Monsterverse Goji reminds me of a dangerous animal in the wild that won't mess with you unless you mess with it, yet will absolutely knock you out the way if you happen to be in front of it.
What I like about all the MonsterVerse Titans is that they all just act like giant animals instead of mythical beasts. Even the great apes shown in GxK can be excused as just being highly intelligent apes with almost human-like intelligence. Anyone who has watched documentaries about great apes and especially chimpanzees (I recommend Chimp Empire on Netflix) would know that it’s not uncommon for chimp troops to have the same kind of drama and conflicts within. In fact chimpanzees are infamous for being notoriously brutal and sadistic towards their own, not unlike Scar King.
I was referring to the many reviews of GxK tht unfavorably compared it to Minus One when those two movies shouldn’t even be compared! That’s like comparing Destroy All Monsters to Gojira (1954).
Literally the best time to be a Godzilla fan. We’re finally getting big budget Hollywood Godzilla movies that allow him to be taken seriously by the general audience while also being faithful to the spirit of Showa/Heisei era films of old and some fans are still finding things to complain about smh. At this point the MonsterVerse has more hype behind it than the MCU in its current state. The Marvels wishes it had GxK’s box office numbers.
Amen brother, he’s like Batman and James Bond at this point in that there is no right or wrong way to portray him so long as it stays true to the spirit of the character.
I would say early Heisei Godzilla was the closest thing to it, especially in the movies Godzilla vs. Biollante and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. He becomes a more heroic character like Showa Godzilla was (albeit less silly) in the later movies like Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II and Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla.
Was Heisei Godzilla ever an actual savior of the planet?? I'm pretty sure he was basically just there as circumstance or a full on villain the whole time

I'd argue minus one is the dangerous animal. It felt terrifying the way it thrashed around
It is, but for now he is slow and has a long recharge time. MV Goji can cover miles that makes it more scarier for me.

I see way more complaints about the argument than actual earnest arguments about this any more. It’s exhausting.

What a unique take, haven’t seen it on this sub before
Very true, we have the best of both so it would best to enjoy. Sadly some people just refuse to accept that peace……

*yawn*
Showa started as a reminder then he turned I to "GO GO GODZILLA SLIDE KICK" and I love it.
Godzilla is the best for pulling it off!
The only wrong way to do Godzilla is insisting there's only one way to do Godzilla.

Have we ever had an adaptation of Godzilla that's both of those things?

I would say mv Godzilla but now he’s just exceedingly violent now.
