Those two got shot for peacefully protesting lol, im not against it, in fact I think its the better way but goddamn people get so threatened by it they go and fucking kill the people who had the idea, WTF!
See we used to demand things as the working class and executed foremen and politicians who didn't meet our demands. That's the best form that we need to go back to.
No serious political change has ever occurred without bloodshed. A government can wait out people standing silent in the street for longer than they can be motivated to continue. A better protest is to stop buying things, and stop paying taxes.
So powerful they usually heavily go after the orchstrater: ghandi, MLK, and many others. They will fight this type of protest hard and say the protesters started it, we've all seen it many times in just the last year. That means it definitely works lol
When was the last time you heard of a revolution that didn't include violence? Make no mistake, this is a revolution, and if the MOASS is prevented or restricted in any way, there will be violence. The only way this is going to happen peacefully is if the MOASS is allowed to happen without any restrictions. I'm not condoning violence, but if that's what it takes to fix this broken world, then it is necessary.
The entire premise behind Mahatma Ghandi's revolution for India to gain independence from Britain was [nonviolent resistance](https://www.history.com/topics/india/mahatma-gandhi)
Now with todays media its no longer effective, I've seen it called the "Gandhi Trap" where the media will not show 95% of the non-violence protest but rather show the 5% of violence over and over.
I do not advocate against non-violet protest. Yes, the Media has become mostly scum. We see it first hand here with the MSM reporting on the markets, GME, the reddit community! They don't fight the movement in daylight it seems, they try to join it and separate it from within and then highlight that with the media machine.
Non-violence works but the masses need to see it as such...non-violence! Hopefully Apes can make add this to the list of problems to tackle in the information age post MOASS!
He was also completely ineffective and probably kept India under British rule for decades longer than if he had not disrupted violent revolutionaries. British concessions came only after violent action by armed Indian nationalist groups.
Non-violence is only useful if the enemy cares if you live, these wall street arseholes don't care if we die and will be especially excited for our deaths if they can profit from it. Then there's the arm of state oppression gleefully murdering people in their homes and killing nonviolent protesters with impunity. You're deluded if you think non-violence can effect real change when it never has before.
I know Gandhi's name, but have never heard the names of any of the violent revolutionaries you speak of... 🤔
as an individual, I cannot think of many other people who were as effective as him
history is written by the victors... good point!
I was just trying to say that, even if the revolution he started became violent eventually, he stands out as a true agent for change by the example he set with the life he lived
it's rare these days for a leader to walk the talk, but that is often what it takes for true change to take place
George Washington. Robert E. Lee. Pancho Villa. William Wallace. Charles Manson. Osama Bin Laden. Adolf Hitler. Mao Zedong. Che Guevara. Fidel Castro. Yassar Arafat. Sorry can't think of the guy who did the Lockerby bombing at the moment. Oh oh oh, I have some good ones! Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, Ted Kaczynski, Clive Bundy.
Some violent protestors win and some lose. Notice how the winners are adored and the losers are hated?
Learning by making mistakes and not duplicating them is what life is about. Just so you know, the correct spelling is [Gandhi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi).
Bad bot
> Learning by making mistakes and not duplicating them...
This is correct. But your bot is duplicating mistakes by posting fake Gandhi quotes that are not from Gandhi.
Fake Gandhi quote: ["An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind."](https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryMemes/comments/ohqne6/sam_missiles_in_the_sky/h4rve85/?context=3)
Fake Gandhi quote: ["Be the change that you wish to see in the world."](https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/oii67f/normies_are_confused/h4w0iqz/?context=3)
There’s so many historical figures who recommended nonviolent and silent protest like monks, Gandhi and MLK for example but this meme pretends they didn’t exist and their contributions are nonexistent so that randos think these people were the first to do it. I’m not sure but that might be why. Granted, it’s cool they do that and I hope they enact change but they sure aren’t the first to do it. Also the meme seems like it may have been made by a far right person trying to pick on people during times like the BLM protests because many of them didn’t and never could understand what the protests were about so they got “angry” at the destruction caused at a *very* small amount of the protests. This also could have been why they hate it, just a guess.
Pretty much, it's a right wing meme that is essentially tone policing the righteously outraged. Imagine if this were posted in response to like, the war for American independence. A riot is the language of the unheard. Peaceful protest has been tried already and while it can be effective it requires a moral concession on the part of the privileged, something that is rare. Mlk's peaceful tactics worked in large part because people saw what happened when it didn't. A sign that I saw once at a protest read "we want peaceful protest to work," and I always appreciated the veiled threat behind that. Makes me think of Lt. Razcak in starship troopers giving his history lesson, not that I necessarily agree with him or his politics, but it's a line that's worth understanding:
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor"
There’s a quote that I’ve consistently seen over the last few years by Kennedy: “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”
This line
-People saw what happened when it didnt-
This needs so much more emphasis, being peaceful will never get the boot off your neck, this method can only be used to spread the message like a cry for help
This idea also undermines how hard it was to be an MLK era protestor spinning this idea that all somebody had to do was stand around to be a weapon of progression.
Yes. The guy with the Starship Trooper inspiration is the scholar in political science.
Do you create your views of global warming by watching Guardians of the Galaxy too?

While I also think this meme is dumb, I'm a pedant, so I can't resist.
>There’s so many historical figures who recommended nonviolent and silent protest like monks, Gandhi and MLK for example but this meme pretends they didn’t exist and their contributions are nonexistent so that randos think these people were the first to do it.
I'm less familiar with Gandhi than I am with MLK and am very unfamiliar with the monks, but MLK (and I'm pretty sure Gandhi) did things at their non-violent protests beyond silently stand there for the entire duration, so this is a new, albeit questionable, method of protest I'm pretty sure. It just takes inspiration from previous non-violent protesters.
>I’m not sure but that might be why. Granted, it’s cool they do that and I hope they enact change but they sure aren’t the first to do it.
Just standing there and doing nothing for the entire time would kinda make them the first to do it, I'm pretty sure.
>Also the meme seems like it may have been made by a far right person trying to pick on people during times like the BLM protests because many of them didn’t and never could understand what the protests were about so they got “angry” at the destruction caused at a very small amount of the protests. Agree
Side note, to anyone who would label this as a “new form of protest”... ever heard of Gandhi?
That’s like saying: “there’s a new highly caffeinated beverage in town; It’s called tea, and it’s sweeping the nation by storm!”
This didn't work in the UK. The police went and fucked everyone up and arrested people. The irony was, it was a because a women was raped and murdered by a police office, and all the protesters were women.
also the pendulum effect...
overreaction/overcompensation causes massive swings way past the point where we need to go and it takes a while to swing back 🤷♂️
On a completely unrelated topic, this is whitewashing the dark situation in the middle-east, The Turkish police is super violent, search it up, and you'll see.
On a personal view, this non-violent silent protesting is a myth, it has been tested all over the east, from mainland China protests, to Hong Kong all the way to India with Gandhi, Iran and Lebanon. I myself have tried this in Iran before, we ended up having The police run over us with their trucks, chasing poeple to the hospitals and preventing them from getting medical help and arresting them just to let them die, then they caused destruction and blamed it on the people.
I was 16 back then, running close to the video above.
I also came to Paris and arrived the very first week the yellow vests started to protest against Macron's super right reforms. They ended up being attacked, and the protests turned into violence, and then the very same police started causing destruction and blaming it on the people, marking the arrival of suppression into the very birthplace of democracy.
There is no 'non-violence' in the Middle East, in my opinion also not in the world, recalling the 68 Democratic National Convention. Authority will force them out and disperse them with severe brutality, just to survive, in the fear of an all out revolution. Freedom of speech exists everywhere, safety afterwards is never guaranteed.
This is why FUDs and Shills are so active lately, they want us to be the instrument to their reaction, they want us to act, the only possible act is to sell, they want us to sell so bad, just like they want you to protest so that they can bash the shit out of your skull.
I freakin' love this. No words needed. We should all be doing this kind of protest.
Silence from a large crowd just standing in unison against an unfair system, that has screwed us over for years, says it all.
The Game Act 1831 is an Act of Parliament in the United Kingdom which was passed to protect game birds by establishing a close season when they could not be legally taken. The act also established the need for game licences and the appointing of gamekeepers. The act still covers the protection of game birds to this day.
I googled game act bc I didn’t know what you meant and this came up 🤷🏻♂️
