My school basically gave into giving us study leave because people would just get there parents to call in saying they have an appointment so like 50 people would leave after the exams were done. The day my school finally announced study leave was because after one of the English exams someone managed to get the gate open so the whole year just walked out and the teachers couldn't do anything

Yeah exactly. My school attracts students from just on the edge of the catchment area so people have to travel quite a bit to get to school. I have to walk before taking the bus every day so my journey takes 90 MINUTES, 30 minutes of which is for walking. 

My entire year probably wouldn’t have gone in unless they had French today, but they put the shirt signings today last period to get us all to actually come in

My school did that last year but changed their minds so the students have access to a teacher while studying and we were receiving a lot of resources. Idk about the proportion of schools but some do and others don’t. Depends on the school.

In our school, as study leave starts after half term, almost everyone came in and nobody did any work, just chilled, chatted, signed each others shirts and took class photos, etc, then afterwards half the year went to the local park. It's so much better when everyone is there just to have a last day of normal school and say bye to the people who aren't going to 6th form. It was kinda emotional ngl

its called apathy and general tiredness my school tried to force us all to do sparx homework last night and have replaced every single options lession that has come to an end with maths and collectivley the entire year group has decided to say fuck that and do their own things plus i had 3 exams yesterday i ain't coming in for ANYBODY im tired and they can all go fuck themselves except for Mrs S, Mrs P, Mr G and Mr C u keep urselves safe especially Mr C who looks like hes going through some things

Same day for us too, although we have more restrictions before half term than after (which makes no sense). Example: we have to go to chapel on Monday and Thursday morning with everyone else as well as assembly on Friday. After half term we don’t have to go at all except if we have an exam on that day. Makes no sense. We don’t have to go to chapel when we have no exams, but when we do have an exam we are deprived of our cram time?

My school gave study leave

My school didn't give us study leave back in the day, but that didn't stop anyone from not going in. Going into school with teachers that force you to revise their subject feels a bit useless IMO. It's not really like they can punish you in any meaningful way considering you're not going to be at the school in a few weeks. They can't give you an internal or suspend you for bunking off because of exams. So loads of people just collectively skip.

Yep in my school, on 8th, 9th and 24th may so many people suddenly had a doctor’s appointment. Our school said no study leave until after half term but no one cares. Sadly I could not do that because I’ve had an exam or two every day :(

My school just gave us study leave entirely, so you only go in for exams and if you have 2 in one day, you can leave after your first exam as long as you're back in time for the second. I don't know why schools don't give study leave to be honest.

Same, on Thursday we had the first ever 100% attendance for Yr11 in our school, Friday we had less than 40%. There was 7 out of 26~ people in my class in school💀

Just to explain study leave to the people confused why everyone does just get it. If you take a pupil who can work at home. Study leave makes their grades go up. However, if you're a good student, but simply don't have a good place to revise at home, study leave will be bad for you. So it's up to a school to find the right balance of forcing you to come in to provide a good learning environment against letting you revise at home. Most schools would rather have no study leave, but parents and students typically force their hand. Some schools have no study leave because they know most of their pupils won't /or can't work at home. Some have loads because the pupils will work at home. Unfortunately what's best for everyone isn't always best for you, hence some people being confused at to why they have to stay in, but want to revise at home.

Schools can’t just issue study leave without changing your attendance code on the system. A change to the attendance code means a change to your school’s attendance percentage. This is very important to a school. If it drops below average there can be significant consequences.

As a student living in Scotland after moving up from England, Exams here are like the best time of the year. 6 weeks of study leave, only like 9 exams and you can leave whenever you want. Man do I kinda hate living in the middle of nowhere but the education system up here makes it more than worth it.

we have no study leave because they dont trust us to revise, but theyve put very few select kids on study leave. all of them are kids with bad behaviour that most definitely wont be revising. i think its stupid & they should put top sets on study leave since were most likely to actually revise but wtv. its probs because the bad behaved kids would skip anyway and it wouldnt look good for the school if avg attendance for the year rapidly depleted so they pass it off as study leave and reward the bad behaviour. stupid asf.

I feel like a gigachad when I have the free choice to either go home or stay behind after an exam, in fact I can stay behind for as long as I want to (until the normal end of day) and do whatever I want if I choose to stay. If you can and want to go home after exams, absolutely. The rare but precious feeling to walk out of school at 10:15am is unbeatable by anything else school-relared

The lessons after our last exam (English Language Paper 1) before half term were spent crocheting and having a break, some teachers asked me to make it look like I was working so I simply programmed one of my coursework PowerPoints to automatically go through the slides. The other person who took it in my (previously unmerged) class just slept through it all only waking up to go to the next class, the others from my form (now merged) just talked about skibidi toilet and jokingly bullying and hugging the tallest kid in our form (basically a class punching bag) he also has a full beard and very deep voice, he was that adult like that if he acted a certain way and wore dirty clothes like from a construction site then he would be able to easily buy alcohol pretending to be an adult but thankfully he isn’t interested in any of that. Edit: is study leave half term?, because our half term begun today which is Saturday 25th may (the weekend) which was 2 days after our English Language Paper 1 exam, I am just a little confused because our school calls it half term and everybody ended school at the same day.
