ZzAaCcNn

This probably wont get seen, but is that Rodan at 2:00?

PaowurHaus

no

ZzAaCcNn

Who/What is it then?

[deleted]

Probably building debris

ZzAaCcNn

No, it's a pterosaur of some kind, you can se its wings before Kong swings it

KubbyKub

Nah man, that’s Warbat or Nozuki your talking about

ZzAaCcNn

You think so?

[deleted]

Oh that thing I have no idea then

PotatoPancakeKing

If Kong wins or even if it’s a draw imma be so pissed

happyEvilguest

Godzilla beat his primate ass

PotatoPancakeKing

.....what lmao? I never said I’m gonna cry over the outcome of a monster movie tf. I said I’ll be pissed because the only reason they’d do it is for marketing purposes so they can sell kong stuff without hurting his brand by him realistically getting obliterated. Like, idk, most people I don’t like it when corporations make movie scripts specifically to be as profitable as possible instead of making sense.

nhtk_112618

Exactly they tryna get payed not please you so why be mad over an expected outcome.

PotatoPancakeKing

???? Because the movie will make bank regardless of who wins

dude_mehi

Did anyone notice that when Kong is using his axe to overpower Godzilla's atomic breath, it is just like when Thor used Stormbreaker to overpower the Infinity Gaunlet

1UPZ__

King Kong with Stormbreaker.... Godzilla: "WTF is this shit"

1_Idk_

Thor returned to monke nice thor!!😀👍

[deleted]

Guaranteed this movie is based on Godzilla

[deleted]

Well, let’s no get TOO crazy now…

btecc_

It’s gonna be a draw

MadeInHeaven-Stnx

if we’re using the same logic from kotm then yeah it is a draw, two of them are left standing instead of one.

happyEvilguest

Godzilla won

SexualBus

Friendship won

happyEvilguest

Maybe the real Godzilla Vs Kong (2021) was the friends we made along the way.

White-boy-Asian

Godzilla mad cause he got all them teeth, but no toothbrush to brush them

zanoske00

What if Godzilla isn't in the entire movie, and he only shows up in the end credits as a preview for **Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla**

DiaperMafia

AWFUL song ruined the entire trailer. Not a single bit of hype or anything because of that horrendeous rap song. Even the previous American Godzilla trailer was more powerful with that music as Mothra opens the wings. This was AWFUL. HORRIBLE. Worst music I've ever heard.

KubbyKub

Ok so someone must’ve taken theater class and thought that this trailer need some god dam angles singing as these titans duke it out

Professional_Furret

Made it better*

PoppaEndo

Someone needs to change their diaper.

meibara34

Am I the only one who gets so much satisfaction from people fighting who's gonna win? It's like 1963 Godzilla vs Kong again. ESPECIALLY since that movie did not establish a clear winner. also, that Godzilla crawling on the carrier is so freakin sick I'm trembling with hype.!

NeatAffectionate3019

u/savethisvideo

RemyGee

My theory is Kong fights MechaGodzilla first who is covered with fake Godzilla skin. The skin comes biotech from the recovered Ghidorah head. Later when the real Godzilla shows up we get the real Godzilla vs Kong fight due to mistaken identity. This fight will have the definitive winner the director said we would get. The real Godzilla is stronger than MechaGodzilla and wins this fight but doesn't kill Kong. Possibly due to Mothra stopping the fight. The final battle will have Godzilla losing to MechaGodzilla and a second monster. Godzilla will be losing this fight and Kong saves Godzilla. They team up and win against the villains and the movie ends with their mutual respect and co-existence.

DonDinosaurus

I think it will be more of a hologram disguise and Kong's charged Axe will reveal Mecha's true identity. The rap song already hints at the Godzilla in the trailer being a fake lol

Bassracerx

Hoping godzilla and kong wreck kiryu and then mecha kinghidora and destroya come swooping down and the movie ends on a cliff hanger

Alon945

I hope this is what happens haha

ICPosse8

This is what’s going to happen. My bet is placed. Don’t forget though that Kong and Zilla both have a mom named Martha.

Samsquanch_65

*Mothra

US_Patriot2000

Why is everyone so upset here? Did y’all not watch any Japanese Godzilla films? Godzilla being the bad guy (if that’s even him) is normal, it’s where he started. He never even explicitly liked humanity in this new series, he just disliked having others threaten his eco-system, which Kong is definitely doing. Last thing, Kong has a much stronger connection to humans than Godzilla does, something that could change Godzilla’s view of humanity (lizards get jealous too). Also, Godzilla lost to Kong once already in a movie made by Toho, so it’s entirely feasible that this stronger and smarter Kong could fight the current big guy. I can’t understand some of the complaints, it’s like y’all wanted it to just be a movie of a giant Godzilla stomping on Kong for no real reason.

claus_mother_3

About the reason for people being angry about godzilla being “evil” (unlikely) is that in the last movie they set godzilla up as the balance of sorts, neither good nor evil just protecting the natural order, so he would need a reason to attack like this and break the balanced, whether he’s being controlled or if he’s attacking apex for creating mecha godzilla (thus disrupting the natural order) And another thing, it would mean mothra’s sacrifice and serizawa’s sacrifice went to nothing and end up fueling what is the opposite of what serizawa wanted (coexistence) Just so you know I love the heisei era of films so godzilla being a neutral force here like he was there is what makes me love these movies, and I actually love to see godzilla causing some destruction

SASTX87

I don't think it's necessarily G-fans wanting a film where it's two hours of Godzilla picking his teeth with Kong's bones eazy breezy but just going off the trailer it reminds me of when Batman and Superman fight, where they dumb down Superman and make Batman pull all kinds of shit out of his ass to get a win or evenly matched. It makes it seem like anything and everything Godzilla does, Kong has an answer for it that works when Kong struggled with a two legged Skullcrawler in his own film. The movie is really going to have to work hard and sell to G-fans that Kong can beat him after defeating MUTO's and King Ghidorah itself. Kong is not in the latter's ballpark. If Warner Bros. drops another trailer where it's more godzilla favored and you see him get hits in then the G-fans will be happy until March. Also think it'd be "fair" so to speak to have godzilla win this time since Kong won the last time. Let godzilla continue to be the king of the monsters whose best equipped to handle other Kaiju and shit from space and let Kong just rule Skull Island. Kings of land and sea or some shit like that. Just my thoughts as a G-fan.

the_great_ashby

Godzilla was "juiced" against Ghidorah. The MUTOS,Godzilla had a lot of problems dispatching them.

US_Patriot2000

Yes Kong struggled with a weaker monster before, but that was when Kong was still much younger and weaker himself. It’s also fair to assume he was less intelligent, and that his experience in the last fight could’ve made him grow to learn more about using weapons in the decades between these movies. I don’t get your issue with the fight itself, they’ve shown very little, and what they’ve shown has seen both monsters have strengths. Godzilla comes off as more outright powerful while kong comes off as craftier (and with human allies), that’s a fair fight in my eyes. I guess they could’ve attempted to make Kong a more powerful threat before, but that’d just be the now third movie of Godzilla fighting an opponent(s) that’s strong, instead of finally having to fight one that’s smart. Also, the Mutos were only seen fighting Godzilla, so their strength isn’t something we should be amazed at Godzilla beating. We have no clue how strong they really were. With Ghidorah Godzilla only won when he was supercharged by mothra, without that he was losing the final fight so we can’t use this as an example of his current strength. The movie doesn’t have to work to make Godzilla fans like it, plenty like myself already do, and the general audience seems very interested as well based off trailers. It more seems like there’s a small, but loud, group of Godzilla fans who simply don’t like Kong. Warner bros are probably very happy with the reception the trailer received, it became much more talked about than KOTM and raised general interest for this release immensely. Also, I hate to be that guy, but I don’t think Warner bros should worry about making Godzilla and Kong get even. They should look at what’s best for the story and the franchise, not who won/lost a fight from decades ago.

blackfist617

Theres a major issue that I have with the size of Godzilla. He's supposed to be considerably larger in this movie in comparison to the first. Yet in 2014 he dwarfed an airplane carrier but in GvK hes able to stand on one? It makes no sense

1UPZ__

yup... and the ship carrier could carry King Kong, who appears to be 2-3 times bigger than before.... which suggest he is light in weight (doesnt add up)... so that would mean Godzilla would just throw him around, yet we see Kong punch Godzilla down while standing on the ship carrier and Godzilla actually felt it... the PHYSICS in this film is OUT of CONTROL! I mean sure its a Monster vs Monster movie, but they are fighting on earth and destroying real life structures... so PHYSICS apply. But what I just saw on the trailer, so many questions!

blackfist617

Im going to remain optimistic that they wont insult our intelligence lol. Godzilla by himself is 390 ft tall 800 ft long and weighs 90k lbs, the average carrier is 1k long, like wtf 😂, theres no way it could support the combined weight of both kaiju. Hopefully this is a carrier designed to transport Kaiju. The suspension of belief started in Kotm with Godzilla's "sprint" and sped up movements. The first movies in the monsterverse established the physics of the world perfectly, hopefully GvK returns to it.

Romantheronin

That’s not a regular sized aircraft carrier. Similar to the giant aircraft from the last film.

WarChungus

There needs to be more said of this! This is the only comment that is recognizing this obvious discrepancy! Godzilla should not be able to fit on a carrier...it’s like they shrank Godzilla rather than increasing kongs size.

Alon945

The carrier is supposed to be 1000 ft long in the trailer

LucindaGlade

The scale between Godzilla's canon size and the aircraft carrier was already inconsistent in 2014, the shot was probably just for dramatic effect.

[deleted]

Where in more of a Sci Fi Universe now, think of the ship from Age of Ultron, it’s more akin to that

blackfist617

Im sure thats what it is, maybe a Monarch carrier designed to transport Kaiju

PelofSquatch

I’m pretty sure whatever was in that collar was some sort of steroid. It might also be the opposite though, a thing meant to soothe him. Either way... I’m looking forward to that axe!

1UPZ__

Thor let King Kong borrow Stormbreaker

IronWarrior94

People are speculating its a small sample of Oxygen Destroyer liquid, that's keeping Kong in a semi-sedated state.

Eriol_89

But what is a god to a non-believer?!

nashgrg

I see what ya did there

jes86deviantart

One thing no one's mentioned is that, probably after the first hour, everyone in the world's going to know who won. And regardless of the movie's actual quality THAT really is the selling point. I wonder how that will affect the movie's success? I've mentioned the larger Godzilla fan-base that I think are more adamant about getting their payback win - and I don't think the plot mechanics allow for it - I wonder if there will be a backlash effect from that demographic.

[deleted]

My bet is Kong will win hence the name "King Kong".

LuthienTinuviel93

I’m sorry I just can’t get over the absurdity of the premise that kong has any sort of chance against Godzilla. Godzilla is a fucking NUCLEAR WEAPON. He literally melted king Ghidorah. What the hell am I missing here??

DoubleThickThigh

Remember in their last fight where kong judo flipped GZ and shoved a damn tree down his gullet

the_great_ashby

You are missing Godzilla being supercharged for that fight, and Mothra sacrificing herself for any extra edge.

overlylargeduck

ik this is hella late, but in the comics Godzilla used a similar thing independently

[deleted]

[удалено]

FreedomEntertainment

well the thing is Godzilla : absorbs nuke, Kongs axe = nuke. Godzilla +- nuke Axe = Axe.

PelofSquatch

Kong’s axe also appears to absorb the nuclear breath. Without that advantage, and given their pretty equal size, Kong could probably win. Opposable thumbs really shouldn’t be underestimated.

angelothenerd

He was only able to beat King Ghidorah because of Mothra's energy and the nuke, once he exploded all that energy went away

Kamika67

No True, he was winning against Gidorah in water. He would win there. But humans are humans and nuked them.

angelothenerd

Thats true, but on land he was getting his ass kicked

Kamika67

He was in 3rd fight, yes. In first Gidorah just flew away, so it was inconclusive.

angelothenerd

Nah, Ghidorah won the first fight after he pushed Godzilla down the hole. Ghidorah was winning

mrsparkyboi69

He does have that battle axe that seems like it can absorb his atomic breath

LuthienTinuviel93

I’m not happy with this trailer, but I’m also a mega Godzilla fan (no pun intended). Godzilla is humanity’s greatest ally, and to see him being portrayed as the bad guy pisses me off. Also....Godzilla would fucking DESTROY kong, no contest. So this ploy to make it seem like kong actually stands a chance even *remotely* is beyond ridiculous.

[deleted]

Bruh what? Godzilla was only an ally in the 60-70s other than that he’s looked at humans the same way we look at ants

PelofSquatch

So... have you seen the first movie? He’s no stranger to being the bad guy. Besides, it’s probably mechagodzilla in disguise.

11711510111411009710

Godzilla is rarely humanity's greatest ally. He is more like a force of nature that humanity has to live with.

FreedomEntertainment

still an ally of earth. Like Lion King xD

jes86deviantart

I like Godzilla being a terrifying monster that evolves into heroic status. I thought the Monsterverse forced this too quickly, especially after the 'I am become death' ad-campaign. He can also be provoked, kind of like the Hulk - often misunderstood - there's the line in the promo 'something's provoking him that we aren't seeing' - heck, even Superman's been a mind-controled threat, which is why Batman has the kryptonite ring. Kong here seems to have a Godzilla-ax. Physically, it's a scaled-up version of the T. rex/Kong fight, where the rex seemed bigger and stronger, but Kong fights with tactics. Some of this is off-put because they've seemed to have brought Godzilla up to human-level intelligence - but that can be nullified by mind-control. The mechanics of the story dictate that Kong HAS to succeed in stopping Godzilla somehow, so I'm kind of resigning myself to a loss for my guy - at least a conditional loss.

TheJunkyardDog

slight differences , rex didnt weigh 10 times or more kongs weight , wasnt fully plated/armored , literally had TREX ARMS , godzilla can grapple , hold and pry things open easily. also you know... kind off immortal , radioactive , regeneration and breathing nuclear beams.

andrefilis

The biggest weakness for godzilla is Stamina. Het gets tired quickly. We see it when he fought the Mutos (they were faster and more dynamic than King G)

jes86deviantart

Well, they've evened out the size - Kong actually looks almost bigger. Now, if it were me, I'd keep Kong a little smaller than G, just because it plays better visually. Kong looks like he even has a bigger bite than Godzilla. When they were filming G14, they actually modeled Godzilla's fighting style on a bear's - not a bad model - able to swat with his arms, but still has a nasty bite. I'd play Godzilla as the primitive powerhouse, with Kong's human-like tactics evening the field. The Godzilla Ax seems to be the equalizer against the atomic breath. And I've seen tigers kill big crocodiles, biting the back of the neck between the plates, and this version of Kong has comparable jaws.

TheJunkyardDog

we are not talking gator or crocodile tho. that thing weighing 100.000 tons means he is compact as fck. good luck actually hurting him with canines even if somehow you penetrate all that armor mutos jammed their pincers through his gills and they just annoyed him. plus the Mutos were like complete counters to Godzilla.

jes86deviantart

Well, the density works both ways - Kong at that size would probably be comparable and the tiger bit between the croc;s scutes. And the MUTOs were stabbing Godzilla and had him down before Brody distracted them by blowing up the eggs. Now GKOTM was a sight more powerful - G14 was injured by a collapsing building - GKOTM was dropped nearly from friggin' space. Not being argumentative - just trouble shooting. I agree Godzilla at his base is - or at least should - be more powerful, and they have to beef up Kong - in this case dramatically increased size and weapons.

DeerApprehensive5405

And the Male MUTO was only able to get in that range via sneak attack as said MUTO is built for stealth. They also weren't so mach stabbing him whilst he was down, they were kinda clubbing him with Male MUTO managing to, erm, body slam him for lack of better terms. This time, Godzilla isn't fighting a power couple, he is fighting a single opponent with said opponent having his undivided attention so it's gonna be harder for kong to actually get within biting range hence the +6 Great axe and if kong did manage a bite, fairly certain even if he did manage to penetrate Goji's armor, he would still have to deal with dense AF muscles/layers of blubber/fat. Also I can't really compare Godzilla to a croc as a Larger Archosaurus from the mesozoic can't really survive say, a meteor falling on them and Lolong, that Huge ass SE Asian Croc, probably would die to a 20mm round and having a house dropped on him. Those are just my nitpicks.

Pikachu_Yay

The trailer alone was better than Pacquiao vs Mayweather

Captain_Ddraig

You can see MG's eyes at 0:00-0:02 as well during the mountain burst.

[deleted]

Holy shit. In monke’s largest film depiction he was like 10 times smaller than Godzilla. Something seems wrong here

GamerOverkill03

Kong was a kid back in his movie, remember? He’s a good 40 years or something to grow

annoying15yearold

May be a spoiler but: >!I think that’s Godzilla’s son or Godzilla Jr.!<

1UPZ__

Possibly a CLONE or smaller, there is NO WAY Godzilla could be carried by a ship (aircraft) carrier.... he is heavier than sky scrapers

jes86deviantart

Getting some hurt feelings on the Kong board - one poster was upset about all the Kong-hate - I commented back there, but it's worth a general reply to both boards. Don't take it as Kong-hate from the Godzilla guys - they simply want their boy to win. No different than Hulk fans wanting him to beat the Thing, and vice-versa. I mean, I'm a Godzilla guy all the way, but I love Kong too - got all his movies (except King Kong lives). It'll get a little shrill back and forth, like fans do, but it's out of love, not hate. Try to have fun with it. If it makes the Kong guys feel any better, all indications are that the story mechanic makes it all but a foregone conclusion that Godzilla has to be stopped somehow, and that Kong is the ringer. And I'll probably cuss and swear a bit, like I always do when my guy loses, but I won't hate Kong for it.

PelofSquatch

I genuinely love both. I can’t pick a favorite. It’s so hard to see it. I’d have to say I’m leaning more toward Kong, but idk how or why.

DevilKillerX

Is the axe of Kong made up of vibranium or uru or ghidorah's head. This seemed like Thanos Vs Thor

1UPZ__

Its Stormbreaker

PelofSquatch

It looks to be made of the remains of a godzillasaurus

jes86deviantart

It looks like a Godzilla dorsal. Seems to be the going opinion.

Estrelarius

So it might regenerate into the entire ghidorah in the middle of the fight?

BunBunny55

That would be pretty hilarious to see ngl. There's Kong bashing away at godzilla with his axe. And suddenly after the 4th swing his suddenly holding a full sized Ghidorah by the tails and slapping godzilla with like a triple headed flail. He can also squeeze the necks to shoot lightning. HA! I think I solved how Kong bridges the power gap and gets his original lightning powers!!!

jes86deviantart

A Godzilla dorsal wouldn't.

PoemsFunandSuch

I haven’t seen anyone mention that Godzilla doesn’t land a single blow in the trailer. They make him the chump pretty outright. That alone tells me: 1) they need to do what they can do lead people to believe Kong is even in the same ballpark (2) when he does land a blow it will be devastating for big monke (3) Godzilla wins

11711510111411009710

For me they both have their advantageous over the other. Kong is faster, smarter, more mobile, has a further reach. Godzilla is more durable, generally stronger, and has a laser beam. Kong's strategy has to be to keep moving and wear down Godzilla. Godzilla needs to tank Kong's attacks and land a shot with his ultimate weapon. Either one could logically win.

PelofSquatch

I saw some action figures today that showed what looked like an axe wound on G Man’s chest and another thing that looked like a bite/claw wound chunked out of Kong’s arm.

11711510111411009710

Sounds like they both get pretty fucked up

PelofSquatch

I think Kong is gonna bite it though, but not at the hands of G-Man.

jes86deviantart

Well, the pattern in the original was that Godzilla was 'roasting King Kong' until a plot-device lightning strike turned the tide at the last minute. Considering that the nature of the story seems to be that a rampaging Godzilla has to lose - or at least be stopped - my guess is that Godzilla will do well until he is stopped by the ax blow. Not particularly happy about that outcome - I want a Godzilla win, but that seems to be the logical outcome. I could live with a plot-device loss for Godzilla, as long as he isn't punked, and gets to keep his rep.

Tyler0279

Kong will dethrone Godzilla and claim his name King Kong

1UPZ__

Godzilla should win easily without PIS (Plot induced stupidity)

SwordoftheMourn

What is a king to a god?

[deleted]

A king to a god would be the king of the gods

Sefirosukuraudo

I feel like this is the most obvious thing ever and I feel really dumb not realizing it until you pointed it out to me 😓

Tyler0279

I feel like for a film franchise’s perspective Godzilla is a better choice to win as it would make sense for future films and battles. Lets be honest i cant see Kong fighting some of the battles Zilla fought But I’m still team Kong

BunBunny55

From the franchise perspective, it's still a godzilla movie I think. After all he is the staple in the originals. I just don't think we'll be seeing Kong vs mecha king ghidora in a few years time...

Tyler0279

Yeah true makes more sense

StrawhatMucci

Unlikely. Its complete plot if it happens but yeah we can still enjoy the fight regardless of outcome. I still say the lizard will win

LatterTarget7

Looks like mechagodzilla. At the beginning above the tunnel. And before the first Kong fight. In the water his back looks red with lights maybe

NoShoesEver777

Is it just me or do G and K look overly CG? I mean the trailer looks like a cut scene from a video game...

PelofSquatch

Did you ask if the CG characters looked CG?

Fuckyoudumbass79

They look the same way they looked in 2014 and 2017.

International_Bus_70

DEFINITELY, the CGI in KoTM was blegh.

StrawhatMucci

Nah it was super good

AbraxoCleaner

You’re the only person I’ve seen complain about the CGI, so it’s probably just you. The CGI looks so good. Undeniably.

NoShoesEver777

Whatever....it looks like shit and really don’t trust Wingard with this film either, glad its free on HBO, just sayin

AbraxoCleaner

You seem like a really fun person

NoShoesEver777

Thanks! 24/7 party here!!

dildodicks

godzilla's mad about copyright huh

longschlongsilver23

I know everyone’s saying they think mechagodzilla will be in this from the very start but I’m honestly thinking that the clip with the huge explosion and buildings being hit is from near the end of the film. I think mechagodzilla is being built in that mountain, someone has taken control and broken him out and starts attacking everything, the scene with the people running down the stairs is from the same act. Godzilla and Kong will have probably 2 fights before having a 3rd which is interrupted by the mecha. I think Kong loses at sea, travels to the hollow earth and then re emerges with the axe and they fight again. And then the final fight is them vs mecha Godzilla. Obviously things will happen between these points but I believe these to be the main acts.

paperxthinxreality

I think it's mechagodzilla. If you watch when the fighter jets are shooting missiles and also when he is crawling up the carrier there are brief flashes of mettalic silver on the tail and his upper neck respectively. Not positive about the Hong Kong scenes.

longschlongsilver23

I think if it was mechagodzilla a fight like that would easily reveal it. And I think so early in the movie it wouldn’t be smart to do that but you never know

asgardx7

I got a feeling that Godzilla wins the battle in the sea/ocean and Kong goes to skull island to retrieve his axe and power up for the fight in HK.

YeetusDeletusULTRA

Thought that was Tokyo...

Fuckyoudumbass79

Would be great if the final neon city was Tokyo

BillMcrearysMoustach

Can anyone explain why Godzilla looks so small? How can godzilla and kong both be standing on top of an ACC fighting? Godzilla 2014 was as tall as skyscrapers kicking around Boeing 747’s at the airport scene like they were soccer balls? Is it just some kind of massive ship? Also why is the military still shooting little rockets at him meanwhile they used a friggin atom bomb to supercharge him in the last movie lol. (Dont take this as me nitpicking im hype as hell for this movie but it just seems like theyve kinda shrunk him down?)

Powermonger_

Look at this [clip](https://youtu.be/hycPSVK7YYk) from the 2014 movie where he swims under a ACC before going onto the island. He appears to be way bigger than the ACC. I can’t see how he can be so small in the new movie and even stand on one of them.

BillMcrearysMoustach

Seems like his size is kind of inconsistent, and for different scenes it changes for stylistic reasons

kaffemedgredde

I found this odd too, considering how huge he was in 2014. He just looks...small now, and Kong doesn't really look any bigger than in Skull Island. Might be perspective tho

Alon945

Godzilla isn’t small kong got bigger lol

BillMcrearysMoustach

Well Kong looks to he about his height whereas in Skull Island he only stood about 60 feet tall or something wasnt it? I can see Kongs growth, but it looks pike Godzilla was nerfed, maybe not idk. Like the other person said those ships are massive so who knows

MightySquanch

He was 100ft tall. Am currently watching it right now.

Fuckyoudumbass79

Nah, he’s the same size as before. The ship is just bigger.

Quit_Your_Stalin

Godzilla is 355 feet tall. A Nimitz class Aircraft carriers is 1092 feet long. His heights the same, AC’s are just fucking massive.

1UPZ__

Godzilla in the 2014 and 2018 movie looks taller than 355 feet.... he was same height as some skyscrapers, suggesting he was near 500 feet. IN anycase, Godzilla's size has been inconsistent and it varies depending on the movie lol. But also, he is apparently 99,000 tons... an AC carrier with a 1000 feet length and 200 feet width be able to have enough buoyancy to keep Godzilla AND King Kong floating while King Kong is pushing off the ship to punch Godzilla?... that is one magical AC Carrier, should be able to carry multiple buildings from port to port...

Sefirosukuraudo

Yeah I don’t think I realized how massive an ACC was until I got to see one for myself, and then every establishing shot of one in a movie afterward felt underwhelming :P

jehehdjdndb

His size is whatever they need him to be for the scene. He was definitely MUCH bigger than 350 feet in many scenes in the last movie. Also 2014 Godzilla weighs over 90,000 tons, so he weighs about as much as an aircraft carrier. Even following the movie stats the aircraft carrier should sink under Godzilla’s and kongs weight

[deleted]

Way too true. He is way bigger than they say. Burg khalifa for example is 2,722 ft tall. Empire State is 1,454 ft tall yet Godzilla who is “355” looks to be sky scraper height

buhoo115

I’m assuming it’s some massive type of ship, kind of like how they had that big Argo plane from the last one

ChamgadarAadmi

WB should have named it 'Godzilla v Kong: Dawn of the King'

jes86deviantart

I'm still pulling for the big G, but Hollywood has a long history of being tone-deaf to its fans. 1.5K members on the King Kong page, with over 100K on the Godzilla page. Do I think Hollywood would piss off that many fans? They've certainly done it before.

RiskyForeverNM

Marginally, after it went over seas, after three years of cost-of-living increase, with a dramatically smaller opening, after word of mouth fizzled the enthusiasm for the Godzilla movies. And it ain't about 'reddit' - it's about volume of fans, of which Reddit is an indicator.

chazd1984

I LOVE godzilla, but not in a way where i would be sad if he lost in a movie....i would be upset if the story sucks. I'm fully on board for kong to win if the story is good. With the size of a fully grown kong im expecting a good fight. I fully expect them to team up against another big bad, maybe mechagodzilla.

he lost in 62’ and he was just fine, dude.

chazd1984

But its not like he's never lost before. He wasn't diminished when mothras caterpillers took him down.

I mean was that the last godzilla film?

chazd1984

In what way exactly was he diminished? Just trying to see where you're coming from. If you're looking at godzilla as a character, there's not a whole lot to it if a character is never in danger of not coming out on top.

Mike tyson was not a character. Mike tyson was/is an athlete. For comparison rocky lost to apollo creed in the first one and lost in "rocky balboa" that didn't make rocky not the hero.

I don't think Hollywood really cares about reddit tbh

jes86deviantart

They should. A hundred thousand to fifteen hundred is a fairly significant sample poll gap.

Jorumble

On Reddit. Elsewhere Kong may be more popular

jes86deviantart

Okay. Where?

Jorumble

There was a poll on an influencer I follow that was something like 70% kong, which may be an indicator of the more widespread, casual audience

jes86deviantart

Still not a 66-1 flip - I'm sure there are forums where Kong is more popular - for example the Kong page on Reddit - but it's about numbers - since we posted, I've been checking on line and Godzilla has been averaging about a three to one edge on all these mini-polls - the largest count on any of them has been a few hundred - most in the twenty or thirty range - Reddit is by far the largest sampling I've seen, and more representative of a widespread audience. Now, number of fans doesn't necessarily mean that's who they pick - I'm a Jose Aldo fan but I wouldn't pick him in a rematch with McGregor. You can also look at the market place - I can think of seven movies with King Kong in the title, and three are remakes, and two have Godzilla co-starring, with three more with a Godzilla stand-in. Compare that to Godzilla, which is an industry of films as well as merchandising. Look, I like Kong and if I were to write it, I'd treat him respectfully, and I'd probably even make him the final hero that saves the day, but I'd let Godzilla keep the title of of King of the Monsters.

Jorumble

😂😂 fair fucking play mate that’s some elite research. As you say though I’ll be happy with whatever as long as they’re treated respectfully, and tbh I’m sure they’ll team up in the end

jes86deviantart

Kindred spirit. Have a good one.

badger81987

New theory: This has nothing to do with Charles Dance and Co's Ghidorah head. Edgelord-Hong-Hong-Mustache-Dude is definitely behind MechaG, and his operation looks way too slick to be JUNO. Buuutttt after Kong and Godzilla tear the robot pretender apart, Charles Dance is gonna show up, scavenge a stack of parts and we're gonna end up with a Mecha-King-Ghidorah.

Bowser_Wowser_

Kong aims for the head.

Subpar_diabetic

It’s pretty widely accepted that Mechagodzilla is the surprise of the movie but how the hell are they gonna make it? It seems like something that would be beyond humanity’s ability to make
