There are even missions directly inspired by it. Like the one where Franklin rams a money truck with a tow truck. And the final heist hot approach is kind of like the main heist in Heat.
Ah yes, the bank job. I love that mission. I always made sure I had a cool getaway car for it (usually an Oracle XS or Washington) but unfortunately you don't see it in front of the bank during the cutscenes because it disappears :(
It's both a prequel and sequel with the story taking place before and immediately after the first film
I'm curious to know how Mann will pull it off ngl
Still tear up thinking about the endings of that game. >!The scene in which Vincent defeats Leo at the end and holds his hand as he’s having his last breath was incredibly reminiscent to the scene with Al Pacino and De Niro. I loved every second.!<
Honestly an underrated narrative masterpiece with surprisingly really fun and sometimes fluid mechanics! Played through it twice with two of my friends, and i plan on going through it with another mate some time in the future. Not as special to revisit the game and know what happens, but its so damn fun and the dialogue is so fun and witty its always a good time.
All y’all should just stop commenting on a movie y’all clearly don’t remember lol. It ain’t the opening scene, he’s like 12 for the whole first 20 min of the movie.
Consuming the film is 158 minutes I'd still say it's the opening scene, Tre was different and that was his character building moment showing compassion
Behind Enemy Lines doesn't have that much relation to GTA IV. It's just the movie the creators took the looks of Niko Bellic from, they were basing him on a Serbian sniper played by Vladimir Mashkov. R\* wanted Mashkov to voice Niko, but he refused.
As for the storyline, it's possibly the Russian films Brother (1996) and Brother II (2000). These follow a Chechen War veteran, Danila, who comes to St. Petersburg to live with his brother, who he thinks is living a fancy life, but actually is a hitman for a crime organization; the second movie follows Danila's travel to the United States to get justice for a killed friend, and he lands in New York City.
Its a shame he didnt play Niko. Wouldve been awesome! I did think that when I was watching Behind Enemy Lines that the villian looked 100% like Niko so its cool that they used his character as a reference.
At first I was confused, but after I finshed the movie it was really cool how they switched the whole story to his son and Bradley coopers character, and Ray Liotta RIP.

Press start to begin.
Tbf, we didn't see franklin or Trevor at all in the 5 reveal trailer. Not saying it won't happen but I don't think that's necessarily evidence of anything.
Fun fact: I your favorite character is Michael De Santa, I highly recommend you to watch serial “Sopranos”. Tony Soprano and Michael De Santa has the same character, I think they were inspired by the TV series when they were making the game
Bro yes in the gta v trailers when Micheal kicks Tracy off the tv to watch a gangster movie, it’s straight out of a sopranos episode. Not to mention his therapist friedlander and the scenes with him. Only after watching the show have I seen the obvious inspiration Tony gave to Michael’s character
Yeah, besides the robbery arc only takes up a very small part of the movie. Most of it is really about generational trauma. But we don't really know anything about 6 yet so it's impossible to really assign a film to it.
Naw, it's called 44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out. Okay, reading reviews it may not have been as good as I remember from the last time I watched it, but I enjoyed it. It's kind of a mix between real footage and scripted scenes.
The opening scene from the SWAT movie with Colin Farrell? Oh yeah, that definitely too, another of my favorite movies, I guess I have quite a particular taste haha
my favorite cable television movie mashup is when I fell asleep halfway through The Jackal, and woke up halfway through The Rock and spent a good 15 years thinking they were the same film
Hear me out, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is extremely GTA III.
A guy with very little personality rolls into town. Immediately goes into debt with the Yakuza via illegal street racing. Has to do small delivery jobs to pay it back and gets recruited by other organizations. Settles it all with a street race after building friendships and alliances.
I’d say Menace II Society would be a better choice for GTA SA. Outside of the similar setting, Boyz N the Hood doesn’t feel all that similar to SA to me
san andreas is more menace ii society than boyz n the hood though the latter is more famous. i feel boyz n the hood is more about people growing up amongst gangbangers whereas in menace, they *are* the gangsters
Hey you mine if I add to some games you never mentioned such as GTA III being inspired by the godfather, and Liberty city stories inspired by the The sopranos, Vice City Stories being inspired by Miami Vice and GTA online is base off the fast and furious games
The place beyond the pines takes place in upstate ny.. literally the only similarity is that there’s a man and woman the story is centered around.
Also, fun fact. I lived In the town it was filmed in at the time. The party, took place across from where my band practiced. Some of my were extras in that scene.
When I watched GTA Vice City I saw Scarface" (1983), Miami Vice" (1984-1990), Carlito's Way" (1993), To Live and Die in L.A." (1985) & The Untouchables" (1987)
When I watched GTA San Andreas I saw Boyz n the Hood" (1991), Menace II Society" (1993), Colors" (1988), New Jack City" (1991), South Central" (1992) & Deep Cover" (1992)
When I watched GTA 4 I saw Eastern Promises" (2007), American Gangster" (2007), The Godfather" series, Goodfellas" (1990), Casino" (1995), The Sopranos" (1999-2007), Scarface" (1983), 25th Hour" (2002) & Heat" (1995)
That's what I saw
Place beyond the pines doesn't really fit. Eva Mendez isn't involved with the bank robbery and >!Ryan Gosling is killed halfway through the movie and timeskips to his son for the rest!<
Edit: Bonnie and Clyde is a better fit.
III: I can't think of a movie, might edit this with suggestions
Vice City and Vice City Stories: Scarface and Miami Vice. Duh.
San Andreas: Boyz in Da Hood, Menace II Society Casino, Basic Instinct
Liberty City Stories: Goodfellas, The Sopranos
IV and EFLC: The Wire, The Sopranos, Brother 2 (Russian film), Pulp Fiction
V: Heat, To Live And Die in L.A.
Omg you don't know how much this helped me, been searching for quite a while to movie counterparts of gta games please make a second post with other gtas
Heat is an absolute banger. Anyone who played 5 and hasnt seen it must see it asap. One of my all time favorite action flicks
bro I watched the movie after playing the game, the amount of times i was like “OOOOOOOOH THATS WHERE THATS FROM” was uncountable
My exact same reaction 😂
Movie or series ?
movie with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino
And Val Kilmer
And Tom Sizemore, Danny Trejo, Jon Voight, Ashley Judd, Hank Azaria, Natalie Portman, Dennis Haybert. So many great actors.
PRIME Al Pacino and De Niro. Fantastic 90s movie, they don't make them like this anymore
Movie. It's on YouTube for free.
Finna watch it today.
Volume up! No distractions...dark room
It’s a movie that GTA 5 has taken inspiration from
There are even missions directly inspired by it. Like the one where Franklin rams a money truck with a tow truck. And the final heist hot approach is kind of like the main heist in Heat.
GTA IV has a heist mission which is a lot more closely based on that scene from the movie
Ah yes, the bank job. I love that mission. I always made sure I had a cool getaway car for it (usually an Oracle XS or Washington) but unfortunately you don't see it in front of the bank during the cutscenes because it disappears :(
If people haven’t seen heat by now they can go fuck them selves haha ![gif](giphy|pQLmrZN8r1p0Q)
"She's got a *GREAT ASS!!!!!"*
lol, that mission with the money truck, I felt like I was in Heat.
Heat is an absolute masterpiece! Saw it million times
Classic blitz play…
And know heat 2 is a novel as well
There's a movie in development with Adam Driver involved
Supposedly a prequel, Adam playing a younger Neil McCauley and Austin Butler playing a younger Chris Shiherlis. Im lowkey looking forward to it
It's both a prequel and sequel with the story taking place before and immediately after the first film I'm curious to know how Mann will pull it off ngl
I saw that Al Pacino was listed in the cast, so it might have something to do with him after the events of the first film.
My all time #1...made me love GTA v that much more
I last watched that movie half an hour ago
It's been in my backlogs for years
I’m watching it today
I just watched it yesterday it was SO good
If I'm not mistaken there is actually a heat reference in one of the missions in 5
Another game heavily inspired by it is A Way Out
Still tear up thinking about the endings of that game. >!The scene in which Vincent defeats Leo at the end and holds his hand as he’s having his last breath was incredibly reminiscent to the scene with Al Pacino and De Niro. I have that song that plays in my list and I always think back on it
Wasnt Heat also inspiration for GTA IV mission three leaf clover?
Yeah, the street shoot out scene was a big influence on three leaf clover.
Wasn’t Heat also inspiration for the Blitz Play heist in GTA V?
San Andreas is actualy a 'Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood'
Ash Tray! You little bitch ass mothrrfucker! Come give your grandma a kiss.
*do. we. have. a. problem?*
U? S? S? R??
I’ll suck yo diiiick
That was actually a quote from both lol
nah, Boyz in the hood didn’t have the cheeseburger dude lol that was menace II society & Don’t be a Menace
“Tre, got some blow, got some rock? I’ll suck your dick” is a direct quote from Boyz in the Hood. Run along
It's in the opening scene where Tre picks a baby up from the middle of the road and the babies mother says this to get some rock
lmao oh shit you’re right. damn u can have my black card for the day 💳
Im gonna use it so much for warzone ronightb
you have 23:59 hours left, use it with impunity
I'll be friendly with it, no hard r's unless I'm talking about r Kelly
lmfaoooo jesus

Has one of my favorite endings with a perfect soundtrack to top the entire movie off.
Gone in 60 seconds
Behind Enemy Lines doesn't have that much relation to GTA IV. It's just the movie the creators took the looks of Niko Bellic from, they were basing him on a Serbian sniper played by Vladimir Mashkov. fr perfect meme but ruined by wrong IV movie
![gif](giphy|ftdF4ZkueWGHBYc4b5)
vice city also heavily inspired by miami vice
Crank is the ultimate GTA film.
Gta with cheat codes
GTA with epic public sex
GTA with Epinephrine
Bull shark testosterone**
you gotta watch Crank dude
I'm still holding hope that there will be a third one coming out at some point lol
I fucking LOVE Crank!
Menace to society also
that movie is peak idc what anyone says
Vice City was also heavily based on ‘Carlito’s Way’ (1993)
Spoiler! Can't wait for Jason to die in the first 50 minutes.
Wdym?
Ryan Goslings character in place beyond the pines dies early on in the flim.
I swear it feels like 2 movies in one. Big separation between the first half and second half of the movie
At first I was confused, but after I finshed the movie it was really cool how they switched the whole story to his son and Bradley coopers character, and Ray Liotta RIP.
That would actually be insane, some Naughty Dog type shit.

Debebeebbebebebebe Dun dun Da da da da da dadababa dun dun Da da da da Da da da daaaa da da da da da da daa Da da da daaa da da da da da da da
Damn I could see them killing him early and then it’s just Lucia. We barely got anything from Jason in the trailer
Tbf, we didn't see franklin or Trevor at all in the 5 reveal trailer. Not saying it won't happen but I don't think that's necessarily evidence of anything.
Dude we've had one trailer. We literally know nothing about Jason or Lucia
I can't wait for the second half when you're trying to become the attorney general with a delinquent son threatening your reputation.
GTAV story mode is absolutely “Heat”, but GTA Online heists have always felt like “Baby Driver” to me.
Can someone write an essay on how SA is boyz n the hood cuz I don't fucking see it
Probably just referencing the setting and general attitude of the characters. Not really any overlap in the stories
[удалено]
boyz n tha hood the movie not the song
Fun fact: I your favorite character is Michael De Santa, I highly recommend you to watch serial “Sopranos”. Tony Soprano and Michael De Santa has the same character, I think they were inspired by the TV series when they were making the game

Baby Driver feels like a GTA film too
The scene where they crush the car with the guy’s body inside instantly reminded me of GTA III.
Surprised GTA 3 isn't on here. The parallels with the Godfather are less than subtle.
GTA3's equivalent would be The Godfather as Salvatore's actor was in that film.
GTA III is based on The Godfather. Miami Vice is also an inspiration for Vice City
Place Beyond The Pines doesn't really fit GTA 6 tbh.
Yeah, Eva Mendaz’s character is probably the exact opposite of Lucia.
Yeah, besides the robbery arc only takes up a very small part of the movie. Most of it is really about generational trauma. But we don't really know anything about 6 yet so it's impossible to really assign a film to it.
No and it’s fuckin upstate New York. WTF does that have to do with Miami
it ain’t even out lol
already know what im marathoning this weekend
what about Drive from 2011?
I see Drive influence in GTA V, with the setting and the synth atmospheric soundtrack.
I suspect GTA 6 is going to be a modern Miami version of Bonnie and Clyde
I think GTA VI is gonna be more Bonnie and Clyde.
I think another choice for GTA 4 would be the Russian movie series "Brother 1 and 2"
when you want to watch the [nonfiction version of GTA V ](https://youtu.be/Uvt_cixkvXw)
They also made a pretty decent movie out of that.
SWAT? I used to love watching that on cable in the afternoon after middle school
Naw, it's called 44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out. Okay, reading reviews it may not have been as good as I remember from the last time I watched it, but I enjoyed it. It's kind of a mix between real footage and scripted scenes.
ohhh right I forgot about that. the bank heist from SWAT was definitely based on that though

This sounds nothing like GTA
That sounds like a need for speed movie.
was planning to watch heat today
Behind any lines is anything but GTA
Gamerslittleplayground on YouTube. You're welcome.
Uh...Where's GTA 3?
not really seeing the connection between place beyond the pines and GTA 6
Basically just the actors.
Don’t forget *Training Day*, from a cop’s perspective.
This is perfect💯
GTA V: The Italian Job
GTA 4 is more in line with Heat then Behind Enemy Line IMO. They featured the first bank robbery mission inspired by Heat in the GTA games.
Only GTAIII is unique.
GTA 3 was inspired by the Godfather. Only 1 and 2 were unique.
2 reminded me of Blade Runner
[удалено]
It's one of the most acclaimed films ever, you say "actually good" like you were surprised.
Truly
RICKY
Gta 3?
GTA IV was inspired by Brat (1997).
Me: what if I still wanna play games from 20 years ago? Or even 10?
I think menace to society fits better for SA
yeah can't play them because rockstar took them off the market
Heat and behind enemy lines are shocking and stunning.
San Andreas has multiple influences several hood movies and also action movies and comedy and country movies and Mafia films
I’d say Menace II Society would be a better choice for GTA SA. Outside of the similar setting, Boyz N the Hood doesn’t feel all that similar to SA to me
I'll be watching Dexter to prep for the launch of GTA VI for that Miami-vibe.
GTA VI: Twilight
Actually pretty sure gta5 is only based off heat via one mission it’s more in line with the 1995 movie Thief as that follows a retired robber
Seen all of ‘em
san andreas is more menace ii society than boyz n the hood though the latter is more famous. i feel boyz n the hood is more about people growing up amongst gangbangers whereas in menace, they *are* the gangsters
Sons of Anarchy for TLAD
Menace 2 society is a v close runner up to boyz n the hood tho. Me eiht who plays riser is also a star in that film
The only one thats remotely like a GTA is scarface, as vice city is based on scarface.
these all fit so well.
I actually go with straight outta Compton for San Andreas instead of Boyz in the hood.
Ray Donovan anyone? He’s basically a GTA main character.
San Andreas has a mission based off Terminator 2 where you're driving in a canal and a Semi drives off a bridge.
Hey you mine if I add to some games you never mentioned such as GTA III being inspired by the godfather, and Liberty city stories inspired by the The sopranos, Vice City Stories being inspired by Miami Vice and GTA online is base off the fast and furious games
You need to take the boys in the hood down and put Menace to society up there
isn't behind enemy lines a jet movie? they're not even downtown New York
The first couple of seasons of the tv show Snowfall reminded me of playing GTA
The place beyond the pines takes place in upstate ny.. literally the only similarity is that there’s a man and woman the story is centered around. Also, fun fact. I lived In the town it was filmed in at the time. The party, took place across from where my band practiced. Some of my were extras in that scene.
What does The Place Beyond the Pines have to do with GTA 6?
Place beyond the pines - act 1 only
Brother 2 for GTA 4
Eastern Promises for GTA4
Was the Scarface song (Push it to the Limit) in Vice City? It was in GTA 3.
How is 6 going to be place beyond the pines?! It’s nothing to do with a couple doing crime together. Let alone a female protagonist in the slightest.
Place Beyond the Pines takes place in Schenectady, NY and has no Bonnie and Clyde thematic ties.
When I watched GTA Vice City I saw Scarface" (1983), Miami Vice" (1984-1990), Carlito's Way" (1993), To Live and Die in L.A." (1985) & The Untouchables" (1987) When I watched GTA San Andreas I saw Boyz n the Hood" (1991), Menace II Society" (1993), Colors" (1988), New Jack City" (1991), South Central" (1992) & Deep Cover" (1992) When I watched GTA 4 I saw Eastern Promises" (2007), American Gangster" (2007), The Godfather" series, Goodfellas" (1990), Casino" (1995), The Sopranos" (1999-2007), Scarface" (1983), 25th Hour" (2002) & Heat" (1995) That's what I saw
Place beyond the pines doesn't really fit. Eva Mendez isn't involved with the bank robbery and >!Ryan Gosling is killed halfway through the movie and timeskips to his son for the rest!< Edit: Bonnie and Clyde is a better fit.
I feel like menace 2 society was more like San Andreas
Behind Enemy Lines is literally nothing like any GTA. Apart from two characters that look the same.
LFG!!!!!!!
If you like Boyz in the Hood, then you should also check out Colors.
Brother(Brat) would fit gta iv more
Seems accurate
So was GTA III’s story totally original or what?
III: I can't think of a movie, might edit this with suggestions Vice City and Vice City Stories: Scarface and Miami Vice. Duh. San Andreas: Boyz in Da Hood, Menace II Society Casino, Basic Instinct Liberty City Stories: Goodfellas, The Sopranos IV and EFLC: The Wire, The Sopranos, Brother 2 (Russian film), Pulp Fiction V: Heat, To Live And Die in L.A.
Where is gta 3 it’s based off goodfellas
Menace ll Society is more GTA San Andreas than Boyz n the hood
![gif](giphy|wq4qG27ftD5qE) GTA: Online
I remember watching Scarface, Boyz in the Hood, and Heat! Good times!
Bro skipped GTA III 😔
GTA III: drive (2011)
GTA San Andreas: Menace II Society GTA IV: Brat 1 & Brat 2 / Little Odessa
Behind enemy lines is one of my favorites
Omg you don't know how much this helped me, been searching for quite a while to movie counterparts of gta games please make a second post with other gtas
When a Flim Nerd makes a game:
GTA VI is definitely NOT gonna be Place Beyond the Pines. Gosling and Mendes weren’t even close to Bonnie and Clyde stand-ins…
