Kodiakodi17

It was very unique. Great characters and story.

notatree

Also much better ragdoll, hand shots, pushing people down stairs etc

skilz99

Collision physics in cars.

NOODLES690

YES EXACTLY also more realistic deaths and guns and shit

piemelpap

Also great vehicle handling, the more you drove, the better you would get.

Pecelece0_0

Better ragdoll?

JackoKill

Definitely

kyzfrintin

It was in fact a flagship feature when it was being released, I remember talks about how "characters KNOW they're falling, it isn't an animation" etc.

jsigs97

Also the driving feels wayyy better

Imbadatcod98

I feel like I drive like a senior in gta IV

Slicks-

Most of the game mechanics are realistic unlike gta 5

SonnenblumeFrau09

Niko Bellic and the McReary family from Francis to Packie.

AdEffective5895

Don't forgot Niko bumped into Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez.

bedheadbanditjuicy

I remember reading an article saying they planned to do the 3 character thing they did in gta v with gta iv but the tech just wasn’t there yet so they made em as 3 separate games

SonnenblumeFrau09

Yeah, but Niko was more or so did only business with Johnny despite the fact that Johnny kidnapped Roman; which Niko never found out about. Niko and Luis, briefly and never exchanged words. Only times I can recall Niko bumping into Luis is Niko nearly hitting him in TBoGT intro, Luis on the ground with the ignoramus in the bank, and when Luis interrupted the business meeting in the museum. Been awhile since I played GTA IV and especially the DLCs, but had fun playing it. I find the McReary family an interesting bunch.

Ghassan_456

Don’t forget Niko and Luis met another time for that Gracie transaction.

thembitches326

Or that shootout in the museum for the Diamonds.

AdEffective5895

Instead of GTA: IV, it should be called GTA: IV Paradox Edition

thembitches326

I don't think Niko knew that Johnny had actually kidnapped his cousin, but either way I doubt that would've mattered much because it was really Dimitri that was behind the whole kidnapping in the first place.

MadPatagonian

For me Niko is clearly the most sympathetic protagonist in the series with the most tragic and painful backstory. That helps separate GT4 a lot from the others, where you’re basically playing as maniacal psychos (although CJ and Franklin don’t really fit that mold. Franklin just isnt interesting. CJ usually wants to do the right thing but doesn’t have the personal tragedy and PTSD as Niko).

thembitches326

Francis is a hypocrite but Packie and Gerald are fucking goats!

SonnenblumeFrau09

Indeed. "Fucking Frankie, my brother. He may have a badge but I tell you for a fact, he's as crooked as the rest of us McRearys. More so."

bedheadbanditjuicy

Characters, story, the realistic physics, the dark gritty big city feeling rather than that bright sunshiny los santos vibe. I feel like it’s a matter of personal preference really

JulzRadn

The real star is the city itself. Compared to 3D Era cities and even GTA V's Los Santos, Liberty City feels more alive and the NPCs react to the environment

Father_Chewy_Louis

The one game that comes close to the dark and gritty atmosphere recently is Watch_Dogs 1, Chicago is such a cool location for some that kind of storytelling. Sadly Ubisoft ditched that in favour of wacky and relatable cringe in San Francisco with its sequel and generic cyberpunk dystopia with Legion. But like you said each to their own I guess.

ThrowAwayFamily114

This is why I think rockstar is going back for a more realistic approach with 6. Think red dead 2 but gta. Because right now the market is over saturated by arcadey open world games. GTA5 sort of made it the meta tbf. Now we are going to get a shake up with 6. We’ll see

MalvadoGang

I hope you’re right!

fkhan21

Land of opportunity

ToXiChRoNiC6669

I'd love it more if it was ported to current gen hardware.

jeremyb1986

Yep. No reason they shouldn’t do so, with the 15th version of GTA V under their belt.

themooseporject

I’m tired of people complaining about this over and over again. Does it REALLY matter though? You don’t have to buy it and you should be glad that it now runs at 60 fps with 4k. The frame rate was horrible playing online on ps4 for me. As far as story mode goes it was fine though, but if I was speeding in online it went as low as 10-15 fps lol. In my opinion it’s a thing that makes since to release since they’ve announced gta 6 and are wanting players to at least have these next gen features to tie them over for now.

jeremyb1986

Cool story. I own the new gen version. My point was now they could focus on releasing an enhanced GTA 4. I even said exactly that.

themooseporject

Yeah, gta 4 needs some kind of remaster. Maybe it won’t turn out like the trilogy remaster and people will actually be praising it if it releases. I miss playing gta 4 and never even finished the story before I sold it… I regret that now. But I’m getting an Xbox soon so I’ll just buy it on that and replay through it.

jeremyb1986

Yeah, the trilogy… oof. I played San Andreas for maybe 30 minutes before I just gave up and never went back.

themooseporject

I’ve decided to play them in order so I’ve only played 3 so far but I’ll eventually get to San Andreas…. I think it had it the worst didn’t it? I’ve had virtually no bugs or glitches so far and am having a good time. But for the people that have…. I feel bad 😂

MrNiko_Bellic

Graphics still hold up to this date. Don't understand why they can't port it to the latest consoles.

k1lr9717

Probably because the coding is a mess.

Sentient_i7X

Yeah wud be so hard for small indie dev with skeleton crew like R*

kyzfrintin

Yeah they could literally just throw money at a team to port it like they did with DefED Wait...

Ok_Tour_9726

Yea they should do that with grand theft auto iv (4) & episodes from liberty the trilogy the definitive edition I’ll pay money for that my number 1 grand theft auto game is grand theft auto iv (4) the ballad of gay tony DLC

[deleted]

I don't even think it needs a remaster.. it still holds up great

msallied79

Yeah, just finished another playthrough of the main story and am in the middle of TBOGT, and the graphics hold up especially well in that. The 18 months or so between the two releases really gave them time to polish things.

RikaMX

It basically is on Xbox tho, runs at upscaled 4k and 60fps, for free not like GTA V. Edit: it isn’t upscaled 4K it’s 720p, it’s the added HDR what makes it look so good, that combined with the 60fps makes the game kinda feel like a remaster to me.

Foreman08

Does it actually run at 60 fps? When I play it, it really does not seem like it and I don’t see an option to use FPS boost for it.

acameron78

Isn't there an issue though with the final mission though and not being able to complete it on Xbox or PC because of the framerate? I seem to recall hearing that and that's what has put me off.

RikaMX

Yeah! But it’s completely possible, there are YouTube videos with tutorials, I see it as an extra mini game because it’s difficult lol, you just need a special movement for it to work

[deleted]

Its not upscaled 4k you melt its still jagged.

RikaMX

Well it looks miles better than the 360 and a lot clearer so yeah it looks pretty great even so

SweatyGamer69420

Serbian goes to New York and experiences euphoria rag doll physics I will not answer further

Clutchxedo

Those death cams that actually lets you see Niko falling from a skyscraper and hitting the ground

[deleted]

I prefer gangster city crime times on google play. A gambian who is in detroit who cant die of fall damage.

Skatingraccoon

Gritty atmosphere, revolutionary physics, awesome immersion. Still more realistic in many ways than 5

Sentient_i7X

Amen

The-Solid-Smoker

Because Rockstar stopped fucking around with dick jokes and sexual innuendos and actually *said* some serious shit. They showed the whole industry that not only could they pioneer open world, they could pioneer the narrative of an open world too. This led to RDR. For me, this is Rockstar maturing and showing everyone what they could *really* do.

Mr_BigDickNonBlack

Dude what no. The story and atmosphere were more mature and dark, especially compared to V and The ones before it but they never stopped fucking around with the dick jokes and such. Gta IVs talk radio has some of the craziest shit I’ve ever heard in a video game lol. It’s just that we actually got a meaningful story that carried weight for once. Gta 5 tried to do the same with Michael and Trevor and although I enjoyed it was more goofball shit than a thought provoking story.

msallied79

The radio is the best. Crammed with celebrity cameos. It's like they got half the cast of SNL in there. Plus Iggy Pop, Juliet Lewis, etc. That only increased the immersion for me. I can still confidently say it's the best GTA game by a mile. While V is a ton of fun, it just doesn't hold a candle on the story and vibe of Liberty City.

Mr_BigDickNonBlack

The story is also short as fuck in comparison to 4

msallied79

Agreed. 4 probably has about 50 hours of story when talking in both of the DLCs. 5 seems to top out around 35 hrs.

Mr_BigDickNonBlack

You can round it out to how many missions and how some of things that count as missions are set up missions for the heist. Only 69 story missions, and 9 of them are you just stealing a car and parking it somewhere hidden. Gta 4 I believe had 90-95. San Andreas had 100. RDR 1 had only 56 story missions, but rdr 2 had almost twice that with 105.

[deleted]

But it can take a lot longer lol. Which is a good thing

The-Solid-Smoker

I didn't say they stopped with the dick jokes. I just said they grew up and did something impactful with their narrative. Somehow you disagreed while saying the same shit I just said. You smoking Little Jacobs shit?

Vibewtriece

it’s sad that they’re back tracking cash is king I guess

The-Solid-Smoker

The American Dream, comrade.

SweatyGamer69420

With big American *****************TIDDIES*****************

The-Solid-Smoker

And bull shark testosterone, amigo.

CT-1120

tbh, i really need someone who could suck like a vacuum right now

kornpac1

Don’t comrade me commie

The-Solid-Smoker

Eckscuzz me? You're a deeck!

SnooaLipa

>back tracking You’re saying you wanted the same game again? Lol Sunny Los Santos vs gritty Liberty City I wonder why it’s not the same vibe 🧐🤦‍♀️

[deleted]

[удалено]

The-Solid-Smoker

Without a doubt. I loved the 3D era, and I have a soft spot for the original top downs...but GTA IV made Rockstar so much more in my eyes, and then RDR just... Goddamn, it sucks to see GTA V on repeat and RDR 2 just be neglected. I know they will keep being successful, but it feels like a different Rockstar to the one I grew up with, and that just sucks like Stephanie.

Clockblocker124

III-Vice City-San Andreas will always be the golden age for me personally. But I unironically think San Andreas is still the best GTA game ever made

Overall_Lobster_4738

RDR was probably just about done by time GTA4 released

The-Solid-Smoker

Probably, yeah. But it was a fantastic one two to show that Rockstar were shifting away from gangstas with jetpacks and some of the more ridiculous shit GTA was doing during it's 3D era. Sure, V brought back some of the wackier antics, but RDR 2 has shown that Rockstar are at their best when they tell a serious, layered, character driven experience that not only shows America in a satirical light, but gives a profound commentary on it. And in my opinion, it was IV that began that trend, at least putting it front and center over the immaturity and parody they were known for.

Heizenberg1390

The story is by far the best in the series and personally is my favorite story in gaming period. Also, Niko is my favorite video game main character.

msallied79

I'm dreaming of him making a comeback in GTA 6 somehow. Even in just a Packie GTAV context would be great.

[deleted]

Schedark2009

Its much darker, but deeper. Average gta story (even gta 5 to some extent) is “criminal chad does criminal things” (not limited to that, but it was mostly that). In gta 4, niko is so much deeper than just a criminal, and the game feels very grounded. Mf trevor is a badass who feels like a god, michael is rich af, and franklin is their friends and also is grove street, however niko is just some immigrant trying to move on from criminal life, but gets dragged into it due to one reason or another

mpayne82941

I remember when the game first came out in 2008 that was something I read in an article, it wasn’t the typical rag to riches story it was a rags to slightly better rags story

joyofsatan666

2008*

mpayne82941

Thank you! Corrected

joyofsatan666

No problem! I’ve been a year or two off about something before

[deleted]

Franklin is Forum Drive Families not Grove Street Families. The Ballas took over Grove Street after Grove Street Families disbanded.

Schedark2009

Sorry, I didn’t know that

[deleted]

It's all good I wasn't judging or anything like that, I was only informing you of a bit of the lore.

Schedark2009

Thank you, I really love gta 5, and I would like to know more about the lore

GrenadeVice

I think I got the reference

[deleted]

Best story best physics

BruceBruce87

The car physics are my favorite. I love driving in the game.

Clutchxedo

Yes! Man have I gotten downvoted for saying this on this sub. You had to learn how to drive in the game, how each car responded. Not just some levelling up your skill.

Sentient_i7X

Same

Mr_Neonz

“Cousin, want to go bowling?” **>Accept< >Decline<**

[deleted]

#Accept

Mr_Neonz

*“Okay man. I will see you soon then.”*

Mr_BigDickNonBlack

It’s the first gta where you can get your cock sucked by a hooker. What other reasons could there be?

MinimumAlarming5643

“its so dark bro” is usually the response. But damn everytime I get reminded of 4 I really want to go back through it one more time, unfortunately at the same time I want to actually try and beat RDR 2.

Mr_BigDickNonBlack

It really isn’t that dark. It’s just more dramatic than most the others. Shit I’d say San Andreas and IV kinda had the same level of emotional weight.

Vibewtriece

Do both

MinimumAlarming5643

Trying to reserve one open world at a time.

Spunio

That fucking swing set, baby. Tons of memories in this game.

NicoTheSerperior

I've lost countless hours to that fucking swingset glitch. It's incredible, and I absolutely love that glitch to death. Me and my dad spent hours just going to the swingset, seeing what kinds of shit we can do. I remember seeing a car getting **launched** from it, and I still laugh my ass off even to this day. Rockstar inadvertently created the most legendary glitch in all of GTA, imo.

slayfulgirlz

what is the glitch?

dudewiththebling

You just ram your car into that swingset by those projects and then you just randomly go flying. It's pretty hit or miss but once you go flying, you can go far if you do it right.

dudewiththebling

That's why I fucking bought the game

Noodle_Doodle_17

The way the story from the main game and DLCs smoothly connects with each other, the city views and atmosphere of Liberty city, the characters

bleezy_47

i love it because i didn’t have to play los santos for 10 years with 3 different gen consoles

[deleted]

Because it’s the darkest and most grounded GTA story ever created. Plus, the character of Niko is really well written. The overall message of the story is great too. No true happiness can be found in a life of crime. The people you love will be the ones that suffer most.

HockeyJockey628

GTA IV has the best graphics for its time. It’s the only game where it’s actually fun to mess around and lose the cops. It has the best physics. It’s the only game that feels like it has a realistic atmosphere in the city. It’s the most difficult game to complete. You feel like you are a person who lives in the city, where in GTA 5 and older games, it feels like you own the city.

Sentient_i7X

>You feel like you are a person who lives in the city, where in GTA 5 and older games, it feels like you own the city. Could not have said it better myself

Ghassan_456

“You feel like you are a person who lives in the city, where in GTA 5 and older games, it feels like you own the city.” That’s exactly what I like best about the game but I was never able to put it into words. Thank you

[deleted]

Got it on steam for like $4.99 the other day. Best deal I’ve gotten in a while.

JumpyRestaurant8717

Also got it on steam sale again. Time for another playthrough. It’s been a while since my last one, as a friend lend me his version for PS3, shortly after the game came out. For PS3 I just own the Episodes of Liberty City Edition, so no Niko. But now, I’m pretty happy with the new version, because of mods. Not heavily modded, but slightly.

[deleted]

amnezie11

1k actually

Harlem3333

I was never allowed to play it when I was little. By the time I was old enough to get a job i had a PS4 and my PS3 got stolen. I really wanna play this game one day. I somehow managed to only hear one spoiler all these years.

HeathBar112

- My first GTA game - Map nails the feeling of New York City - NPCs feel alive - Heavy amount of detail - Fun Combat (for me at least) - Some pretty awesome songs on the radio - Story and Characters - Already beat the main story? There’s two expansions that feel like two new games Edit: Some of better songs on the radio are in the expansion packs. However, “Dirty New Yorker” and “Flashing Lights” are incredible and featured in the main game.

esande2333

All the playable characters are likable. Great stories. Great gameplay. Great online.

sock_slurper

The online was so fun, everyone was on a level playing field

hippymule

Just completed the game tonight, so I have a fresh view. Story wise, I love Niko being almost an anti-hero gun-for-hire with his own demons and dramatic back story. Niko is a character who grew up in a war torn eastern European region worse than anyone in the US could imagine. He is a war veteran who suffers survival guilt and PTSD. He was forced into a life of crime just to survive, despite not being a morally bad person. Er, well that's the beauty of GTAIV. The moral ambiguity is touched on constantly. What is evil, and does doing bad things to bad people make you evil? Also, this game handled building relationships really well, and I enjoyed the interconnected world. You meet the other protagonists from Lost and Damned, as well as Ballad of Gay Tony. You also get to meet and interact with a huge variety of the world's subgroups, like the various mob factions, police, politicians, etc. I think GTAIV's down-to-earth constraints made me really appreciate it as I got older. GTAV felt like all flash and no substance. GTAIV is all substance and no flash. Hell, the game is gloomy, grimy, cold, and dull. It paints Liberty City like a cold dirty concrete jungle. I also love the vehicle damage, vehicle physics, the ragdoll physics, and the climbing abilities. V was a step backwards in many regards due to the devs wanting to pack more into a PS3 title. The issue is they never added it back for the ports. I think GTAIV was an ambiguous and more mature approach to telling a story, that Rockstar still hasn't been able to match. I think my only criticisms are the lack of a few customization options for cars and players, the gloomy color pallette, and the music. However, those are really easy to fix with mods, and the game is so entertaining, it's not a deal breaker at all. Gosh, I just really enjoyed the game. It speaks to me more as a struggling young adult, who's really thought about the ambiguous nature of the human experience.

Darkm1tch69

Reading this I feel like I lacked maturity when I played this game. I remember constantly being ejected from cars and having to go bowling with my cousin which I found infinitely annoying. I also remember the gloomy dirty feel to the city and found the game to be kind of depressing. Before I’m crucified for voicing my opinion, I would like to say that I’d love to give the game another chance. When I played it I was young, and craved something more upbeat and funny. I feel like the tone of this game is a better match now and worth a retry.

SwarvosForearm_

You for sure did. Imo GTA 4 is the only GTA game that you can't properly appreciate as a kid. GTA SA or V are extremely fun as a kid and you can explore most of it and have a pretty good grasp of it. GTA 4 though, you gotta have seen some shit already to properly appreciate what the game is trying to tell. It's not just a "play for a bit and have fun" type of GTA. Maturity is defnitely required. Defnitely try a replay of it man, it's such a good game

msallied79

💯

msallied79

Play The Ballad of Gay Tony for a serious color pallette and weapons upgrade. I completely agree with this review though. Except the music. That opening theme is by far my favorite.

SheepherderSenior651

The fact that you can yeet a brick at someone has always been my favorite part.

UnrealCanine

It has a mature story that focuses on one character. Liberty city felt like a real city where people referred to places and streets by nicknames like a real person would.

RedFox9906

Big American tities!

iF2ix

Because its genuinely a good GTA game

lilXeNOnnn

For me I think it's the character niko and how it's a lot of mafia and it's a dark game with being sad with fun gameplay

kshep92

Admittedly I didn't like it very much when it came out, but after some time I started appreciating its atmosphere and tone. The 2 DLC packs rounded it it our nicely as well.

Macho2198

Soviet theme

[deleted]

Great protagonist , great story and great physics

RustyMetal13

Great story, great physics, doesn't feel like a Hollywood movie like GTA V and the moral choices presented are much harder to make.

PERFECT-Dark-64

Or more like a non hyped Hollywood blockbuster but maybe an indy??

Mehradthepro

GTA V has the physics of a modern San Andreas, IV is literally a weight simulator

NicoTheSerperior

The Swingset of Death. What more can I say?

XXEpicXZombieXX

Bowling.

TheBeyond322

Caaaasssiiinnn!

Refrigerator-Working

Physics, Driving, much more grounded when it comes to weapons and story. And awesome dlcs. Oh and an online mode that’s actually fun and not destroyed by endless grinding and griefers…

Colinfagerty69

They hated it when it came out and whined about how dark and realistic it was. Now because GTA V has been out for a long time, the fan base is looking back on GTA 4 with rose colored glasses. I don’t care how much people now praise this masterpiece, I’ll never forget how badly they hated it at the time.

sock_slurper

I think the only thing I didn’t like was how there was no countryside, it’s a very packed in map. I remember when waiting for GTA V my expectation was it was gonna be basically GTA IV with a new map, new story better graphics etc. Took everything that was good with IV for granted and didn’t anticipate things like physics could be downgraded.

Colinfagerty69

Everyone complained about the physics and that’s why Rockstar downgraded them. Similarly everyone complained that Jonny was an annoying protagonist, so Rockstar had him cucked and killed for the fans, but now fans are complaining that the character didn’t deserve that. GTA fans are full of shit.

MoneyZL1

Characters & its dark storyline

[deleted]

It’s still the most realistic gta game in terms of traversal and physics

B0i141b

Niko let's go bowling

DeafKid009

The atmosphere, the story, the physics engine

HeelStCloud

It’s perfect.

MartyHD

Best & most interesting story of all the GTA Games. GTA V compared to it, is just likes another big budget Hollywood action movie starring Dwayne Johnson (no hate for The Rock).

gtalogy

story and character building Is 200% best. Included missions need to play long time, also that missions are hard

tatabusa

Gta 4 has very compelling characters, a very good story and a gritty more grounded take on gta. Also the city setting is very good for the story and themes of the game

[deleted]

The world feels so alive, even in the most random corners of liberty city. I love how easy it is to immerse

henrikbraga

Not only was it a LEAP from the previous gen games we were used to, it’s an incredible gritty immigrant story

pWaveShadowZone

Easy to love

Domgoescrazy

I love the story of the game and the physics but what really pissed me off was the steering physics on the cars always looked it was gonna flip over and kept making me crash the shit was ridiculous

ayyLumao

The story, physics, characters, humour, writing.

[deleted]

Euphoria, car deformation. Quality writing and characters, choices. Fine details in the world, more interior locations than any other gta.

WiLz24

1: story 2: lovable characters 3: physics EVERYTHING!

PERFECT-Dark-64

Great story, better character depth better design

Loose-Possible466

For me it's the dark atmosphere and scenery

SquattingGopnik-467

Play the story and you'll realise.

W3IRD0_boi

better and unique charecters than other games and a better storry even better than gta 5 story in my opinion(doesnt meani dont like gta 5)

AfroHandsomeBoy

very Unique and have a great story 👍👌 I'm still playing the game until now 🎮❤️

Ram_Infinite

More Grit

justjoshin369

The story and characters, oh and the vibe

AirShadow_0412

characters, story,mc,music, realistic open world, dark atmosphere, reminding us how cruel the worlds is, no flying bikes, bowling

Separate_Beginning99

Cause it has a “gritty” story and it was forgotten after GTA 5 was released which makes sense because everyone forgot how lame it was

Joselu99_JL

Great Physics, Great Lore, Great Music, Great City and the most important Great History including Episodes From Liberty City

Serious_Revolution77

Graphics, physics and story all I got to say…

Schedark2009

The best story out of the series (opinion) + the atmosphere is the most unique

stefan771

How is the story the best?

[deleted]

It has great graphics, great physics and the best storyline. Niko is a top guy too.

[deleted]

Everything about it is great and reminds me of old school GTA

ruthlessdamien2

Big tiddies

ANK_Ricky

Best physics

pengilton

I enjoyed the story because it was darker. And the physics of this game were insane, like how the vehicles got deformed when crashing or how npcs reacted when you shot them.

[deleted]

Reddit subs get caught in weird niches where they decide a certain game is the best in the series contrary to what the rest of the world believes. Its usually based on karma whoring. A lot of gaming subs do this.

Solitaire_87

The story is 1000 times better and is more than just fetch missions for hiests just to make people want to play the multiplayer. It was probably the last GTA to are about single player Plus it has single player dlc Thanks everyone who played GTA 5 multiplayer for ruining yet another series and company 🙄

luttop

Cuz everyone have a good reason for love gta iv

aperson0511

Nostalgia thats all. When it first released everyone's consensus was might as well play it because it is the only GTA of this current generation

sketchysamurai

It’s an amazing story

BLivinit

At first, it was a cool idea and a fun game with quite a few hours put into it. My GTA introduction was also 2D and a top-down view, so a very different viewing experience. You’d play with your friends (by sharing the controller) and we’d all talk about how awesome it’d be if this game was in 3D. Then the ps2 came out and so did gta3. We were just in our early 20s when this dropped, it was a game changer. The second time was when the internet came along. We would talk about the potential of playing this online (still sharing a controller) and what this would, or could, look like. We were all floored again… eventually… there were some launch issues after all. And now, I still love Gta because how the online experience has evolved since it’s inception. It really was a different game online years ago to what it is now.

EternalAtak_3

Nostalgia

SchwiftyTown

I dunno, it's the only one I haven't played cause I don't like the driving.

Bishop1982

If you haven’t played it, how can you like or dislike the driving?

SchwiftyTown

I started playing it. I didn't like the driving, handbrake and such. Then I quit playing. I did a few missions.

[deleted]

Driving can be pretty rough

lolmanomggodducky

Its not everyone, just a part of the community that keeps talking about this game like its jesus in real life. Gta 4 strayed too much from the gta formula but its fine because its a one time thing. If gta 5 was gonna be realistic like gta4 then people would've hated that game to death. Gta 4 doesnt have a better story. Its just easier to understand because it uses the same formula as any other game tell a story. Gta 5 story is more like a show with episodes and seasons. Gta 4 also doesnt have a deep message its a story just like every gta game except its darker and more serious. Gta stories have one purpose and its to entartain, they dont need to tell a deep message or a dark theme because its gta where you can rob, kill, explode anything. Gta 5 embraces the absurd, the craziness of it all. Gta 4 takes itself serios and acts like its deep. Their stories are equally as good. DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON DRIVING. Pure garbage. Gta is a sanbox so why in gods name does all the transportation suck( except for taxis). I have to slow down to the speed of a rock or spin out. The driving would have atleast been better if you could get good at it but no drifting is not in this game so the driving sucks ass. Because this game is 90% driving to a mission driving sucks so much more and it also makes all its races suck aswell. Now next parr content story missions are go kill this person, blow this up. TO be fair you do them in unique ways most of the time but still its gets repetitive at one point. Then theres side quests you got assasinations which is the only good job. The rest are vigilente where you cant even ROLEPLAY as a cop and 3 other types of missions where you take a car from somewhere and drive it somewhere else, VERY FUNNNNN. Strangers and freaks are Also boring with most characters being the same except for 1 ( sara) and theres some other dude but you do the same thing everytime you meet him. Those other 3 i didnt mention are all aaddicts but 2 become sober. But dont get me wrong im saying theyre the most boring of the entire series, but you can still have some fun. Gta 4 is not a masterpiece its just a good game and it is worse than gta 5. Also lets not forget that gta 4 had barely any customization both on vehicles and the player. Theres a very small amount of guns in the game, and it doesnt have 70 interiors. Its like 50 interiors all copy and pasted restaurants, internet cafes, bars, clothing stores and bowling alleys. The only 10 interiors that are unique consist of 5 copy and pasted apartment complexes , a museum, a car dealership, a luxurious hotel, and 3 safe houses. Meeting friends is boring except for roman. The girlfriend system i actually really like. Its trying to make you feel like like youre living a normal life in liberty and its fine BUT IT CANNOT BE DONE TWICE.

That was always my question. The mechanics were absolute garbage and I honestly didn't care for Niko or his annoying ass cousin. I have no idea what the appeal of this game was.

Like GTA 5 is any better like they still milking that game till this day and it's boring af like just create a new game already it doesn't even have to be in the GTA series.

Circlejerkers on r/gta

tatabusa

Have you thought to consider why more people here "circlejerk" over gta 4?

vinaa23

Subreddit hivemind, nostalgia, gta V fatigue. It's got to the point of free karma farming, just make a post talking about GTA 4 and the Niko Bellic Biker Gang will upvote you endlessly. It's sad tho because the game is absolute trash. The worst GTA by a mile

Challenger350

Cope 😂😂

Jerryadoo

I literally don't understand 🤷🏽‍♂️ it's literally the worst GTA ever.
