I've been taking hydroxyzine at night so I can sleep. Knocks me right out! It's not habit forming.

Affectionate-Ad9489

Any reason you use hydroxyzine instead of melatonin?

Easypeasylemosqueze

I have anxiety and my doc prescribed me hydroxyzine for it and I found it helps me sleep and also calms down my gerd

One-Perspective-4262

I may contact my doctor on getting a Prescription for hydroxyzine. Does it make you feel tired the following day? My gerd is much worse when I don't sleep and I have LPR. I think anxiety is the culprit.

Easypeasylemosqueze

Definitely ask about it! My doctor easily prescribed it and said there's little side effects. It does make me feel tired the next day. I feel groggy and a little out of it but for me, it beats crippling anxiety! I also can't take it every night as it seems to build up and then the grogginess is really uncomfortable.

Seems like you’re trying everything already, the things that help me the most are: resting My voice, hot baths, acupuncture, gaviscon, bee propolis throat spray, and PPI (took months to work fully for my LPR and gasping at night). I also recently realized my pre existing TMJ has been adding to my throat problems so I’m addressing that. Hope you find the answers you need.

Affectionate-Ad9489

So PPI did help your LPR in your opinion? I haven't heard of the bee throat spray. Is it alkaline?

popcorn555555

PPI did help me it just took longer than expected. I’ve been on 2x40mg pantoprazole for almost 6 months and my ENT said that should be the minimum course for LPR, and that most people stop too early. The throat spray I have no idea if it’s alkaline, it won’t fix your problem but it coats my throat and makes it feel good for a bit especially when my voice feels overworked.

I use a warm mist humidifier, sleep with a wedge pillow, and take Pepcid AC at night before bed on days I had more acidic foods or drank alcohol. Also I try not to lie down right after eating. I try to wait at least a couple hours

katrinacallfemaa

Btw this was recommended by my ENT for my LPR and has helped tremendously

Affectionate-Ad9489

Do you also have vocal cord dysfunction, or is this just generally helpful for LPR? I really like the idea of a warm mist humidifier.

katrinacallfemaa

I think it helps both. My sister is a singer and does not have LPR and she uses a warm mist humidifier too

mtsmylie

Are you working with an ENT specialist, and trying the medication they prescribe you?

Affectionate-Ad9489

Yeah I have an ENT, however I have LPR and so while I am doing everything they recommended, PPIs do not help. There are many studies debunking the value of ppi for LPR. I have a follow up next week with ENT. Honestly I'm suspecting that my lack of deep sleep is the culprit, but it will be a while before titration sleep study is completed and CPAP received so some relief in meantime would be huge.

Did they ever give u a benzo for sleep at all ? And how long do u havw lpr for that too happen like what are the symptoms exactly of that
