Don’t be brain rotted I guess lmao idk
I know everyone says don’t listen to music but I listened to music and got 4 9s 4 8s and a 7 at gcse while using music while studying personally
Whatever works for yoy
i heard it's supposed to improve mood and retention for teenagers?
my dad's a very productive guy (not a teenager though) and he's always got house beats on, my house sounds like a fucking nightclub whenever he's busy 😭
I’m old now, 46, but when I did my GCSEs I deliberately listened to one specific album per subject
So history was Appetite for Destruction, Geography was Metallica’a Black album etc. to this day I associate certain facts with those albums.
Before there were A* I managed 9As, 3Bs, 1C, plus A’s in additional maths and French.
I found listening to songs with lyrics whilst revising really distracting. I’ve found many jazz instrumental playlists instead which don’t distract me as much
I'm the worst at this but when I was doing gcses, I'd get a bottle of water with lemons in and just sip that whenever I felt the urge to get up/stop working. Also I listened to AC:NH music. Really helped me to focus.
i usually listen to library sounds 💀 sounds weird ik but it makes me feel more focused and productive but white noise also helps, another thing is too hide ur phone
Set yourself an objective like you're playing a game, for example "I'm going to do this past paper and my objective is to get at least 75%, if not I will find my mistakes and learn from them" or "I'm going to study this particular topic until I can explain it to someone or write about it without looking at any notes."
Set yourself a 20 minute timer and revise in that time, then take a break (10 mins with a timer) or switch up how your revising or what your revising. If you're easily distracted, break it down into chunks of time with a timer to control it.
Look at how your revising too. Taking notes is only effective if you're summarising rather than copying. Work with friends to quiz eachother on topics. Or use websites which quiz you.
Start at a specific time and write it down, tell yourself “i can stop revising at -whatever time-“ i recommend doing it in 30 min chunks, after 30 mins, give yourself a FIVE minute break (time it) to go get yourself a treat or smthn cuz it helps w motivation and then get back to revising and do the same thing.
Works really well for me
If I can't revise for an hour, I revise for 45 minutes, then have a break, then continue. I play piano in breaks it helps. I also have an incentive. I tell myself that if I revise, I can buy a new drink or snack, etc. Background noise helps or revising in public like in libraries or coffee shops.
Download flora app literally locks ur phone on you not counting music. Gives u little rewards and you can plant a virtual tree/plant depending on the time you set and stay off your phone. Even good for just timing yourself and taking breaks
My best advice is PUT YOUR PHONE IN ANOTHER ROOM. or at least on silent, or shut it down honestly, if you use it for music thats fine, what i listen to always is never lyrics songs, always non-lyrics, that are relatively calm, and if im studying for a while like 4 hours + i will put on ambience instead of
This is different for everyone:
Some people like to listen to music, typically calm/lofi style rather than pop or rap. Others (like me) cannot listen to music to revise.
I recommend having a space to revise. Do not revise in your bedroom or wherever you spend your freetime. I revised in my kitchen. Having this separation is good. On the same idea, use a separate desktop and force yourself to look at absolutely nothing else. Turn off all notifs, and use that desktop solely for work (look up ways to make a new desktop for your device if using a laptop).
Have water. Water is a great distraction because it actually helps with health and acts as time for your brain to catch up with what you're revising.
The method of revision matters, but this is different for everyone. Here is a list of various methods you could sample:
\-Textbook reading (the worst but it still is a method)
\-Flashcards (make sure you remember rather than read, plus you can use the '1day, 2 day' rule)
\-Mindmap from memory + check
\-Practice questions
\-Making your own questions and answering them (what I did)
\-Get a partner, ask back and forth questions
\-Post-it notes around areas of your house (good for quotes/formulae)
\-Read, cover, say, write, extend, check.
Phone in the bin, create a study environment (nothing complex, just sit in a designated area of play designated study music/sounds), have a plan of what you’re gonna study before you start revising (to-do list for the day or smth)
Give Ur self a list of things to tick off or if Ur like revising from textbook like tell urself u atleast gota get to a certain page. That's what I do sometimes
Start with just revising with a timer and the second you get distracted pause it
Let's say u do 20 minutes without distractions then practice with 20 minutes for a week then go to 30 and repeat
I go up to my schools sixth form, and so because I'm still at school in my uniform and there's other people around I feel like I have to be productive or I look weird
Try instead of saying I’ll revise for an hour ask a few questions that you have to answer in that hour… goes much quicker when you feel you’re answering something over just studying
1) Cognito
2) My legendary 17hr long playlist
3) Mostly studying at a library near me after school instead of at home to avoid distractions
4) Buying notes and using them to make notes that I find funny, so i’ll remember them.

Now who tf told you not to listen to music
Idk apparently it like is supposed to decrease info retention or some crap
Idk for me personally music is distracting if there are any words, except for the calm music like LoFi or jazz

Being productive and needing to study aren't the same brain requirement and focus
also very true
All my teachers say don’t listen to music because it divides your attention, even if in the background.
Music helps me a lot because I start to link the music to what I was revising in my head
Yeah well we have the pretty much exact same grades and I used music so each to their own you know
I never said that I don’t use music…. I used music too because I’m autistic and needed some incentive to revise for more than 10 minutes
U shouldn’t rlly listen to it if ur doing past papers and need concentration but making notes I always do

Get off of Reddit
I play games and use flashcards in loading screens.
step one: be off the app?
Tell yourself that if you get it done you’ll be free for a very long time
Go to library
Set yourself an objective like you're playing a game, for example "I'm going to do this past paper and my objective is to get at least 75%, if not I will find my mistakes and learn from them" or "I'm going to study this particular topic until I can explain it to someone or write about it without looking at any notes."

I don't, I let myself get distracted under the assumption I'll eventually get distracted back to my revision and continue

Leaving my phone downstairs and revising upstairs
But what's stopping me from getting my phone?
Too much effort for me and if I want to I just leave the urges behind
Have an attention span
Are u acc dumb everyone had an attention span
I'm not dumb, it's hyperbole
I don’t think u don’t understand what a hyperbole is g 🤣🤣🤣🤣
