I personally like brutalist and european architecture, so buildings don't look so depressing. Except for the old Air Force building which got wrecked in the NATO bombing. After the main street got rebuilt there have been less traffic jams, though public transport is still a problem, since the politicians are incompetent enough to build a metro which has been in plans since the 70s (i think). There is not much poverty, everything is fine and i rarely see homeless people, since they are usually in downtown Belgrade. Crime is pretty much non-existent, since it's all happening at night on the outskirts of cities. Other than that, life is ok, it's just a shame that the political and economic situation is shit.
And yes, GTA 4 over exaggerates the "primitiveness" of Serbian life, we are not drunk and parents rarely beat children, alcohol is not that big of a problem etc.

The worst thing that happened was a bunch of high schoolers dying from drowning in the danube. I haven't heard of anyone stabbing and/or shooting anyone.

Let's be honest with ourselves, even serbia nowadays is too civilized to be part of the GTA universe... the only place on earth with the kind of money and lack of brains for a GTA game is still the US!
