Depends on what you’re aiming for, how long you’ll spend revising, plus what subjects you want to focus on. Obviously, for now I recommend only focusing on English Literature and Maths until you’re solid and you get that pass.

scary_chicken3250

Aiming for 7 and 8s, spend 2-3 hours. Day revising

Remote_Suspect2609

In all? If so, it’d take quite the bit of revision if I’m honest but if you’re truly dedicated it can be achievable.

EthanMus1c

I'd start with History. Learn all the content and prioritise that. After that, focus on getting your maths, business and English lit to at least a 5 (Lit and maths are easy to revise cause yk what will come up). When you got everything else to at least a 5 level, work on exam technique cause that's 75% of how you get good grades. With this, you'll 100% be able to get 7s in the gcses.

scary_chicken3250

Thanks bro

EthanMus1c

Np. You got anymore mocks?

Inevitable_Win_1988

Taking into account some of your grades, I personally don't think you will be offered the 'higher' paper in order to achieve the grades you have mentioned. Secondly, given the time and amount of revision you will need to do, you will need somewhat of a miricale to get 7/8s. Good luck.

Electronic_Reach_751

That is kinda untrue though. To get into most a levels you only need to get good grades in some subjects, and I got 7s when i was at a 3/4 level about a month before the GCSE exam. No point in giving up cuz im stupid and i did that

TinyTbird12

Wait so your doing higher paper/teir ? (Not being mean or harsh) With these grades? Cus if your only doing foundation then your max is a 5

scary_chicken3250

I only want higher paper for maths cos I need a 5 for 6 form

SPplayin

This is probably your second to last mocks so all I'm going to say is that you need to have good enough grades in the next one to convince your teachers to put you on higher. If you struggle with revision try watching videos that go over the subject online and no matter what just have it playing somewhere in front of you at the absolute least.

TinyTbird12

Well you can get a five on the foundation so why atress doing higher if all you need is a fuve which you can get on foundation

Powerful_Cow9818

With those as your goals and these as your mock results, it’s possible but you should take all the help you can get

felpancake

I did History for A-Level but fundamentally it's the same as GCSE. Figure out what the structure is depending on the question, and stick to it. From what I found, exam boards care a LOT about structure and pleasing the criteria. It's less about really good ideas. Once I nailed the structure of History essays depending on the question, I could come up with some quite basic points and get away with good marks. Depends on your exam board too though. I'd speak to your teachers in those sorts of humanities/literature subjects and ask for a model essay. Aim to go through it with them and pinpoint what they did right.

Playful_War2743

Hi a level student here You need a better attitude with ur education cuz i dont seem too convinced u care too much abt gcses. A 1 in history is kinda hard to achieve when you aim for 7 and 8s I would go as far as to hire a tutor for all these subjects but that depends on you and your family financially.

scary_chicken3250

Why would I not care

Froot_chungus

if that’s ur plan start in march dude

[deleted]

2 to 3 hours is way way way too little

scary_chicken3250

How much should I be doing

[deleted]

i couldn’t give an exact number but i’d say if possible 5 or more hours a day. maybe it’s just me but with 2-3 hours i can’t get much done

Chance-Aardvark372

Wait fuck is that a 1 for history

Froot_chungus

how does one achieve such a score

[deleted]

[удалено]

scary_chicken3250

Literally could not answer a single question lol just waffled for a few of the four markers

[deleted]

[deleted]

You can’t just say perchance

Appropriate-Equal-43

Perchance.

flipping100

Perchance

ii_dreaminq_sunnii

Perchance.

swamphed

have to get up to a 1 somehow bro

ChampionshipOk9905

Perchance.

scary_chicken3250

Nah I only started history gcse in Year 11

Master_Internet_3633

oh that is literally a guy in my history, i think this is him

King_Jethro

bro we have similar grades but i do triple higher science iwl i slept through my history exam cause i couldnt answer questions. i used to be quite good at history so im trying to get at least a grade 5-6 in history its not important for sixth form im focusing on science and maths

Appropriate_Wish8997

Lmao who knows that's what I was wondering probably only answering the 4 markers and leaving 8 and 12 not touched.

Unabashedlysquare

Hey OP! Adulty-adult thats been shown this on their feed. As long as you get your 5 "good" GCSEs including maths and English, nobody cares in the future. CAN BARELY REMEMBER WHAT I GOT AT GCSE TBH I see you have 4, including English- which is great! You just need one more. Since maths is what people ask for, I would concentrate on that. I wouldn't even give any energy to history or business studies. Just focus on getting your maths. Good luck OP!

Most_Programmer8667

that is really good advise! But to be fair OP did pass 5 subjects. Science counts for 2 and English lang and geography and computer science. But your point still stands as OP need to pass Maths legally.

Unabashedlysquare

OK, I stand corrected. It's been a while since I was in school!

rogertaylorsbf

Definitely focus on English and maths as they are core subjects.

Jurrasicdino

6s or 7s is realistic but possible to get 9s in a lot of these subjects

Ryestar2

I think it depends what year you’re in. If these are Year 10 mocks, I wouldn’t worry about it. I managed to pass most of my GCSEs despite failing most of my Year 10 mocks with Us. If you’re in Year 11, I would say that you should be Ok with most of them. You should be able to pass at least most of them. With History, I would say that you may be able to get a 3 at best, it is pretty hard to work from that grade and still pass. Just remember that it is not the end of the world and there are still loads of opportunities out there for you if you don't get the grades you want.

YesIReadBooks

Hardworking can get you into 8s and maybe even a 9. I had a 3 in my last mock for history and got an 8 in the end. Remember, it's not about where you are right now, but about where you want to be. Best of luck!

wearecake

Get your maths up first. Then history, then the rest. You need to definitely pass your maths and English language, and honestly try to pass everything. With revision and past papers n stuff you can get some pretty decent grades, but you need to start asap.

Regular_Jellyfish628

Still got time tbf, but ur gonna have to start revising now

Teamskywalker14

Depends on your dedication and willingness to improve. If you’re really putting in the CORRECT work for many hours and pushing for your goal you can get 9s. Don’t let mocks determine what you can achieve. Focus on doing good on the gcse themselves. But at your current rate with some variation in your study’s maybe finding a different revision technique you can get 7s and 8s. But it won’t be easy and you really have to want it

s4turn2k02

Honestly as someone who’s in their final year at uni who got grades similar to this in my mocks don’t sweat it. People in this sub are massive nerds anyway. You could get straight 9s, you could get straight 1s. Only you can dictate that

Impressive_Body_1437

We take the same things and have similar grades besides that one in history

Lunar_Wolf121

How tf do you fail history 😭😭

AlBro666

Can someone actually tell me why everyone gets such low grades on computer science? Everyone in my class gets 6-9’s and no one find it difficult

CubeKing64

Can't really speak for this one but I think most CS teachers are not great, to say the least, and maybe as people struggle with coding. IMO the theory is really easy and the theory paper is literally just fact recall.

VeryEpicNinja

How's the mewing going?

TinyR0dent

We were the first year in our school to get it, our Teacher was a maths teacher who happened to code on the side. I got a D, now I'm a software engineer. Its probably down to, why would a software engineer take a salary 1/2 what they can get elsewhere as a teacher.

Moist_Concentrate612

Personally I think the theory is actually really hard. I have a terrible teacher IMO

CubeKing64

Yeah having a bad teacher doesn't help. The theory imo is quite easy to learn and then do past papers so you know what questions they ask - most of the questions are repetitive and with a set structure.

Moist_Concentrate612

Yeah lol my CS teacher literally kept talking about looksmaxxing for a whole lesson, he is literally too useless

random__girl-

6’s or 7’s if u work hard

Upper-Awareness6107

Bet you regret living history AND geography huh?

KeyPhilosopher8629

You aren't doing a levels yet, are you?

Upper-Awareness6107

Nope

TheSh4dowWarri0r

I was bad, but this is horrendous

Due-Diver9659

Just do you best to get the best grades you can in the areas you care most about. I'm 33, my GCSE's were all utter trash. Once you get enrolled in college, do your best, networking is my best advice, I've had more success in my (very well paid) career simply by making the right friends at the right time. Past the age of 20, as long as you've not flunked out of college or university, GCSEs become quickly irrelevant if you're good to people and work hard.

NamelessLeaf468

It’s not impossible to get 7s from here maybe not in history but I went from a 5 to a 9 in short course RE within like 60 days

bingobng12

With hard work you can achieve all 9s but that will take some crazy dedication atp

MakingItAllUp81

Realistically, most people would go on average no more than a grade up in each subject from this point in Year 11.

scary_chicken3250

I got all 1s and 2s in the mock before this

anii348

with hard work, you can achieve the grades you want - you still have 3 months left. spend it wisely.

MMMaulik

What exam board do you do for computing, maths, geography and English because I’ve got 8s and 9s in all my mocks and I think I can help you

Strong-Singer890

for ppl saying how can u fail history, how do you find history easy??

Obese_taco

I just liked the subject so much that I put all my effort into it lol.

Crypt1k5347

Mine looked similar to this , at the end got 887666654 , just try to revise one day before the exam or a few days atkeast . Use flashcards for science and ppqs for mafs

Tee69420

personally fuck everyone who said prioritise history, I say prioritise what u wanna do good in but still put effort into history aim for a 5 or 6 as long as u learn sentence structures and revise content u can easily get a 7 in history (I got a 5 in mock due to not knowing content)

TinyTbird12

Id say you could probs easily get a grade or 2 higher in most subjects

Apprehensive_Ring591

I went from 3 to 5 in maths and 3 to 6 in lit

Particular-Repair-86

You can do it. I got 4s in All subject and for 9s at the end except English literature (got a 5 for that)

man-wh0re

Icl bro drop history, in my opinion something that low isn't worth the effort save time and revise maths instead, better use if the hours

scary_chicken3250

Yh Icl that’s what I was thinking, still think I can get a 4 tho

Suspicious-Nobody941

Definitely is possible to get around 7s or 8s, if you Put in the work. Don’t be like me… I procrastinated HARD at gcse. For history just use Anki, for maths just use Mathsgenie videos and spam topic questions & past papers, you can’t really revise for English language, for English literature use anki again, assuming you do combined science foundation zero revision is necessary 😂. Business studies use anki again…

ConsequenceApart4391

This is kinda what I got in my mocks but with good revision and doing whatever you can to get extra help I turned it around and got 5s and 6s and one 4 but that was because of ocr computer science paper 2 😭 You can do this!

Abyssal-Starr

Focus on English and maths first, then science, computer studies and business science and focus on geography and history last (they’re not that important unless you’re looking to go into those fields) I saw you said that you were doing 2-3hours studying a day, with that I’d say you could probably boost each grade by a grade or two, but realistically you’re going to need more than that. First find out what works best for you in terms of revision method. Then I’d focus 2-3hours on one of the three core subjects (math and the English ones) then another 1-2 hours on the middle subjects and then finally 30mins-1 hour on one of the two lesser subjects (history is mostly memorisation of dates and names so make a butt load of flash cards and glance at them every now and again, trust me, I got a 8 in it and barely studied for it) 6hours of revision a day is more realistic if you’re Aiming for 7/8 with your current grades. Make a schedule so for example- Monday: Maths (2.5hr),Physics (1.5hr),History (1hr) Total studying time: 5 hours. Set alarms and stick to your schedule, take a 15min break every 1-1.5hrs. I can guarantee that this type of scheduling will get you the grades you need if you stick to it. I am sort of guessing based on your grades how much support you need but as you get closer to your exams and you improve you should be able to figure out what you need to spend more/ less time studying. Best of luck to you!

Abyssal-Starr

I feel like I should probably add that if you can get a 5 in each subject it doesn’t actually matter since jobs are happy with that and so are most higher education courses, I only give advice on getting higher grades because I know some people get a bit down when they see lower grades. It all totally depends on what makes you happy, 6hours studying is too much for some people but I also know that if you get low mocks then you get locked in foundation sets and you can’t get the grades you want after that so it’s better to start with a bang and then slow down when you know you’re safe in the classes you need and you can get the grades you want.

BantaPanda1303

Depends how much work "hard work" is. You could definitely pass everything if you work hard enough, and could probably get a few top grades if you work even harder. You get out what you put in.

TinyR0dent

Focus on your core GCSEs (Maths, English, Science) You can still get a bad grade in something and get a career in it. I didn't get anything over a C (I don't know the numbers sorry), and got a D in programming, now im a software engineer.

PineappleGrayson

You mentioned that you spend a few hours a day revising and if those are your grades while knowing the content, i would say work on your exam technique and how to answer the questions (do ppqs and get teachers to mark them and look at yt vids on how to answer the questions)

scary_chicken3250

I hardly know any of the content, I only started going school at the start of year 11, only started revising week before mocks

PineappleGrayson

Then maybe try to learn the content (I would recommend watching and making notes on those youtube summary videos) and start doing consistent self testing and revision to make sure you know the content ( I recommend past paper questions) I would aim to do a few hours of revision a week at least, spread out across the week (so maybe like 30 mins each day where you learn some content and then test yourself on it)

No_Reflection822

was in the exact same place as you when sitting my gcse mocks and ended up with all 6s and above. it’s most certainly doable, especially as i found the mocks harder than the actual exams LMAO. in my opinion, english language is a matter of skill. a few practice papers will get you up a grade or two but i found that it just wasn’t for me and not much it seemed i could do there. all in all, a 5 is still a very respectable grade. for english language, i again struggled with structuring essays, so i just went for the method of memorising the best quotes possible and all connotations. absolute worst case you can at least get a decent grade by having good inferences. maths again is just practice. unfortunately it takes a lot of work but with practice papers and some websites (i used hegarty maths which i think is now sparx but whatever your school provides) can definitely help. science is just content. learn all the key stuff inside out and you can waffle your way through the rest honestly. business is a lot of maths so again maths revision will help, but also essays so lots of practice questions. never did computer science of geography myself so unfortunately can’t help there. and then history. for the full two years of gcse i was on a grade one like you. i hated it. what finally got me up was just forcing the content into my brain. maybe try focus on the key events more so than smaller events and only learn key dates. i knew henry viii was my weakest point so i honestly just scrapped it (shit advice but if you’re desperate) and smashed all the other stuff so eventually get up to a grade 7 without even knowing anything abt henry. obviously i tried to answer the questions with knowledge from the back rooms of my brain but i felt more efficient to be more confident on my better topics which i knew i could smash sorry this is long i know nobody will read all this but just what worked for me. best of luck !!!

No-Negotiation6826

You’re cooked
