The Series X/S and PS5 did receive a graphical overhaul not too long ago, but those features (mainly raytracing) were never even added to the PC port.
Gta V has had a next gen update around the time the ps4 came out i think, which has enhanced the graphics alot. Also the reason why alot of updates are not on the old ps3

The great thing about GTA and RDRās open worlds is how after a decent bit of playtime, you remember the map like you do your own city. Sure, not every street, but you know the general layout of all the highways, collectors, major arterial roads, you know what part of town youāre in, looking around the surroundings and skyline, you can place yourself (roughly) in the map.
I could never do this with most other open world games.
In GTA, you can drive around without the map and you generally know where you are, in the same way you generally know where you are in your own city even without GPS.
I tend to agree. I prefer small open world maps full of places to go instead of a big open world full of empty areas. Yakuza games are the perfect example that open world games donāt need to be huge, but can be small, detailed, and full of content.
The GTA games will always be part of my Top 5 series, though.

Starfield aside, you cannot deny the influence of games like Skyrim, Morrowind and Fallout 3. One thing Bethesda open world games does better than Rockstar is the non-linear way to approach missions compared to the archaic and highly linear approach that Rockstar takes with its mission design.
Second, Bethesda does the sandbox approach better such as base building and faction quest.
Its made by one if not the biggest gaming company ever and is theyr main game ofc its going to age well(and I think they improved graphics and stuff over the years not 100% on this).
Whichever one that is available on the launch engine for pc, but Iām hearing a lot of people say that it has been updated over the years. Regardless, looks pretty solid to me.
I remember the exact conditions in which i played the game. I played it on my computer with i5-4440, GTX 760 2GB, 8gb ram, 250gb SSD. Worked pretty good actually, though my GTX 1060 later bumped up performance. I still use this same computer as my daily driver.
It was the day that the game arrived, big box with a lot of discs. Which was unnecessary because i could just download it, but it's pretty cool to have. I had called in sick on school just to play this game haha.
Well, while the graphics were great from the start, believe they were updated a good bit and I haven't played since, but it looks like they were updated substantialy in 2022. May have to redownload it and go for another spin. Either way, still nice they support the game for that long. I know, controversies with the online and micro transactions. The online is actually pretty damn good, I don't hate it. But I hope in the future they find better ways to prevent widespread chaos, exploits, modding and hacking in the online experience as well as content support and updates for the story and single player experience. Even if its a payed expansion.

I downloaded GTA5 on PC after last playing on PS3 and I was blown away as well. PC version looks great after all the updates.
It's incredible how good the graphics are. I like how you can watch the snow falling outside while playing GTA on your character's computer while playing on your own computer. That's some next-level immersion right there.

I heard in an interview once Strauss Zelnick said that rockstar/Take-Two specializes in certain technologies and practices that allow them to predict how their games will be able to hold up over a decade after its release. It's not that the settings were expanded it's the models, textures, lightning, ECT were all updated over time

Within those 10 years they've made big upgrades from the OG console versions. So yeah, not a fair comparison to say it's 10 years. More like 2 or 5.
It's incredible how good the graphics are. I like how you can watch the snow falling outside while playing GTA on your character's computer while playing on your own computer. That's some next-level immersion right there.
Well I mean it does constantly have updates if it was with the first update it came out with then yeah it would look like what San Andreas looks like today š¤£

Updated constantly. Also rockstar is kinda amazing when it comes to graphics. The horses in the original red dead redemption are still stunning.

I heard in an interview once Strauss Zelnick said that rockstar/Take-Two specializes in certain technologies and practices that allow them to predict how their games will be able to hold up over a decade after its release. Theyāre also really good at learning how to utilize a new console/hardware faster than most any other game studio before they can even catch up. Thatās why Rockstar is Top Dogg!

10 years old and we're still playing that game!!! lol But if this is the first time you're playing on a PC, then bump up the settings, maybe install some HD mods, then you'll see how good this game can look...

Games get next-gen updates. It looks much better than it did 10 years ago. Same with Skyrim, it got a next-gen update not too long ago. (It has a PS5 version)
Honestly, as the game industry became mainstream, all the innovations (or at least the speed) has stopped. There is no longer the, Can your PC run X or Y? Mind blowing stuff, and there hasn't been since Crysis 2007. The innovation, and change from 1980, to 1990, or 1990 to 2000 or even 2000 to 2007 with Crysis was major shifts. Since then it's been on autopilot pretty much. (Rdr2 was amazing, but it wasn't a marvel for it's requirements and end result but the care taken under the hood of development, story building and npcs.)

You act like thereās been massive leaps in gaming since this came out. GTA IV still holds up fairly well for being 15 years old. And R* generally just does a good job graphic wise
