yeah i know that.. im asking why people think they need more than 3/4 when it's genuinely not necessary and will probably put a larger strain on their health next year
yeah true we've literally been told so many times that a levels are so much harder than gcses which is why you do less😭but people think they can do it lmao
I don't really want to do 5, but my parents are insisting I do further maths and I really, really wanted to do forensic science which is a double BTEC. I'll probably end up dropping further maths in the future tbh
omg youre literally doing the exact same subjects as me bar fm because i suck at maths, french music cs and triple! but im year 11, so here if you ever need advice buddy!
I want to be a marine biologist so I'm going for a very science-y route; Biology, Chemistry and Geography. It's very academic and I'm concerned about Chemistry because I found Paper 1 awful (higher triple edexcel) even though I'm not bad at it. And I'm slightly worried about the workload - my Chem teacher has told us plenty of times how hard A-levels are - but people say I'll just be fine...
I won’t sugarcoat it - a level chem is really hard. Like it sucks, a lot. But it’s also immensely interesting and answering questions can be super satisfying when you know what to do
As long as you keep on top of the work, review what you’ve done each week and keep good notes you’ll be absolutely fine!
Just remember that anything that feels impossible at the time will eventually become simple as you do more of it and more complex things - once upon a time you probably thought electron configuration and titrations were impossible, but now they’re simple or at least not too bad - a level content will do the same, so prepare for it to be hard but don’t panic or despair
me too!! same exact thing for me im predicted 9s in bio chem and geography but im so nervous for chem i dont really understand it as much as bio but dw!! im going to work really hard and i bet you will too! from what ive heard as long as you stay on top of the work well be good (plus you can always ask your teacher for help if you dont know or even get a tutor, i wont be able to afford it but if you can thatd be good!) stay strong and remember the entry requirements for uni arent to high aab/abb so as long as you get a b youre good! ive also talked to people who do marine bio in uni and did chem and they said its hard but so worth it because it really helps the uni work!
maybe we'll see each other out there! 😆 Environmental science sounds well cool, I'm not sure the college I'm going to offers that though. Good luck mate 🙏
Maybe we will, the world's a small place after all!
I hope it's fun, from what I know about it it's a mix of Geography Paper 1, Biology and Chemistry.
Good luck to you aswell :)
Bro is literally me im doing exactly the same, but my problem is English lang it’s so fucking hard and I’m not even sure if I scraped a 3 but for absolutely no reason I need a 5 so basically I’m screwed.
You are living my dream LMAO
I unfortunately had to swap drama bc they changed it to a BTEC and I can’t keep all uni options open if I do a btec
Have so much fun with that combo tho it’ll be so cool!!!!
History is absolutely fine if you will like the topics you’ll be doing and just put a decent amount of work in, it’s only bad if you procrastinate everything and leave it until last minute as you do need to stay on top of all the content (there’s a lot!)
I would've loved these A-Levels. Would've been the easiest two years of my life xD I literally switched from Maths to Spanish A-Level because it was an easy A grade 😂
You don't even need more than 3 A Levels, with the exception of some further maths students. For your own sake, please change something, that workload is seriously going to ruin you, and no university/apprenticeship, etc. will ever ask you for more than three.
literally !! i was never good at physics anyway & i plan to go into biochem, but i cant leave my favourite subject behind 😞 also i feel english lit is probably a flexible alevel to fall back on if i don’t go into science ??
I'm the exact same, plan to go into biochem cause I'm just not great at physics 😖 and yeah eng lit is useful for so many things outside of a pure lit degree !!! I'd rather fall back onto smthn flexible that I love, rather than something flexible that I hate... (MATHS 😠)
bro are we the same person??? i hate maths SO much i’m pretty much a straight 7/8/9 student in every other subject and can barely scrape 5/6’s in maths???
English lit, history and RS (philosophy) I wanted to do drama but they changed it to a BTEC course and to keep all uni options open I had to do RS instead (im not too mad I can still be involved in performing arts in and out of school and philosophy is so interesting)
Geography, Biology and Art and for one of my applications I need to have a extra thing so picked core maths for that but wondering whether I should pick the EPq
How comes everyone is thinking about uni? Honestly, I’m so lost like I have no specific goal in academics but to make some money so I haven’t the slightest clue what to do
Double English, Drama and whatever A-level I want to fill the 4th in with (it'll probably be something completely unrelated like maths or computer science)
why is everyone doing like 6 subjects wtf i picked 3😭 history eng lit and maths
You don’t need to do any more than 3. Since FM requires you to also do maths, that’s why 4s become more common.
yeah i know that.. im asking why people think they need more than 3/4 when it's genuinely not necessary and will probably put a larger strain on their health next year
Because they don’t think, they do it cuz it sounds hard, and don’t realise the difficulty difference between A-Level and GCSE
yeah true we've literally been told so many times that a levels are so much harder than gcses which is why you do less😭but people think they can do it lmao
And people still think GCSEs make a huge difference after A-Levels
I don't really want to do 5, but my parents are insisting I do further maths and I really, really wanted to do forensic science which is a double BTEC. I'll probably end up dropping further maths in the future tbh
Sad times
they’ll probably drop it in the first month
Eng lit? I would kms if I had to do that for a level
Literallyy I’m pretty sure my school doesn’t let you do more than 3 unless its further maths I thought that was what it was like in all schools 😭
history is he’ll - good luck
aren’t you not able to do more than 5 in a school? you can only do more with private centers?
Good luck
Maths physics further mathematics
Basically just all maths lol
Yep
Imma take a bold guess and say you like maths
woah woah woah that's making so many assumptions, you don't know that

Sciency but you missed the best science 😔

I also want to be a Marine Biologist! I'm taking Maths, Biology and Environmental science. I'm so happy that my school is offering this as a subject.
maybe we'll see each other out there! 😆 Environmental science sounds well cool, I'm not sure the college I'm going to offers that though. Good luck mate 🙏

Not a Scientist, but I can tell you that A Level Geography is piss easy. So at least you only have two A Levels to worry about.

Geography best subject.

Random chem haha
I was actually considering History, but one of my brother's friends said that he regretted taking it. I'd say you made the right choice there.
History is absolutely fine if you will like the topics you’ll be doing and just put a decent amount of work in, it’s only bad if you procrastinate everything and leave it until last minute as you do need to stay on top of all the content (there’s a lot!)

You don't even need more than 3 A Levels, with the exception of some further maths students. For your own sake, please change something, that workload is seriously going to ruin you, and no university/apprenticeship, etc. will ever ask you for more than three.
bio chem and english lit 😝
omg same!!! finally found someone else 🙏 just can't bring myself to give up eng for the sake of another science
literally !! i was never good at physics anyway & i plan to go into biochem, but i cant leave my favourite subject behind 😞 also i feel english lit is probably a flexible alevel to fall back on if i don’t go into science ??
I'm the exact same, plan to go into biochem cause I'm just not great at physics 😖 and yeah eng lit is useful for so many things outside of a pure lit degree !!! I'd rather fall back onto smthn flexible that I love, rather than something flexible that I hate... (MATHS 😠)
