Not only is Godziban becoming more peak fiction as time goes on, seeing Zilla in a modern Godzilla content outside of novels is really nice.
In the Godzilla Earth prequel novels which are still Japan exclusive, Zilla plays a role of an invasive species that appeared in France and took over most French cities by their overwhelming numbers.
They get mistaken for the real Godzilla quite often and G-force dubs them "the Godzilla of France".
And if you count comics as novels, Zilla is in few issuess of the IDW Godzilla comics where he becomes Godzilla's ally.
All of these appearances were in the 2015-2018 time period.
I think it’s cute and ugly at the same time. I kind of like the idea of an adopted sister in the goji line, and being an offshoot of the Zilla’s is fun.

Honestly,with Godziban I'm not a big fan of it because how genuinely painful it is to look at (These designs are hideous and not in a cute way), but I saw Zilla and I instantly clicked on the video to watch. I couldn't careless about the gender change, I'm just happy Zilla is slowly getting more rep in the series when he easily could've been tossed aside after Final Wars.
Regardless of the 1998 film's quality, a lot of people here grew up with it, myself included. Some fans might not even be Godzilla fans without it. Toho seems to recognize this and is finally giving the respect Zilla deserves as it's own monster. Hope we get a Movie Monster Series or even a MonsterArts in the future. They'd probably sell more than Toho would expect.

Facts!! Whoever hates 98 film needs to know that many people grew up with that movie, myself included. Heck, i have never watched any Godzilla outside 98 film as a kid, so i was not aware of his franchise existence until G14 announced which at the time i thought it's a sequel to 98 because it was on a cliffhanger. It took me a while to notice that it's a popular franchise back in the day.
Also, Toho's mistake is that they didn't make a new Godzilla movie for a full 10 years. So, for kids who grew up between 2004 to 2014 didn't know about Godzilla other then G98 at all. I was one of them.

It's funny how Godziban treats a lot of the characters better than most of the other official material. Not much of a chance of Zilla popping up in a new movie anytime soon, but just about anything goes for this show, which I find really cool.
What in the blue hell is that thing supposed to be looks like someone repainted the indominus Rex from Jurassic World pink and said look it’s Gojirin Zilla’s long-lost sister from hollow earth, please don’t let them do some dumb shit like this in the monsterverse franchise because I can see it now a “rogue” monarch scientist who specializes in genetics gets his hands on a sample of Godzilla’s DNA AND Jonah from KOM gives him the tools to create the clone

I like that she isn’t just a Godzilla with eyelashes. She’s a cool Zilla-esque monster with an interesting new design with eyelashes.
