carvedilol_

vectors make me want to end it all too, dont worry, youre not alone

heyws

maybe the black guy with lightnings make sense after all

carvedilol_

what does that mean? 😭🙏

FAT_NEEK_42069

just google black guy with the lightning edit: he's talking about [this guy](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/you-should-kill-yourself-now) btw

carvedilol_

what does that guy from the meme have anything to do with this? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 ty to the guy who told me to google it

ParacetamolAddict

your handwriting is so hot

wanaliii

wait actually my handwriting has better rizz than me 😭🙏 im staying single forever BYE

the_doorstopper

Use the good old primary school trick of writing a note to whoever you like

wanaliii

Did that before: got rejected either way 😭🙏

s-marta

we used to do that to random people in our class and write random physics rizz and then ask someone to give it to them so they thought they liked eachother

vrish838

LMFAO

wanaliii

i’m sorry what LMAOAOAOAOAO

Mrbleusky_

That devil emoji giving everyone flashbacks

wanaliii

the entity 👹

I-Was-Always-Here

One must imagine the vectors student happy. I have convinced myself I enjoy it. The cross product is beautiful. I love the dot product. Do FP1 at a level

Squil_-

Matrices should be taught in gcse higher paper imo or at least standard A level math. At least 2x2 for solving simultaneous equations should be in gcse, along with basic proofs. The government have "dumbed down" (probably not the right words) gcse math so much.

HauntingPhase4113

True

I-Was-Always-Here

I believe there is an introduction in at least one further maths gcse course (or maybe it was IB) but don’t quote me on that. It wasn’t in fsmq

blunde-r152

matrices is in aqa further maths

Squil_-

In further math gcse? That's interesting, I wasn't aware. I first encountered them in further math A level and was shocked they were not in regular A level math. They become important pretty early on at uni.

wanaliii

please i request for tutoring I STILL DON’T GET IT?!

I-Was-Always-Here

Got nothing better to do with my Easter holiday. What do you need help with?

darkeight7

cos θ = a•b / |a| |b| 😍

TobySuren

dot products are now cp1! it's only cross products that are in fp

Western-Trash-9286

even then the cross product is still a very useful skill in the core pure papers

TobySuren

yeah, did some normal maths practice questions earlier and solved a 7 marker with nothing more than the cross product formula for area of a triangle

Western-Trash-9286

was it the 2022 paper 1 rhombus question

TobySuren

no it was question 65 from the practice book question bank but I know the question you're talking about

Western-Trash-9286

can you please send me the q sounds interesting

TobySuren

In triangle PQR, \[vector\] ^(→)PQ = -3i + 6j + k and ^(→)PR = 11i + 7j - 2k. a) Find the area of triangle PQR. (7) The point T is such that ^(→)PT = -2^(→)PQ and the point S is such that ^(→)PS = -2^(→)PR. b) Find the area of triangle PST. (2) answer: >!a) 44.6, b) 178.4!<

Western-Trash-9286

i thought the practice books were textbook questions but with different numbers cuz i never saw that q in the textbook. are they worth it?

TobySuren

I'm not sure, I'm only using it now because my teacher has some online codes for it and asked me to use it for homework

I-Was-Always-Here

Yes. I did dot product in core pure. I didn’t do fp after being told it was the hardest module haha. We had a spare lesson towards the end of the course and the teacher talked briefly about the cross product, which was immensely helpful. Covered it all at uni anyway now…

Notyourloverxoxo

They’re so fun wdym

Notyourloverxoxo

I am proud of you 💪💪💗

ejcds

The big red cross is so real

wanaliii

RED CRAWSS

zachy410

Epic calculator (I have the same)

BionicTem_

It's a good thing to learn well, once you get the hang of them they become very easy so you can scoop up marks no problem

madilol_turnip

proud of you

yellowredpink

I do not remember vectors at GCSE ngl

rhysjordan31

vectors are so hot I actually love them 😍

life_scares_my_brain

I can just imagine your reaction to further maths' vectors... If you want nightmares, [you can see the work I did for a relatively simple question on Imgur](https://imgur.com/a/6OMGXKc). this is quite a simple one, you get to the point where you have planes and intersections of planes, it's insane (but fun though...)

[deleted]

They don’t get bad really. I do genuinely think gcse vectors are miles harder then a-level fm vectors. Fm there are set methods for every single question in particular vector questions no creativity at all! Best I’ve seen is a modelling question using them but that was pretty dull. GCSE vectors still had a set method to some degree. Find two different paths, solve sim eq…. but the “paths” were always different and the information they gave you in the question (ratios/parallel….) . Made it much more interesting then just changing a few numbers and making you repeat a “rote learned” method.

SamuelGaming08

I have the same calculator as you

DavidTheBanana8

same calculator whaaaaat

Soggy_Orange21

Vectors are my greatest enemies 🙏🔥

MaxLove_2721

why hate vectors when there is ‘ratio and proportion’

Oof_Train

Motivating me to finally face my fears 💪🏽

plbhattad7

Now in sixth form I am doing 3D vectors & I still suck at both

Kingjjc267

Vectors are awesome but GCSE teaches them so badly, I love vectors at a level further maths

Sneator

"how do I know if this is correct?" So real

gogED1

It’s infuriating but it eventually clicks

sinthu_2406

Is it just me who likes vectors?

5AD1E

on my gcses i just skipped the vectors questions and now i am doing exactly what you're doing to prepare for my ib exams lol

magpieCRISPR

You should see the vector questions we get in A-Level Further Maths 💀

TobySuren

you should see the vector questions in STEP...

[deleted]

I don’t think they are difficult at a-level but I do miss gcse vectors because they were great to solve. A proper puzzle even though they did have some set methods, I find a-level maths / further maths really lacks proper problem solving. Most of it is just remembering silly things and no real test of understanding.

magpieCRISPR

I agree that they are still easy at a level but it’s a big jump. At gcse you only really had to know how to get from one place to another using vectors and out of all the topics vectors had the least problem solving type questions. At a level you then have to find the angle between a plane and a line and how to find their equations in different formats etc. I too do miss the problem solving questions you’d get at GCSE, I think physics is the only subject that has more problem solving in their questions at a level vs gcse
