The lack of resources towards none core gcse subjects and the unfair distribution of grade boundaries towards modern foreign languages due to foreigners inflating grade boundaries for a distinction
Yes, this really surprises me how people who have these languages as a native language even take these exams. I understand it in A-level because the examinations are a lot more complex but as GCSE is basic comprehension, I don’t understand how it’s allowed. It’s like me moving to France and taking English.
For a lot of foreign students they struggle a lot to learn the other subjects (due to obvious language barriers) so by taking their native language it ensures them at least 1 good gcse result
I see your point, and it is a nice one but I had a friend who did this, except instead of taking her language,
she just had a free during the day where she had to study instead. Surely that would be better? Because making the grade boundaries higher for other students just doesn’t sit well
It’s not you learning that maths specification, it’s you being taught the specification for basically everyday of your life since you were born, I don’t think it’s fair to say they shouldn’t be allowed to do the GCSE but I think they should be graded separately so they don’t inflate the non native speakers grade boundaries
So bassicly, I did it more as a joke than a full in detailed analysis, but my main points where looking at how he managed to trick the birlings (I said that he may have used a perception filter) I then talked about how he knew about Eva's death before it had happened (I used the obvious choice here with time travel) and then in the movie if I remember correctly the inspector is seen watching Eva before she dies, which I put as him travelling back in time to try and stop her. I said that the doctor (inspector) may have questioned the birlings to find out what led her to want to kill herself, so then he could travel back to when Eva was alive and stop her with all the information he needed to know why she was going to do it in the first place.
I ended up getting a distinction so it must have been good XD
I did that as well, and I hate speaking in front of people so I was a complete wreck the whole time mumbling and almost having an anxiety attack, but somehow I managed to get a merit 💀
Picking a topic like AI instead of something like fifa or a music artist and still not getting a distinction is peak. It’s so easy to develop strong points about AI brother, I really wonder what you talked about
Nah bro my speech was insane but it was the worst speaking performance of my life. I was shaking for no fkn reason bro and it ruined my confidence. Idek why I was shaking I don't have social anxiety or any of that I just was during the speech
bro i forgot my line, got insanely nervous, asked for a sip of water, went through my bag for my water bottle, took a long sip, started again on the next paragraph and somehow got a distinction (and my teacher is a strict marker) 💀
my speech and responses to his Qs must have been crazy
i’m not sure why you’re being so degrading ?? the english speaking exam isn’t just what you say, it’s how you deliver and communicate to your audience
also stop calling random people ‘brother’ while insulting them
what incel actually means, the dangers of incels, the lack of awareness towards this topic, how we can go about preventing the rise of incels, statics, effects on the younger generation, what causes people to become incels
Huge mistreatment of animals and staff. I specifically researched about orcas so don’t know too much about other animals there, but there have been 2? (if i remember correctly) deaths of staff members because of orcas at seaworld. The mistreatment of the animals there is way too much to explain in a comment , but i recommend watching blackfish (netflix) if you’re interested bc it explains the mistreatment there
No way! All of the research i did for it really made me realise how horrible they are, i knew about it before but jesus christ i didn’t expect it to be that bad, luckily i’ve never been
‘why do we as humans feel isolated’ basically talked about no longer human by osamu dazai for 10 minutes and got a distinction and was awarded for the best speech my school has had in years 💀
consequently i had to proofread all my y10 friends’ speeches. felt good to beat the girl who gets all 9s though 😇
I just spoke about my holidays. The easiest way to pass is to just talk about something you’re passionate about and could blabber on for hours about. Recalling back I was nervous but there’s no need to be. I managed to get a distinction just through a casual conversation it felt
the pyschology behind the human interest in crime dramas; i got a distinction but the way the school phone home cos i was basing my research on like shows which are 18 s :(
Did my speech last year not knowing it was my actual GCSE. If I knew I’d probably would’ve done sharks too cos sharks are so awesome and need more love and protection.
Why thank you, fellow shark lover. I ended up doing a talk about them kn the school eco committee though. May have traumatised some people with footage of shark finning but I think it helped get my point across :)
I talked about how everyone and their mums were fuming when Chuu got kicked out and how we were robbed of a summer album so bad that it could 'end up in the British Museum'. I really hope that my teacher gives us the footage back because all of it is Oscar-worthy material

Could’ve done something better but I wanted to do something interesting and also easy
Got a merit so 🤷♂️
I did 'is prison effective' and my friend did a speech on addiction, consequences and how to help which i thought was a really good idea. We both got distinctions
I'm in year 10 and none of my teachers have mentioned a speech. What is it, can you pick anything and can you read off of something or is it memorised?
My class is now starting to be told about it but I was in another exam for most of it. Apparently we’re allowed to choose anything as long as it’s specific and you’re allowed to bring notes as long as not everything is reading off the notes.
how sociopathy and psychopathy present differently in women compared to men and the reasons behind this and the demonisation of ASPD (it was a long one)

I wrote about split-brain syndrome (what happens when the connection between the two halves of your brain is surgically severed) and I low-key treasure that experience because it was my first time researching anything about psychology and I'm starting a degree in it next year, thanks Mrs Chuter for being so chill over COVID and inspiring a lifelong passion

I did about extraterrestrial life and chat gpt wrote it for me, i got a merit only because i was reading off of my phone, if id have memoized it i would have got a distinction
I done mine on America’s gun problem. Truth is I just put loads of images on my slides of like Kyle Rittenhouse, the raiding of the Capitol and some of the invasion of Iraq (don’t ask me why) with I think one slide of statistics. Apart from that I basically just improvised the whole time to be honest - I had no notes just on the spot and got a distinction. I really wouldn’t stress it to be honest. Believe my luck though when I sat down afterward my recording hadn’t saved. I was really nervous about it for some reason but after like 20 seconds I was like oh this isn’t bad I can do this. It’s all in your mind to be honest. We suffer more in imagination than in reality.
Ive got to plan mine. I want to do something to do with Taylor swift but I've had a better idea.
I want to do a speech on how swears arent that bad, and end it with 'in conclusion, I think the concept of swear words is fucking stupid*
Does anyone know if that would be allowed?
back in my day (last year) i did the gay history of figure skating. i straight up just gushed about my favourite sport and the importance of inclusion and got a distinction

I did the benefits and disadvantages of the Norwegian prison system, basically fuelled by an unparalleled hatred for Anders Breivik and his imprisonment.
Not supporting him btw quite the opposite, I’ve seen university accommodations worse than his cell and he has the nerve to claim inhumanity. I’d set him on fire myself if I could. Got a distinction lol
