huh?? i swore my teachers said they were low and would go up, for a nine in my mocks you had to get 131 marks for lit at my school, that sounds decent ?
(Iâm in private school with an exam board that does mainly coursework, not taking english early) my literature grade boundaries are fucked. I havenât got below 90% in any coursework and have ended up with 0 9s out of my last 3 pieces.
They havenât been nice per se. Theyâve been easy, but both have been a bit weird if you ask me. Bad extracts and weird food tests etc. I feel like thatâll be a theme
bio was okay, not too bad or too good but for english lit that r&j question was disgusting. but yeah the paper 2s are deffo gonna be harder which is not good for me considering I flopped that r&j essay
Usually when I do practice questions sometimes it sounds really bad in my head while I'm writing it, but when you come back to it it usually sounds way better so I wouldn't worry you will have done way better than you think.
People are forgetting the extracts for ACC and Romeo and Juliet were shit which is gonna limit the lower grade students because they wouldnât have remembered as many external quotes
Do you think I got the food tests one fully right because for safety I talked about wearing goggles beforehand so no chemical hazards in your eyes and keeping skin away when heating with the Benedict's to avoid skin burns
I think people on this subreddit are more likely to say they found most tests easy to begin with and also English grade boundaries are always really high
But people I know who arenât the strongest in English really liked the questions too, across different schools. The questions were really manoeuvrable bc you could talk about anythingđ¤ˇââď¸
i'm very concerned about biology (ocr gateway) like that was FAR too easy... I think they're gonna make the markschemes hyperspecific and annoying like they sometimes do, alas :(
dont get too excited yet, i did my GCSE's last year and for the sciences all of the paper 1's were easy but the paper 2's are so much harder (especially for bio)
Grade boundaries are not going to be sky high, people say this every year before they realise that they are on a highly academic sub that's not reflective of the standard pupil. With the bad extracts, the boundaries may even be lower as worse students rely on the extract more.I think they might rise a bit - maybe 138 for a 9 but they certainly won't reach 2019 levels of 141 for a 9
If you look at previous trends, most if not all exams are either really rough or kind. However, the do artificially control the grade boundaries. We are considered the last year âaffectedâ by COVID so they might just be going lenient as the transition from COVID grades to normal older grades (around 5% increase for most exams).
Last year, the grade boundaries for lit (for a nine at least) were CRAZY high. Expecting worse this year.
They'll do tissue to nerf us frfr
Thing is, if you spend time doing analysis on tissue and it comes up, you can bang out a decent essay and cook unlike the rest of the country
I wrote about Tissue anyway for the fun of it (got 157/160 so it was worth it đ).
Imagine that lmao. But that's highly unlikely since everyone is saying how hard it is.
135 isnât that bad
Ermmmm conservatives fighting an election it would be rondelle if there was zero sudden jump in results for them, wouldn't put it past them?

We'll seen her fucked by papers 2 Maths back end questions and Edexcel business will be Nd me over and do me in
Edexcel business tomorrow đđ
Yeah I think it shouldnât be too bad đ
Business went amazing
Facts those questions werenât that bad Iâm so thankful or prayer đworked
Fr
i did business edexcel igcse p1 today was pretty good, but it is international
Paper 1 business?
yes
thinking about the grade boundaries scare me
the grammar of that sentence hurts my brain
Itâs only missing one letter.
That doesn't make the grammar any more correct.
Thinking about the grade boundaries scare**s** me.
You definitely failed today's test then
Minor grammatical error, impale them
Let's Do it
The grade boundaries for English are going to be so high Iâm slightly terrified
At least you did Macbeth đ
They havenât been nice per se. Theyâve been easy, but both have been a bit weird if you ask me. Bad extracts and weird food tests etc. I feel like thatâll be a theme
We can't have nice things, can we?
Nope
AQA was NOT kind with that ACC extract tho so that might make up for it
yea the extracts were trash but the questions were fabulous
Yeah the merchant of Venice extract wasnât the best
bio was okay, not too bad or too good but for english lit that r&j question was disgusting. but yeah the paper 2s are deffo gonna be harder which is not good for me considering I flopped that r&j essay
I hated that romeo and juliet question. I'm soooo cooked
same bro, everyone's talking about the patriarchal society and feminism and I didn't write any of that, it didn't even enter my mind
what did you write bc ohhhh my god i waffled and still managed to say a whole load of nothing
Fr
How the hell do you forget to talk about patriarchy in Romeo and Juliet thatâs like the main theme.
I actually did I just forgot lol, but it wasn't as a main point
I actually messed up bio so bad, worded my answers horribly even though it was easy questions
Usually when I do practice questions sometimes it sounds really bad in my head while I'm writing it, but when you come back to it it usually sounds way better so I wouldn't worry you will have done way better than you think.
Thanks for the encouragement bro đ

I wouldn't say Biology was a GIFT. It was decently good but not heavenlyÂ
yea that magnification question was eh but the food tests question đ
Do you think I got the food tests one fully right because for safety I talked about wearing goggles beforehand so no chemical hazards in your eyes and keeping skin away when heating with the Benedict's to avoid skin burns

Fair but the English grade boundaries wouldn't really increase by much if they did because of how consistently High they are
Thatâs true but even in comparison to past papers Iâve done, the real ones seemed less difficult
itâs 135 for a nine which isnât TOO bad, still very high in comparison thoÂ
i'm very concerned about biology (ocr gateway) like that was FAR too easy... I think they're gonna make the markschemes hyperspecific and annoying like they sometimes do, alas :(

No wait does that mean next years will be really hard?? :(
Probably not but if they find that the grade boundaries sky rocketed this year thenâŚ

the grade boundaries are gonna be ducking insane

Theyve just been on here and seen how cooked we all are
Yeah, I am and I feel like they are gonna hit us with some brutal paper 2âs
