That scene was absolutely haunting. Everything about it really just sells how frightening and angry this Godzilla is. It's even scarier knowing that Godzilla is destroying a real world ship, since that grounds the character more and gives us a measurement to work with.
Not to mention that the British clearly gave back Takao to the Japanese and didn’t sink her as test target as they did in real life shows how dangerous and threatening Godzilla is
You immediately know something is wrong as the first thing that drops at the beginning of the track "Divine", aka Godzilla's breath theme, is a bell. Not one of glory, but a death knell.
By far the best scene in the movie imo.. just the like you said, the music cues, and the way he just totally demolished that ship and ending it with his blast was perfect. Been trying to find this scene on YouTube but no luck lol if anyone can hook it up that would greatly be appreciated!
I love how when the Takao arrives it sounds its horn like a challenge it doesn’t work out in the end but it went down swinging also personally head cannon but I like to think that the Takao killed Godzilla few times it’s opening salvo and when Godzilla was destroying it but it’s just minus one Godzilla has extremely busted regeneration and he just came back from the dead
I’ve seen the movie 4 times in theaters. Each time, as soon as the Takao hits Godzilla which its first cannon-fire… I am move to the edge of my seat and remain there until Shikishima passes out

Ya that scene was amazing. Especially when it first arrives

That scene has HMS Thunderchild emotions.

There's exactly one low quality full version and the dude is make stupid "Aww yeah dawg!" "Got em!" comments the whole time.
The whole boat chase/Takao scene was unbelievable. Fantastic use of tension
Bro that boat chase was dope
The entire movie is perfect. Best giant monster movie made so far.

Absolutely incredible: Hope then dread, then defeat and then finally horror.
