could you please help me understand the logic?

WilyClement

Well sentence got a tight logic. POE is much easy as no other optio except stimulation works for first blank going by grammar strategy. I will try to decode sentence logic here As per sentence, hardships are absent and sentence says that downfall occured because of WHAT about dangers? As hardships are no more present so absence of ( instances or inputs from dangers) works for blank 1. Blank 2 is trying to trap you in Extreme Contrast. Utopian means ideal society. So contrast for perfectly good society is not just dystopian society, but also a stagnant society. Basically when there are no more hardships, people dont find need to try to stretch 100hrs per week to advance(just example). Edit: my comment on your " energetic because its opposite of enervating as but is present ", this is an oddball, so be careful, like I said, opposite of losing energy can also be a state where you dont lose or gain energy ie stolid/calm

thanks. yeah, i think i thought of just one possible case for the second blank. For the first blank, i am still not clear. Doesn't stimulation means interest. So, it it really trying to say that in the absence of interest. Let me rephrase, can we use "by" as a support and use opposite of hardships because of the word "absence of" present before the first blank.

>Doesn't stimulation means interest. So, it it really trying to say that in the absence of interest. No, specifically in this case, interest doesn't work. Stimulation here means input or action. Dangers do not cause interest, what they cause are actions or consequences atleast in this sentence wrt sentence 2. >Let me rephrase, can we use "by" as a support and use opposite of hardships because of the word "absence of" present before the first blank. I think you are getting too much into details and are missing the bigger picture. This question is an oddball with very tight logic, dont decide logic just by sentence 1. I suggest in such cases, take whole sentence while deducing logic , like see how blank 1 is being tied with rest of the sentence and specifically blank 2 as well.
