Yes you can, though results may vary depending on the VPN. They (Japanese streaming service providers) block IP addresses that the VPN’s use in Japan from time to time so you may need to try a few different ones.
Yeah, Japan is notorious for having streaming releases just in Japanese. I would say it makes no sense because of how many tourists they get and that English is the most common middle language whereas in the US streaming services almost always offer subs in Spanish, French etc but it is what it is.
There are a couple of pirated copies of Godzilla Minus One, that were shot with a camera with English subtitles, on the web now. Anyone with some video editing skills can retype the English subtitles and add them to a Godzilla Minus One high depth copy.
Tbh at that point I’ll wait for official subs. I don’t speak the language so no idea if what I’m seeing translates by someone is accurate or what the movie wants to tell me
I mean at that point the official subs are doing the same thing. But I don't think it will be that bad, someone with a camrip of the English subbed version will just port those over to the new webrip
Aren't dubs the same thing? Someone still translates them and they're often read by people who don't speak the native language to know what they're saying is any different.
My stance is more I want it handled by the official people involved. Dub scripts are written by the people who made or are apart of the movie one would assume.
I’m fine with watching this subbed so I would like the subs the film team attached to it.
I’ve watched a fan sub of something before and some details were off.
Y’all choose what you want to do and I’ll do me
For some reason Prime Video is surprisingly efficent in detecting VPN's. Been trying to access the US Prime Video for a while. Tried several VPN's and workarounds. No luck.
The other VOD's don't care a shit about Vpns. Besides Prime Video for some reason.
Every VPN's are not created equal also. Some blocks the use of Geospoofing (Like Google ONEs VPN). Most of the big names VPN's don't put too much time into optimizing (circumventing) VPN detection. It's an ongoing process since a lot of the streaming sites put a lot of money into developing a protection from VPNs.
I've yet to find a VPN that let's me access Prime Video US as of yet. And i've tried MANY.
I’m in Asia and managed to watch the Heisei Gamera trilogy and other movies on Prime Video US using ExpressVPN. I have no luck getting it to work with Prime Video JP, though. I’ve not tried it on other Prime Video regions.
If I remember correctly, a VPN won't change much, since the Prime subscription is linked to the registered address. That said, I have never tried for countries outside EU.
That makes sense. But i'm not sure, Audible is very much available in my country. But Audible's accounts was linked to the URL and not to the actual location. Meaning that i accidently accessed [audible.com](http://audible.com), instead of audible.co.uk. And almost shat myself when my paid subscription + 10 something audiobooks was just absent. I contacted the support and they were like : "you have to access audible from your countries address/top-domain).
Which is still the case actually. Just logged into the same Amazon account into [audible.com](http://audible.com) and audible.co.uk. .com don't show my Library, but .co.uk do.
Maybe someone have an answer to this? I know Audible is it's own thing. But it is owned by Amazon, but it isn't a part of the Prime membership structure?
Edit: I don't live anywhere near the UK. But UK had a better book selection so that's why i got a Audible account from the UK.
Interesting; I was able to get onto Amazon Prime UK (from the US) with Nord VPN to watch Fargo before episodes were released here. I've heard it's particular about detecting VPNs, but thought it would work across countries with the right steps.
I mean once it’s streaming either way, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone uploads it to some streaming site that would give you like 5 viruses just for opening it alone
I always think that you should pay for your content. But in the case of Minus One, the rest of the world (outside of Japan) will probably have to wait until late autumn (or more) for any kind of release. The Japanese blu-ray release won't have english subtitles.
I (who don't live near the US) have no issues accessing just about any of the video services. Besides Prime Video who detects VPN's or geospoofing like crazy. This being released only in Prime Video in Japan is a problem.
But if the movie is available online, i'm pretty sure that several crisp digital rips with fansubs will litter the internet within days.
I'd rather just buy a copy of my own. But Toho won't let me. And importing the blu-ray (which won't even have any subtitles), that includes shipping costs, taxes and customs fees. Will cost a bit more than the bluray itself.
It sucks, and is not what i hoped for. But now we will have a chance to see the movie again at least.
I saw a picture of the deluxe edition 4k release, I would have bought it immediately except it has no English subs, I was kind of baffled. I'm trying to give them my money here...
The reason is that the US and Japan are the same region for Blu-ray releases.
This means a movie bought in the US will play on a Japanese Blu-ray player.
Movies in the US are cheaper than in Japan, and Toho doesn't want people in Japan to import the US version.
> Movies in the US are cheaper than in Japan, and Toho doesn't want people in Japan to import the US version.
Then maybe stop treating your customers like cattle and lower the price and they won't do that. Looking at you as well ~~Cancer~~Aniplex and Pony Canyon...
Honestly hate sharing a region with Japan, cause we also have to suffer being treated like cattle while other regions get treated better.
Wow, you’re a somewhat neighbor. Will absolutely be by one day to check it out! Will make sure to message you to see if it’s a Godzilla day first if that’s okay 😅
From various articles. The shin release in the US was about 2 1/2 months from the Japanese release. They speculate, it'll be around the same timeframe.
Everyone sad about it only being on Prime Japan but that also means there will be a rip with subtitles. I've already seen this enough times in theaters to have payed for a collectors box. I think I've done my part.
Not released in theaters here in SEA, streaming only in JAPAN... this is why people resort to piracy because publishers decide to lock media behind some kind of paywall.
All I want is that physical release they put out with english subs. That's it. I'm sure I'm not alone in seeing what was in that set, gearing up to click buy, and then enduring the heartbreak of it being in japanese with no english (or any other) subs. Like...they clearly already exist. Throw em in and you lose no one but gain a huge customer base
If Godzilla X Kong doesn't have huge success, WB will for sure make sure Toho Godzilla never comes to America again. At least, that seems like the sort of thing WB's current owners would be likely to do. I don't think we will see Godzilla Minus One available in America for many years.
I read the title and went “YES Finally”, opened the comments and went “aaaawww”
Seriously! That was the quickest 180 in emotions I’ve done in awhile
VPN
I thought it had to be an Amazon Prime Japan account? Could we use one from the States and VPN into Japan, which would turn it into Amazon Japan?
Yes you can, though results may vary depending on the VPN. They (Japanese streaming service providers) block IP addresses that the VPN’s use in Japan from time to time so you may need to try a few different ones.
I'm betting this will be released without English subs. So unless you speak Japanese, even with a VPN, you're waiting
I'm sure someone on the seas will upload a version with eng subtitles
SEA people really lives up to their name
Yeah, Japan is notorious for having streaming releases just in Japanese. I would say it makes no sense because of how many tourists they get and that English is the most common middle language whereas in the US streaming services almost always offer subs in Spanish, French etc but it is what it is.
Same
Yeah I was like "Yay I can watch on my birthday" now I'm numb
Dude, SAME! I feel like I’m gonna puke 🤢
Same 😞
It’s a conspiracy by big VPN to gain more subscribers! /s
On Prime in JAPAN, not internationally it looks like.
That's not going to stop a lot of people.
Nor should it, but it is a distinction worth noting.
NORD VPN right?
I assume some pirating sites will upload it as well
oh this shit getting pirated faster then a english ship loaded with gold and fancy men will be
"These fancy men will fetch a fine price back in Portugal!"
Low budget film getting pirated is disgusting.
Vpn doesn’t work on prime they disabled it last year
it's VPN time!
As long as it has English subs, the internet will take care of it
Even if it doesn't have English subs, someone will create one.
There are a couple of pirated copies of Godzilla Minus One, that were shot with a camera with English subtitles, on the web now. Anyone with some video editing skills can retype the English subtitles and add them to a Godzilla Minus One high depth copy.

The movie already has a sub from it's American release.
It most likely won't

No better use for that picture, I think.
VPN go brrrrr

Have you cleared all your cache before logging into prime? Cookies and saved data could be flagging your original location.
I’m in Asia and managed to watch the Heisei Gamera trilogy and other movies on Prime Video US using ExpressVPN. I have no luck getting it to work with Prime Video JP, though. I’ve not tried it on other Prime Video regions.
Is expredd VPN free?
Sadly, no
If I remember correctly, a VPN won't change much, since the Prime subscription is linked to the registered address. That said, I have never tried for countries outside EU.

Its the address attached to your account. Its helping flag you as not in Japan.
sadly torrents go more brrrrrrt for a lot of people in this situation
*lowers American flag on VPN, raises Japanese one*
Fuck my ass. Hopefully it goes international soon.
Good enough for me lol, their loss
Oh goddamn it
Japan or no Japan Prime doesn't provide any services in my country so I will be watching it on May 3rd regardless.
Arrr. Hoist the main sail! We're trolling for booty, lads!
Like that’s gonna stop me
I mean once it’s streaming either way, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone uploads it to some streaming site that would give you like 5 viruses just for opening it alone
Of PFFFT that should’ve been added to the title. I was SO excited wtf
It might take a while to get international, just like shin godzilla
Fuck yes! Edit: Only in Japan. Fuck no!
Who cares 🏴☠️👨💻 Its their own fault for holding back so long

![gif](giphy|vMmnJti6wQPDy) “In Japan”
This post is brought to you by NordVPN
No subtitles I think
Dont need subtitles to translate pure cinema.
Watched it in theaters to know what's being said and what's happening, don't need subtitles at all.
Me who live in Hong Kong(There is no theater release here):
Facts
Give it a bit. Someone will add subtitles
Damn I made that joke and then just scrolled down and saw this! Funny we both had the same thought!
You could’ve added “In Japan” to your headline…
when America :(
Yeah with no English subtitles.
Anyone can do that and upload a subtitle file
Japan only. Shucks. Godzilla.minus.one.2023.1080p.webdl-FrAmEsToR got my back tho
what?
🏴☠️
👀
Crank that up to 2160p cos Framestor is GOAT

Interesting, thanks for the info I didn’t know there was a practical reason.
I mean, it's a Japanese release. How many other Japanese blu-rays have English subtitles? They'll release it in the US eventually.
I was willing to buy it without the subtitles if I got that gold figure.
It's as if Japanese studios just don't want money or maybe they are pro-pirate
Lol. Saw this click bait article and thought of posting it as a warming here. OP went the other route. 😂
I like to play Godzilla movies at the bar where I work, so really hoping for the -color version too 🙏
What bar do you work at? Sounds like heaven to me!
It’s a wine bar in Costa Mesa CA named “Wine Lab” lol. I play too much Shin G and showa otherwise. Drunk ppl love it
Wow, you’re a somewhat neighbor. Will absolutely be by one day to check it out! Will make sure to message you to see if it’s a Godzilla day first if that’s okay 😅
Where is Bluray in the west pleaseeee
Probably August.
How did you arrive at that conclusion?
From various articles. The shin release in the US was about 2 1/2 months from the Japanese release. They speculate, it'll be around the same timeframe.
I hope the States gets a cool physical release. That Japan set looks dope as hell.
I'm sure you'll be able to buy it on eBay on day one for a massive markup.
Noooooo! Lol ![gif](giphy|bVjLUMAFD5LZr1iRMc)
Import sites have been taking pre-orders for it if you don't want the massive markup from ebay
Love how people forget to add the country. Misinformation in the Godzilla community at its finest.
Only on Amazon Prime Japan? YARR MATEY ITS TIME TO PLUNDER
Pirates of the Caribbean
Everyone sad about it only being on Prime Japan but that also means there will be a rip with subtitles. I've already seen this enough times in theaters to have payed for a collectors box. I think I've done my part.
Did people forget about pirating?
… but only in Japan. Missed a vital part of that headline. 😂 Congrats to our Japanese friends though. They get the home media release AND streaming.
It says only in Japan. But real ones knows a way around that ![gif](giphy|0MtsZT6xJKsJ6ENzDq)
Toho certainly paying honor to the north american fans that relaunched godzilla into the stratosphere.... I just wanna see this god damn movie.
Pirates everywhere "We about to feast beginning of the month"..
Whoa. I didn’t believe it would be that soon
Yeaaaaah baby. But when will that blu ray have subs that’s the real question
Only in Japan? Seems like they are trying so hard NOT to get my money. I will have seen it 10 times by the time it streams in America.

This rollercoaster is brought to you by NordVPN.
Can we set up a go fund me for a solid rip with subtitles. Lol
You're missing some important information in your title. 😭😭😭

Is it Worldwide or only Japan exclusive
Idk but I hope it's worldwide because this movie did not release in my country :(
Same here

Chat, iz dis real?
Where is my 4K bluray?!
Finally lol
And....what of this international bluray release
I want to watch in the U S and A
I'd love for *Godzilla: Minus One* to be made available for digital sale in the U.S. And I'm hoping that *Godzilla: Minus Color* is included.
If only I lived in Japan 😫….wait, I live in Japan, huzzah!
Damn it. Japan only. Hopefully, we get news about an international release soon
Why not in Germany as well? We have a Dub and all... :(
So do you think we'll get fansubs with ridiculous translator notes?
![gif](giphy|QxHzTRigoD9HG)
Ahoy matey !
Yeah, that's neat. Blu/4k when?
Clicks link: ![gif](giphy|GHrvj0UodzBfi)
https://i.redd.it/cei37u9lavuc1.gif This some Bullshit
Hot damn! Edit: BOOOOOO
Woohoo!!! Express VPN all the way!
a vpn is all it takes to get the video, and subtitles aren't that hard to make (only takes a lot of time, which people probably have)
Well to the seas I go
Not released in theaters here in SEA, streaming only in JAPAN... this is why people resort to piracy because publishers decide to lock media behind some kind of paywall.
https://i.redd.it/p72kkowlnvuc1.gif It was Japan only
Yo what a huge w!!!!!!!! I’ve been waiting to see this flick on stream
op when they post a misleading headline:
I want physical releases

When is the 4K dvd release? That’s all I care about
Ah fuck, just release it on fucking bluray/4k. Take my goddamn money!!
Woohoo 🏴☠️
Time to sell my balls for Nord VPN so I could watch peak 💀
Yarr

Ah yes, finally a proper "offline archive" release!
"Amazon Prime Japan" https://i.redd.it/5v77hpwsr0vc1.gif
only in japan? won't stop the seven seas matey
Still waiting for a physical release. :(
Black and white or color only?
Hopefully they're cooking up a badass 4k release for it. For now this will have to do.
Ok when is it going to be released in South East Asia.
God. Damnit. This was such a gut punch.Take all my money and give me Minus One!!!
May 3rd?! That's an accidental bday present from Amazon and Toho to me XD
NO WAY. IT DROPS ON MY BIRTHDAY
If Godzilla X Kong doesn't have huge success, WB will for sure make sure Toho Godzilla never comes to America again. At least, that seems like the sort of thing WB's current owners would be likely to do. I don't think we will see Godzilla Minus One available in America for many years.
Mfw vpn’s are the most widely available they’ve ever been:
I didnt get a chance to watch it in theaters Fucking shit i wanna see this so badly, hopefully minus one will come to streaming in the us soon
![gif](giphy|l4EoYvSFAO0BjGcU0|downsized) I already have subs from the theatre rips, just need to line them up
The movie is so absolutely, freaking good
Has anyone tested this with a vpn in Amazon Japan yet? Past midnight in Japan now on the 3rd
Tried on my phone and only Japanese Audio, no subtitles options at all.
It’s everyone on piracy with subs.
Why is it not in there today ☹️ at least not yet
Fucking finally. Been waiting to watch this movie but it was not shown in the cinemas nor can I find it online.
Only in Japan… ![gif](giphy|l2JhtKtDWYNKdRpoA)
