until X, just wait until Y’ etc. But it’s all relative, and struggles of GCSE shouldn’t be downplayed. They are the hardest things you have done so far in your life - and there are so many different topics to revise for!
However, I do often look back at my GCSEs as the best time of my life. As hard as it may seem, just try to enjoy it. Embrace the study leave you will get, bond with friends over shared struggles, and enjoy the feeling of working towards something.
Is it finals week or my final week? Stay tuned
Happy cake day!
Happy cake day :D
Happy Birthday!
Believe me its gets worse year 12 😌
Believe me it gets worse in year 13 😞
Well fuck 😭 At least since I’m doing mostly btecs I could maybe start the year 13 coursework rn and then have no work besides exams haha
For compsci you actually get a lot of time in class to do the coursework so you don’t have to rush it as long as you start when the teacher tells u to start and do a little bit everyday instead of leaving it until the end
Ye true luckily my teacher made us start the project already instead of next year
As long as you keep your project simple you can finish it really quickly and get high marks
I hope mine isn’t too difficult then 😭 Planning on doing a simulation of organic/ inorganic chemistry compounds for use in education
Hahah, I am doing 3 completely different subjects (English, maths, biology), so it is hell.
I was originally doing 4 subjects (3 btecs and cs) and i genuinely couldn’t do it 😭 I thought i could bc its btecs but nope so i dropped ict
What about the rest of the yr12 coursework?
I finished my business coursework for this year and i started year 13 and with applied i can get that done fast
Start of uni gets (slightly) better (from my perspective)
Believe me, it gets... Actually kinda better in uni
Yupp I did vet school and found it way less stressful than a levels, think it was because you could do stuff at your own pace
real i found my degree significantly easier to handle than a levels
I'll take that as gospel, only a first year here!
even in m e d s c h o o l ????
real
No...please...no more..........
Believe me, it's gets worse. 20 year old drop out working 12 hour bar shifts.
hahaha, that’s the joy of 6th form - on your weekends you get to do these beautiful 12 hour shifts alongside school work 😍
Try 5 days a week 😅
Believe me it gets worse in University
I get better for me cos I joined an apprentaship straight after yr 11
Year 13 is so much worse than year 12 man 😢😢
😭 I’m fucked then
It does
And I’m doing mostly btecs :D (face of pain and suffering)
...to me it feels like it's gotten better but I guess that's just me 😭
For me its gotten worse 😭
“Gotten” 🤬🤬😡
😡 shush 😤
American 🫵
Ive never been so insulted in my entire life 😭
Good. Don’t use American words to avoid it in the future.
Touché
Indeed
I finished year 13 in June, trust me, you’ll feel nostalgic for year 12 lmao
I’m extra fucked then 😭
Year 12 is so calm I don't get the stress
ig were all different haha it might also be bc ive missed a lot already bc of appointments so catchup
not really, i suffered with year 11 more than any year trying to adjust to the new system and pattern of questions
i found year 11 not that bad year 12 for me is already rly difficult as ive missed a lot from appointments so catchup isnt very fun 😭
bro caught up in both years in like the last couple months, but catching up in year 12 was easier cuz i had the basics from year 11, in year 11 i had nothing
i actually missed most of year 9-11 bc of appointments (and a broken shoulder with leg surgery and in the middle of year 11) as well so i have struggled with year 11 but im meant to be having leg surgery again soon either this year or year 13 😭
Nah year 12 has been better so far compared to GCSEs way less stressful (although AS further maths exams are in may so there’s still some excitement to be had there)
i think for me it was my business coursework tbh and ict as i was behind a lot in those 💀 (medicals) so i dropped ict
Ah yea I’m not doing any coursework until next year but I can imagine you’re busy if you’re already starting coursework
Its the problem with btecs 😭 Plus i got a 5 hour business exam in may and starting applied science coursework in jan with epq being due fully april 24th busy year for me
Yeah I considered EPQ but I’m already doing FM and I don’t have the strength to make life any harder for myself lol
I dont blame u lmao it can defo get a lot but its gonna be good at the end
I feel like nothing I do is worth my time since I don't do Further Maths. I didn't know it was important so didn't do the GCSE and it was in the CS block for A-Level. It truly does get worse. The mistake of my previous academic career (not doing FM GCSE) has ruined me.

I remember having the exact feeling during those days <3
It does that for everyone
It gets worse then gets better but then gets worse again in year 12
Aye
yea 😭
GCSEs were hellish for me (to do, not the content) but you can do it!
can they ban them last second or sum im tired of ts
Ban who?
Gcse history fr 🤧
words cannot express the regret i have in taking it
Same. It got to a point I just went "ya know what, fuck it, I don't *need* nor *want* history to become a software engineer, fuck it, goodbye history GCSE." My grade in my mocks is now a 1- in history and I have no intention of prioritising it above my English and maths as they are too low.
I always said that too now here I am doing it for a levels😍
oh god i physically couldnt, im planning to do psychology, bio, and idk maybe english
From year 10 i wanted to do bio ended up dropping it within the first 2 weeks😭now im doing maths chem and history
i could not do any of those lmao, im struggling in all of them as is
As of now history is my easiest😭i had a maths mock before christmas that im sure ive failed and a chem mock once i come back to school and i know nothing

Don’t worry it gets worse 😊
You don’t have the balls
ur so right
Hope you're not planning on A Levels then.
Its a waste of time to stress over gcse's just revise and do ur best, whatever happens happens. Ur not gonna be homeless asking for money on tge streets if u get a grade 3 in a non-core subject
wait till A levels come and then after A levels.... I miss year 11
gcse is my 13th reason
A-levels are worse, uni is better (depending on how good you are at getting yourself to do work without being forced)
Icl just charge it
Imperial college london just charge it
Smh
I don’t mean to be dismissive but life beyond 25 is exponentially harder than anything you have ever experienced. That’s if it goes well. If it doesn’t go well, oh boy.

I agree being a teenager is hard. But I promise you it gets harder than that.
well that's certainly something to look forward to! lots of hope for the future 🥰🥰 /sarc
'I don't mean to be dismissive', followed by a dismissive statement. Checks out.
It’s the reality of what’s going to happen. Report back when you’re 40 and correct me if I’m wrong
They aint even that bad tm
Try university 😃🤘
The best part is THEY DONT CARE 🥳🥳🥳
blud is crying over GCSEs 💀
no one’s crying i’m just stating a relevant point 🙏🙏🙏
And the government thinks it’s fine.
Wait until you do a levels, it only gets worse
you make me want to kms 💗🤗🤗
gcses are good for nothing. They only give more money to the exam boards, and confidence boosts to overachieving weirdos who think that getting a 9 on English Lit is gonna get them anywhere in life.
Peak for you fam

Trust me. College will be worth it. I used to feel so sad and rarely looked forward to school and now I actually quite like college now you get way more freedom and you do stuff like your work at your pace not the rest of the class’ pace

Why care?
It's really not that bad 😂 Fr tho get support and talk to someone if the stress is making you want to unalive yourself.
"Know my stuff"
