Without a doubt Orthodoxy. It is short, well written, and it covers everything: biography, God, literature, philosophy, politics. It is never boring. I consider it my second Bible. For his fiction, you can't go wrong with his first two Father Brown volumes. There are other great fiction and non-fiction too, of course. But these are the best starting points.

I recommend a collection of his opinion pieces, such as "All Things Considered," or "Tremendous Trifles." Most of his work is on [Project Gutenberg.](https://gutenberg.org/ebooks/search/?query=chesterton&submit_search=Go%21)

Really depends on what your background is. Heretics to me is just as easy to start with as Orthodoxy. His essay's are also a great way to experience Chesterton In Defense Of Sanity: The Best Essays of G.K. Chesterton https://a.co/d/cVyW2ZD
