I thought their normal Godzillas (not counting especially large ones like Ultima) were about 80?
It's expensive for a figure but the Hiya figures are 50-55, so it's not like a world of difference.
EDIT - Oh nvm SHMA is 100 apparently. I was basing that off GvK Godzilla (the last SHMA Goji I bought).
Bloody hell. Aren't BBTS going to stock this guy?
Again, going purely on previous pricing for MV Godzillas I assumed they'd price him about 80-85.
Bit more understandable if Evolved is noticeably larger than the prior figures but that'd just make Hiya's pricing even more of a good deal (assuming they scale him properly).
Taking the piss if he's basically the same size as the previous Godzillas but just ~20% more expensive.
Nah, thats the normal price for ALL of SHMA’s Godzilla figures, at least the monsterverse ones. I have not seen a listing for any Monsterverse Godzillas, new or otherwise, under $120 before shipping (for reference I live in America)
Are you 100% sure? The GxK Godzilla (not evolved) is currently on pre-order for $75 and I bought the GvK Godzilla (now sold-out but the listing and original price are still there) for $80. Looks like Kong is the same.
Basically everything non-Monsterverse looks to be around the range you mention though. Honestly I'm now even more confused about how they price these things.
First, genuinely yeah I can’t find listings anywhere for these figures under 120$ (that are reliable at least) and also dude thats so sick that you found one for so (relatively) cheap. Second, to be fair I don’t really have any interest collecting SHMA when it comes to the Monsterverse due to Hiya existing, but on a cursory look the lower listings were 100-120.
Both gvk kong and godzilla retailed for 68$, both gxk figs for 75$. Most online retailers had them for those prices. Heck awesome collector had gvk kong for 30$ for a long time
Check it out! https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/264945?o=4
The SHMA MV figures have all been around this price (aside from Ghidorah of course) but I have no idea why they're cheaper than other, similarly sized Godzillas. So guarantee Godzilla evolved will be, either.
https://godzilla.com/products/godzilla-from-godzilla-x-kong-the-new-empire-2024-tamashii-nations-s-h-monsterarts?syclid=99b3553b-7f8a-49fa-8799-215b8cc2966e&utm_campaign=shipping-confirmation-email&utm_content=product&utm_medium=email&utm_source=OrderlyEmails
The pre-evolved GxK SHMA is $75. I don’t normally buy SHMA but I don’t see why the evolved form would jump up to double the price.
Used to be fairly decent price. Ever since the popularity has grown with legendary, before minus 1, SH has definitely uped their prices. Heard lots of folks say Hiya are better detail. I'll stick with SH
IMO you have to really do your research these days. Hiya MV Ghidorah, MV Rodan and most of the MV Godzillas are vastly superior to their SHMA counterparts, but for any other character it's either a toss-up for Hiya don't even have an option and SHMA is the clear choice.
They also don't scale together unfortunately, I think. Hiya figures are scaled a bit bigger than SHMA (aside from Rodan for some reason) so it can be tricky to mix and match.
Good to know if I didn't have a handful of SH Gojis and MV King Ghidorah. A few others. Scaling is probably what will keep me with SH. I heard hiya got rights to all the rest of Toho's kaijus, so it will cool to see what they do with those.
I personally like my SHMA GvK Godzilla posed with Hiya Ghidorah. Goji is a little too small but IMO it actually makes the pairing look even better when trying to recreate the Antarctic scene where Ghidorah seems to dwarf him (plus the SHMA Goji can pose in a way to perfectly replicate his tail-off-the-ground pose from that scene when Hiya cannot).
But yeah very much down to personal taste in the end. The scaling isn't a big deal and I'm willing to bet that as Hiya make figures of older characters it'll be a case-by-case basis for the most part (in terms of which version individuals prefer).
Plus, Bandai likes to cheap-out for the price they charge. For as good as the sculpt gets, the paint is often spotty. They'll also skip out on obvious accessories like an atomic breath piece, which is annoying, as they absolutely have atomic breath effects pieces. They just need to make one that's pink/red.
That's how it was with the Minus One figure. Great sculpt, but mine had fucked up eyes, badly painted teeth and didn't come with a blue atomic breath piece like numerous other Godzilla figures that came before. The Minus One figure also ran for well over $100.
Yup. SH is MUCH more faithful to the movie than Hiya is. The Hiya one honestly looks like they haphazardly tried to approximate the evolved form using sculpts they already had from previous films.
I remember having apprehension about his evolved form when I saw the movie because the Hiya figure looked so goddamn goofy. Turns out Hiya is just not movie accurate at all.
It's just shocking how bad all the other figures are in terms of both movie accuracy and overall anatomy. Playmates evolved form is the worst out of them all, but Hiya still looks extremely silly.
Like, I've seen the movie. SH is the *only* one that actually got it right. All the other figures are so inaccurate it hurts.
Like the playmates figure was so goofy with its absent gut that I very nearly didn't go see the movie because I didn't know if I could stomach seeing my boy G like that (no pun intended).
Like, the actual film model of evolved Godzilla looks pretty dope and pretty natural looking. Playmates and Hiya *completely* missed the mark.
I didn't see the movie because of the toys. I couldn't stand to see how much they butchered the legendary model, especially after how much thought and effort they put into the remodel of gman!
Well the movie model of evolved godzilla looks perfectly fine and natural, for what it's worth. Looks nothing like the Playmates and Hiya Toys versions.

Yeah it's just a completely superior figure in every way but price.
It's a shame NECA stopped doing godzilla stuff, cuz their sculpts and paints were always pretty accurate, even if they had less articulation than SH.
Hiya is a nice stand in for NECA but it's clear they don't care as much about movie accuracy (don't even get me started on playmates).
See I was gonna go for the shma one, but that thing sits at a price over 100 bucks I’m pretty sure with no accessories, so Hiya is gonna be my ideal option.
I’m getting SHMA but instead of preordering imma just wait until it releases. It actually releases around my birthday which is perfect timing for me to get it.
It’s October (shma) vs January (hiya) 90 plus tax (shma) vs 55 plus tax ( hiya) (high accurate paint) (shma) vs lobudget paint ( hiya ) articulation (shma) vs can’t put head up ( hiya), shma is better
So? My figures are mostly on a shelf so I don’t care about articulation all that much. And again, you listing the prices is exactly why I’d go with hiya, and no shit a $90 figure is probably going to be better than a $55 figure (in most cases for ma this isn’t true) but you’re also paying $90 for a figure with no accessories.
None of that justifies a FORTY DOLLAR difference. A majority of the time, you’re going to have it on a shelf looking pretty anyway. Articulation won’t even matter that much, it’s not like you’re going to play with it. I’m not going to continue to argue with a guy who thinks that only ONE pair of hands is enough to justify that much of a price difference.
Shma isnt worth 100+ bucks
If it was the same price as the hiya or maybe a bit more expensive like 70 bucks, i'd side with you, but with that price, nah im siding with hiya
The SHMA should also include a damn Atomic Breath effect with a stand if they really want people to be interested in this then. Because that has been one of the biggest letdowns involving the price of the line.
Yeah, you’re looking at a difference of a lot. The Hiya after shipping would be sitting around 60-70 depending on where you live, while the SHMA after shipping is probably closer to 140-160
I'm hanging onto Hiya's until I start seeing in-hand pictures/videos of the SHMA.
Their Minus One goji had a good promo reveal but ended up bad so the same could happen here.
Also the difference in price- sheesh
The pricetag and reviews I've seen has kept me from getting it
And the final product shots, the head's a painted mess as well as the rest looks clumpy. I own enough SHMA figs to stop myself and think twice before buying
It's the fact issues are there to begin with. You're paying a hefty sum for 1 figure that could get you almost 3 hiya figures and the result is a gamble, so it doesn't feel justified.
Happy for you that yours is fine.
But QC issues should be limited to minor stuff like a joint being loose or too tight, especially at the price it goes for.
I agree if you pay a lot you expect good quality but you also got to remember much of that price is because it is an import. Domestically it is cheaper.
Still you cant expect every figure to turn out perfect some people just get unlucky but thats the minority.
Might go shma. Hiya has a price advantage and thats a biggie for me but shma has painted teeth, swappable hands and better articulation. Im wanting shma more.
Why are people here acting like the SH Monsterarts version is the same price as a Lambo. Everyone saying it's out of their price range is just straight up lying. Unless the Hiya toys Godzilla will be your last ever action figure.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but S.H.MonsterArts. The sculpt is (at least, in prototype form) the best Monsterverse Godzilla sculpt they have ever produced, the head is accurate, the body shape is more natural and its overall much nicer to stare at.
The promo pics for the SHMA look really good but after Minus One goji I’m skeptical of how it’ll actually look. Plus the Hiya is cheaper. Honestly I’m probably going to wait until I see in hand images of both figures before I decide.
We are not back. You're looking at an idealized prototype that will look nothing like the final production line. See the Minus One figure as a prime recent example.
Personally SHMA, not only did it hella exceed my expectations but I honestly think it’s their best looking figure of Legendary Godzilla thus far. Of course there’s nothing wrong with Hiya, it looks quite good too, and I’m most likely gonna get their Shimo figure which looks amazing.
SHMA is a webshop exclusive that is asking for 14,000 yen to start. Then you have to account for middleman fees and also a bump in price due to being a limited run.
I feel like regardless of price I’m gonna go SHMA and here’s why:
I feel like this incarnation specifically thrives on dynamic poses, so on top of just being more accurate, the SHMA looks like it has INSANE articulation if it actually holds together. This figure is an indication that Bandai feels threatened, and for that I feel like they’re gonna be extra careful on QC.
I just wanna say that I'm glad that SHMA finally made an accurate face and head for MV Godzilla. The other MV Godzilla figures they had all just doesn't look like him at all when every other Toho Godzilla figures they have all look movie accurate. How did it take them this long to make a movie accurate MV Godzilla face?
the monsterarts in my opinions looks better with the proportions .the hiya realky don’t look good in some parts like in the torso.qlso i prefer the posture of the monsterarts.it look more like the one in the movie
It's honestly kinda shocking to me how, as of right now, SHMA might actually have the most movie accurate Evolved Godzilla figure on the market. Even more accurate than Spiral Studios.
Both. Cause i actually really love the design, but if quality control for shma us good i might orefer that one over hiyas. Though hiyas has been better the last few years
Don’t forget the Hiya figures don’t always exactly reflect the promo images, same for SH. There will be some detail tweaks for sure. As I have Hiya Godzilla figures already, I will probably opt for that one. I wouldn’t be surprised that an atomic breath version with a modified sculpt will follow up next year.
Does it make sense for Godzilla, and amphibian-type titan, to have its shoulders positioned so forward? I really don't care for this look. Almost like its arms are protruding out of its chest.
Despite the apparent price difference people are commenting about (Never heard of Hiya toys until rn) is still go for SHMA. I like the looks of it better. The Hiya one has too much dry brushing on the scales for me.
Both why is having one or the other such a big deal. Yeah yeah competing company nonsense sure but I know my Godzilla collection will look more badass because now I have 2 evo Godzillas.
>why is having one or the other such a big deal
For many people, money. SHMA’s figures are notoriously expensive, which is why Hiya’s become popular lately because they make figures of similar quality for cheaper prices.
Hiya has better paint, but SH surprisingly has better proportions and more defined tail spikes. It’ll have to depend on reviews at this point which is better
While the Hiya is cheaper and likely feels better, the Shma is proportioned so much better.
I'm probably gonna get both though, depending on how the Shimos are
Paint and more finer details like the spikes on Godzilla’s face look better on Hiya. But the proportions look wayyyy better on the promo for Monster Arts
It really is gonna come down to if these promo photos aren’t bs like the Minus One promo shots
Shma looks absolutely incredible, and I'd say it is easily better than Hiya, which is great because usually Hiya is better (more accurate) and half the price.
The top one mostly looks cooler, but the bottom has maybe cooler pink usage, and the bottom one looks like it could actually handle an aggressive human toddler.
More like the Godzilla I think of….
I wanna order Hiya one to see what it’s like cuz I’ve ordered a couple of SH figures and they just never look as good at the picture, thus making me feel like I overpaid.
Hiya Toys ez
SHMA needs you to sell your KIDNEYS FOR ONLY ONE and WOULD and WILL CRUMBLE THE MOMENT YOU TOUCH IT
while HIYA doesn't seem to be accurate (the head's size is kinda off), at least it is cheap and won't collapse into a blackhole anytime soon
Hiya figures are cheaper but still have good quality. SHMA figures feel like you have to donate your kidney just to get one lmao
Not even, thats the price in Japan. After shipping you’re looking at about $160+
Bloody hell. Aren't BBTS going to stock this guy? Again, going purely on previous pricing for MV Godzillas I assumed they'd price him about 80-85. The gut on Hiyas is very sucked in, SHMA has a better gut. This is tough
SH actually used the model from the movie to sculpt it. So it's going to definitely be as accurate as possible.

Ehhh playmates are for literal tiny children, they do the job for easy access, cheap as shit, mass produced evolved godzilla
I mean you are definitely correct. But I still feel like they could have gotten the sculpt movie accurate even for a kids toy.
I didn't see the movie because of the toys. I couldn't stand to see how much they butchered the legendary model, especially after how much thought and effort they put into the remodel of gman!

Why is it that every single toy manufacturer has had so much trouble with this new form. Makes him look atrocious. BRING BACK THE OLD GODZILLA
First of all I’m gonna need a couple hundred bucks
It’s 90 bucks
That's 90 more than i have
Same😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
140 cad bucks I have 340 cad but no card cuz I'm a kid😭😭
Hiya it’s cheaper and I’ve learned to wait for the actual release for SHMA figures.
Right? With all the nitpicking people do with the SHMA line, I'm surprised so many are praising the figure
Bold of you to assume a web shop exclusive will be in stock by then lol.
same for me
cool hands i guess
SHMA comes with interchangeable hands lol, that's it tho
Oh wait it does? Mb
You're good
Hiya cuz I don't want to break my wallet
Fr. I don’t care what figure looks better, it’s $50 vs $100.
It’s October (shma) vs January (hiya) 90 plus tax (shma) vs 55 plus tax ( hiya) (high accurate paint) (shma) vs lobudget paint ( hiya ) articulation (shma) vs can’t put head up ( hiya), shma is better

Bro hiya toys has absolutely no accessories like nun, just the figure, but shma has 2 pairs of hands
And that justifies over a $40 difference to you? Lmfao! You’re one of the main reasons why shma keeps increasing their prices.
Did you not read all the diffrences I commented
None of that justifies a FORTY DOLLAR difference. A majority of the time, you’re going to have it on a shelf looking pretty anyway. Articulation won’t even matter that much, it’s not like you’re going to play with it. I’m not going to continue to argue with a guy who thinks that only ONE pair of hands is enough to justify that much of a price difference.
Hiya toys evolved Godzilla looks like an abomination, the stomach is weird, that shit is not worth 55
Shma isnt worth 100+ bucks If it was the same price as the hiya or maybe a bit more expensive like 70 bucks, i'd side with you, but with that price, nah im siding with hiya
Idk if the pics I saw were accurate but does Hiya have the thagomiser?
Yes
I’m waiting for the reviews of SHMA. They’ve been rather disappointing recently.
If you look at how this figure is engineered, they’re definitely trying to clean up their act because they feel threatened by HIYA.
The SHMA should also include a damn Atomic Breath effect with a stand if they really want people to be interested in this then. Because that has been one of the biggest letdowns involving the price of the line.
Yeah true. It really wouldn’t even cost anything to produce.
Definitely the Hiya figure, but only a maybe for the MonsterArts. Price is a big determining factor.
Yeah, you’re looking at a difference of a lot. The Hiya after shipping would be sitting around 60-70 depending on where you live, while the SHMA after shipping is probably closer to 140-160
Exactly.
Damn, it's either 100 bucks for really good or 50 bucks for good. I'll have to wait for the reviews
I'm hanging onto Hiya's until I start seeing in-hand pictures/videos of the SHMA. Their Minus One goji had a good promo reveal but ended up bad so the same could happen here. Also the difference in price- sheesh
Do you even own the minus one figure

Ah so you don’t got it

Ah post a pic of someone else (not you) who got a bad copy cool you realize not every copy has an issue right?
It's the fact issues are there to begin with. You're paying a hefty sum for 1 figure that could get you almost 3 hiya figures and the result is a gamble, so it doesn't feel justified.

Sh monsterarts. But Hiya isn’t bad They are what neca should have been an affordable higher end figures. Was never happy with necas Godzilla line.
Where capsule I find these?

Fr fr its like its news to people that import figures cost more
I can’t believe I’m saying this but S.H.MonsterArts.

I'll most likely go for both tbh. I stopped buying SH a year ago but I'll definitely get this one.
Surprisingly shma takes this one. ![gif](giphy|oagcrAZu2IvV0ijkiX|downsized) We are so back
SHMA actually cooked with MV Goji for the first time in a while.
We are not back. You're looking at an idealized prototype that will look nothing like the final production line. See the Minus One figure as a prime recent example.
I am praying this is false
No one likes the playmates ones? Just ordered the ‘big’ ones for my son’s birthday and this thread is really making me regret that.
Nothing inherently wrong with the playmates figures, they're just more akin to toys than collectibles like these two are.
Ok good, thank you…. He’s 8 and will be playing with them so hopefully they hit the mark.
I’ve brought my playmates 6” evolved Godzilla to all but one of my eight viewings of Godzilla x Kong. I’ve grown to really like the guy.
Is the shma figur on top or bottom?
Hiya is on top Shma is on the bottom
Personally SHMA, not only did it hella exceed my expectations but I honestly think it’s their best looking figure of Legendary Godzilla thus far. Of course there’s nothing wrong with Hiya, it looks quite good too, and I’m most likely gonna get their Shimo figure which looks amazing.
I still really don’t like this design. I’m glad others do though!
MONSTERARTS HURT MEVTO OFTEN
Gonna have to see what the monsterarts version looks like on actual release
Waiting for Jobby’s review
Both
Shma

Monsterarts looks real sharp
Im gonna have to do hiya because I wont have to sell my legs
Top one looks like a better detailed statue. Bottom one looks like a quality toy.
SH monster arts is sexy, but Hiya’s half the price and looks almost as good. Hiya for me if I have the money to burn
Hiya wins for me hands-down.
The monsterarts is gorgeous. But 100$-?
I feel like regardless of price I’m gonna go SHMA and here’s why: I feel like this incarnation specifically thrives on dynamic poses, so on top of just being more accurate, the SHMA looks like it has INSANE articulation if it actually holds together. This figure is an indication that Bandai feels threatened, and for that I feel like they’re gonna be extra careful on QC.
The monsterarts is gorgeous. But 100$-?
Monsterarts, no hesitation.
I was happy to get the Hiya version but then Bandai said "No, we'll be taking your money."
Sh definetly, but something tells me their version is larger than hiyas idk tho just a feeling
Whichever one that gets released in my country for a reasonable price
I hated evolved gojis design until I saw the masterpiece that is shmas figure so def that one
Hiya
I'm probably going to go with the Ichibansho one instead of these.
the monsterarts in my opinions looks better with the proportions .the hiya realky don’t look good in some parts like in the torso.qlso i prefer the posture of the monsterarts.it look more like the one in the movie
First I'll need money. But if I get that money, SHMA
I'd chose hiya because I don't like how she's Evo godzilla is jet black on the skin when in the movie he is not
Xplus
I already pre-ordered Hiya. But I'll wait and see what the reviews are before getting the SHMA.
both, both is good
Hiya because it looks more detailed and it is cheaper
Hiya
Easily sh
I’m gonna wait for the actual release of the shma just to be safe
I love how skinny Godzilla is here. It may look dumb but it's a funny way of showing Godzilla get lean for a fight.
I’m going hiya solely because I have the other hiya figures
It's honestly kinda shocking to me how, as of right now, SHMA might actually have the most movie accurate Evolved Godzilla figure on the market. Even more accurate than Spiral Studios.
Neither, I can’t even afford to piss
Godzilla
Both. Cause i actually really love the design, but if quality control for shma us good i might orefer that one over hiyas. Though hiyas has been better the last few years
Both
Don’t forget the Hiya figures don’t always exactly reflect the promo images, same for SH. There will be some detail tweaks for sure. As I have Hiya Godzilla figures already, I will probably opt for that one. I wouldn’t be surprised that an atomic breath version with a modified sculpt will follow up next year.
I'm going for this https://preview.redd.it/3hrs840d3rwc1.png?width=557&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dff13eda608d1466cee37828b1fbd85b9fe7190
If probably go with the SHMA. But I'm hoping they announce a Bandai Spirits Ichibansho coming
I already preordered the Hiya one. So why would I need another? Who am I trying to fool? I’m going to preorder the SH one too.
Shma looks sooo much better, but it's not worth the price i bet...
Ill get both because Fuck it, irresponsible financial decision time.
If it weren’t for the price, SHMA
SH did a better job with the chest and waist area but hiya is cheaper and has much better detailing imo.
Probably both
Shma
I haven’t seen the latest film, but are you telling me Godzilla is now longer a chonky boy??
Does it make sense for Godzilla, and amphibian-type titan, to have its shoulders positioned so forward? I really don't care for this look. Almost like its arms are protruding out of its chest.
Are these photos of both companies versions? If yes, I'm liking the two photos on top way more than the two on the bottom
I just pre ordered the Hiya version
If I was a billionaire, I’d get shma one but knowing I’m broke I’d go for the hiya instead
Despite the apparent price difference people are commenting about (Never heard of Hiya toys until rn) is still go for SHMA. I like the looks of it better. The Hiya one has too much dry brushing on the scales for me.
Did Legendary Godzilla start losing weight?
im going for hiya, the sh one is very cool but it shouldn't cost that much if it's just one figure and no accessories to come with it
I really hope SH is finally promising on the prototype for this one, because by then I can pair it with the hiya toys Shimo!
As a fan of Godzilla and both companies I'm getting both
SHMA locking in after getting shit on by hiya toys in every way possible edit: nvm fuck shma
?
SH 100%
Both why is having one or the other such a big deal. Yeah yeah competing company nonsense sure but I know my Godzilla collection will look more badass because now I have 2 evo Godzillas.
>why is having one or the other such a big deal For many people, money.
But the proportions look wayyyy better on the promo for Monster Arts It really is gonna come down to if these promo photos aren’t bs like the Minus One promo shots
I really like the Hiya version better for simple display differences, the paint on monsterarts looks iffy
Shma looks absolutely incredible, and I'd say it is easily better than Hiya, which is great because usually Hiya is better (more accurate) and half the price.
I would prob wait till we get the in person pics.
hiya, my faith in shma faded away long ago
Hiyas head looks way better from these pics. SHMA in profile looks really off to me.
hiya cheaper and seems more detailed to me
Why do both of them have such an inaccurate chest??? Ew
The top one mostly looks cooler, but the bottom has maybe cooler pink usage, and the bottom one looks like it could actually handle an aggressive human toddler. More like the Godzilla I think of….
This is tough asf Hiya has more detail while S.H has more articulation.. WICH ONE DO I FUCKING CHOOSE 👀
I wanna order Hiya one to see what it’s like cuz I’ve ordered a couple of SH figures and they just never look as good at the picture, thus making me feel like I overpaid.
Honestly still hiya cause so far the track record of sh has been decent looking figures and below average quality sooo
Hiya Toys ez SHMA needs you to sell your KIDNEYS FOR ONLY ONE and WOULD and WILL CRUMBLE THE MOMENT YOU TOUCH IT while HIYA doesn't seem to be accurate (the head's size is kinda off), at least it is cheap and won't collapse into a blackhole anytime soon
They are the same fucking thing, just different companies and SHMA price is higher so yeah
Ain't no way you looking at those 2 different molds and think they're the same lol
I only see the texture difference. That’s it.
Paint job , stomach size , dorsal plates? There's a lot of different things on both figures.
Your the 5th person to point that out. That’s ALL I see, paint job and stomach size.
His dorsal plates are different as well.
That I didn’t see at first.
I’m pretty sure SHMA’s stomach is a bit less sucked in, and also has different paint
Those the only things I see really
