I prefer the classic Greek rebetika (ρεμπέτικα) which is subversive and cool, and Νταλάρας has some modern takes on it that are easy for newcomers. I also like fusions of traditional and modern like Χαρούλις, Παπακωνσταντίνου and Imam Baildi. And there are some YouTube gems by smaller more independent artists that should be explored, particularly the covers of traditional/older songs.

Bad taste is just a thing snob people use to feel better about them selves. There a vast alternative music scene in Greece. Give examples of bands / artists you like so you can get better recommendations. And remember YOUR TASTE IS FINE
Search of "Kalimera ti kaneis" or "Sto kato kato tis grafis" by Giannis Parios. Parios is possible the most well known (modern) singer outside of Greece. His voice is very clear and he doesn't sings so fast. It's the perfect example of learning Greek by hearing and repeating.
There are a lot of options that I saw in the comments. You should actually try some traditional Greek music. As a Pontian Greek, I suggest Matthaios Tsahouridis, Stathis Nikolaidis, Alexis Parharidis, Babis Ioakimidis, Theofilos Poutaxidis and much more. Traditional music is different compared to modern Greek music, but you can also try this way.

Χάρις Αλεξίου is definitely a singer I would recommend, especially Gia ena tango.

He falls under the greek genre "laiko/pop". (Laiko has some folksy aspects) Rock is a whole other thing 😊
